Creating value together
As an owner-managed group of companies, PCC is committed to pursuing investments with vision.
Together with our partners, we have been able to implement an extensive investment program in recent years:
▪ Production plant for silicon metal in Iceland: jointly realized with KfW IPEX-Bank and Icelandic pension funds
▪ Production plant for dimethyl ether (DME) in Russia
▪ PCC is planning a future investment project, a production of specialty chemicals in Malaysia, together with PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad, the leading integrated chemical producer in Malaysia and one of the largest in Southeast Asia.
▪ PCC as a bond issuer: Since an initial issuance in 1998, more than 16,000 private investors have subscribed to PCC bonds, thus providing additional support for our investment projects.
Over the many intervening years, a relationship of trust has grown between our investors and ourselves that in this day and age could be rightly regarded as a rare phenomenon.

Comparison with numerous contender sites in NW Europe shows Lülsdorf to offer a number ofconvincing advantages:
▪ Central position in the chemicals cluster Rhein-Ruhr/NL/B
▪ Good raw material supply links: Pipelines, Rhine, rail, road
▪ Utilization of vacant brownfield areas is more sustainable than investing in a greenfield facility
▪ Excellent collaboration with site operator Evonik
▪ Qualified labor in the local area
▪ Site infrastructure services already available (fire service, plant security, etc.)
▪ Enhancement of chemicals production in NRW through investment in advanced technologies

Why do we need ethylene oxide (EO)?
Typical applications that use EO as an intermediate product:
Ethylene oxide (EO) is the starting material for a number of chemicals, some of which we intend to produce in a total of five additional plants directly at the Lülsdorf site. The primary applications are as follows:
Laundry and cleaning products Flexible and rigid foams Personal care products
Electrolytes for batteries Plastics Adhesives, sealants, paints, coatings, inks, etc.

1. Safety
▪ Maintenance of the highest safety standards in EO production, further processing and infrastructure
▪ EO production: Technology provider Scientific Design: over 70 years of experience, 17 plants in operation worldwide, selected on thebasis of a comparative study with safety concept as a leading comparison criterion
▪ Ethoxylation: Technology provider DBI Ballestra: 70% market share in surfactant production; reactor designed with intrinsic protectionto prevent its destruction and the escape of emissions in the event of a potential accident
▪ PCC has accumulated decades of experience in the safe production and handling of EO
2. Environmental and climatic protection
▪ Utilization of brownfield areas and infrastructure already available on site
▪ On-site electricity and process steam generation based on state-of-the-art technology (gas and steam turbine power plant with heat extraction)
▪ Recovery of the CO2 generated during production as a raw material for manufacturing ethylene carbonate, a feedstock used to make the electrolytes needed for lithium battery production
▪ The high environmental and social standards attributable to PCC meet the requirements specified by the financing banks
3. Long-term economic efficiency
▪ Investments from the various partners at the site are based on a reliable collaboration concept
▪ Thorough analysis of the long-term economic viability by PCC, co-investors and financing banks

PCC – engaging in dialog
As a responsible investor from within the region, PCC is keen to develop a long-term relationship with you, the residents surrounding the Lülsdorf site. We take your questions and suggestions, and especially your concerns, very seriously and would like to talk to you about them. We are therefore thriving for an open and objective dialogue with our neighborhood in Lülsdorf, as at all our locations. This also means that we establish contacts between concerned citizens and the authorities to make the approval process transparent and to explain the applicable standards and safety requirements to the interested community.
So we have created a number of channels to enable you to engage in a dialog with us:
• By telephone via our project hotline: +49 (0) 2066 20 19-36(currently: Monday to Friday 10.00 - 12.00 hours)
• By email: [email protected]
• Via our website: www.pcc-luelsdorf.de
• By post to PCC Integrated Chemistries GmbH, Moerser Str. 149, 47198 Duisburg
• ... or personally at one of our next information events at the Evonik Casino restaurant, which we will announce on our website and on the notice board in front of the Casino.
We look forward to talking to you!
