On behalf of the Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia Railway (SAR) tendered three projects for installation of approx. 1.800 km of Heavy Haul (32.5 T Axle Load) Railway line in the North East part of the Kingdom Against stiff competition from renowned global manufacturers of PSC Sleepers, PCM Strescon was awarded contract to manufacture and supply 13,00,000 nos of Concrete Sleepers for the Project segment CTW 100 and 15,00,000 nos of Concrete Sleepers for the Project segment CTW 300
The Contracts stipulated:
• Use of Pandrol fastening system FC 1600• Ultimate concrete strength 75 Mpa (40 Mpa release strength)• 32,5 tons axle load (heavy haul)• 160 km/h operation speed

Summary
PCM Strescon Overseas Saudi Arabia
PCM Strescon Overseas established the world’s largest concrete sleeper production units in Saudi Arabia to deliver more 2,8 Million sleepers for the North/South Railway Line under following conditions:
1.Plants set up in remote desert under harsh desert conditions with temperatures exceeding 55o C in the summer and (-) 7o C in the winter
2. 30 – 35 days of sandstorms per year3.No public water and electricity supply or other infrastructure available near the plants
