Principals Report
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members
LNPSSA Sports update
Congratulations to the students who took part in the LNPSSA
AFL trials last week. The students were involved in a
development session then played several games.
Congratulations to Jonah Allen, Luca Deaton, Cody McCallum
and Jack Evans who have been selected in the LNPSSA AFL
Team. These students will join others from the
Leeton/Narrandera area on the 22nd
March to contest the
Riverina Championships!
Good luck to our students participating in the LNPSSA Rugby
League trials tomorrow at Parkview School. Also, best of luck
to all our Stage 3 students who will be participating and
competing in the LNPSSA Soccer Gala Day this Friday.
Clean Up Australia Day
A big thank you to all that came along to our community Clean
up Australia event, as well as all of the teachers who helped on
the day.
Parent Information Sessions- Best Start – Tuesday 13th
March
On Tuesday 13th of March at 6.30pm (in the KF classroom) we
will be holding a parent information session for all Kindergarten
parents to explain the Best Start testing procedure and assist
Page 2
Monday, 5 March 2018 Term 1, Week 6
in understanding the reports that all students have received
after completing these tests.
Tell them from me student feedback survey (Term 1, 2018)
This term, our school, like many other public schools in the
state, will participate in a Department of Education initiative:
the Tell them from me student feedback survey. The survey
measures factors that are known to affect academic
achievement and other student outcomes. The focus of the
NSW-wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and
effective teaching practices.
More information about the survey is available at:
http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au
The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us
with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about
school life, how engaged they are with school and the different
ways that teachers interact with them. More than 6,300
schools in Australia and around the world have used Tell them
from me to survey 5.4 million students. Capturing the voices of
our students will help improve how we do things at our school.
I want to assure you that the survey is confidential. The survey
is conducted online and will typically take less than 30 minutes
to complete. It will be administered during school hours
between 12 March and 13 April. Participating in the survey is
entirely voluntary.
A consent form and FAQs for parents/carers about the survey
is being sent home with students. If you do not want your child
or children to participate, please return the form to school by
Monday 12th
March, 2018. Copies of the form and FAQs are
available from: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-
parents.
P &C Meeting – Tuesday 13th
March 7:30pm
The next P&C meeting will take place in the Primary staff room
on Tuesday 13th
March commencing at 7:30pm. Everyone is
encouraged to come along to this meeting.
Attendance
Last week our Home School Liaison Officer completed
a Roll Check. It was disappointing to see the number of
students that have already been absent a number of
days in 2018. As parents, it is your responsibility to
ensure that your child attends school on a regular
basis.
If your child is absent, it is important to ensure that you
provide the school with an explanation for this absence.
If sick and under the care of a Doctor it is good practise
to obtain a Medical Certificate to explain these
absences.
Getting to and from school safely
Please remember to cross at the school crossing
holding your child’s hand. Streets around schools are
very busy in the mornings and afternoons. Please do
not stop or park your car on or near any pedestrian
crossing and observe all safety and no stopping signs.
Children aged between four and seven must be secured in a
forward facing child restraint or booster seat. Also please do
not park your car across school carpark entry/exit areas and
this can cause problems for people needing to enter or exit
these areas in an emergency.
P&C Day
P&C Day will be held this Wednesday 7th March. Come
dressed up in your favourite outfit starting with either a “P” or
“C” and please bring a gold coin donation. I am, looking
forward to a great day of dress up fun!
Learning about Learning
How2learn?
Why dispositions for Learning
Helping students develop a repertoire of effective dispositions
and habits for learning means that students will be ready,
willing and able to face the constant challenges of learning.
We want students who are inclined to want to learn, to
question, to find out more, as well as to have the grit and
determination required to stick with their learning.
Dispositions reflect the different resources we draw upon when
learning. We are all different so it is only natural that we have
different ways of approaching learning situations. Learning
about the dispositions helps us support students to develop
overall learning fitness whereby they can call upon their social,
emotional, cognitive, strategic and ethical resources when
required.
Keep an eye out for updates about HOW2Learn and the
essential learning habits in coming newsletters!

As always, I would like to reiterate to all parents that if you
have a concern or query regarding your child's education
please make an appointment to see the relevant classroom
teacher or appropriate Executive Member to further discuss
the matter. Parents are asked to address any emails to our
school email address. These emails will then be forwarded to
the appropriate teacher. It is important that concerns be initially
addressed with classroom teachers as often issues can be
addressed quickly.

Vegetable Week
A big thank you to the many
parents/carers who got behind Vegie
Week and sent their children in with
vegie snacks. 222 students took part
in the BIG VEGIE CRUNCH last
Thursday. Carrots were the BIG favourite. Consider making
carrot sticks a regular Crunch’n Sip snack. Much cheaper than
fruit and way more durable!!
