QUESTION 1
What is System Development Life Cycle (SDLC):
• SDLC is a problem-solving process used to organize the
large number of activities to build a system that used to
be determine whether to proceed from one task to the
next task in order, in which include a project specifies,
prototypes, designs, implements, reviews, tests and
perform its other activities.

QUESTION 2
The aim of the preliminary investigation phases:
• To verify what problems occur or deficiency really exists,or to pass judgment on the new requirement.
• To identify & select a project for development fromamong all the projects under consideration that canundertake only those projects that are critical to itsmission, goals, and objectives.

• To answer the following questions:
What isthe
businessproblem?
Is it aproblem
or anopportunity?
What arethe majorcauses of
the problem?
Can the
problembe solved byimproving the
currentinformation
system?
Is a newinformation
Systemneeded?
Is this a feasibleinformation system
solution tothis problem?

What must be done during Preliminary InvestigationPhases?
• Must set the stage for gathering information about thecurrent problem and the existing information system.
• Use the information to study the feasibility of possibleinformation systems solutions.
• Consider the constraints of the problem solutions.
• Decide whether to further the decision or need to stop
the decision

QUESTION 3
Definition of feasibility:
Measurement of how suitable system development will be to
a company.
Type of Test to Evaluate Project’s Feasibility:
TechnicalFeasibility
OperationalFeasibility

QUESTION 4
Prepares a good preliminary investigation report to be presented
to the vice president and the management about my findings.
Suggesting to the management to hold a special meeting to discuss about
my findings and the meeting will act as a medium for me
to present about my preliminary report.
Try to persuade the vice president and the committee to find a ways to
reducing the costs of the project so that it can still be develop.
Ask the committee to redesign the system so that it can be cost
justified.
Try to persuade the vice president to reject the system from being
developed and I would make new analysis about planning the
new system that hopefully could be cost justified.

Purpose of the Gantt chart:
Helps to ensure that the project schedule is maintained at areasonable pace, and that the individual tasks that make up the
work breakdown schedule logically progress in a manner thatmoves the project closer to completion.
To establish a precedence network that determines the prioritylevel of each task associated with the project.
Evaluates the dependency relationships of each of the tasks.
Advantages of preparing a Gantt chart:
• It provides an easy reference for how to carry out a givenproject by breaking it down into specific phases and tasks.

QUESTION 6
Factors that lead to project failures:
Poor Testing
Lack of UserInvolvement
Long orUnrealisticTime Scales
Shortage ofTrainedIT Professionals
No ChangeControlSystem
Shortage ofTeam Members
IneffectiveCommunication

QUESTION 7
Techniques Advantages Disadvantages
Interviews •Get full range & depth ofinformation•Develops relationship & canbe flexible with client
•Time consuming•Can be costly
Review of Documents •Doesn't interrupt program or
client's routine•Information already existed
•Not flexible
•Could be biased
Observation •Can view as they areactually occurring.•Can adapt to events
•Difficult to interpret seenbehaviors•Complex to categorizeobservations

Technique Advantages Disadvantages
Questionnaires •Complete anonymously
•Easy to compare andanalyze
•May not complete the
survey•Lack of contact withrespondent
Joint Application Design •Quick & relatively easy toset up•Can provide useful
information
•Information is notrepresenting other group•Hard to analyze
Prototyping •Better able to explain theirrequirements•Show the system intendedto operate
•Potential cause of conflictbetween departments andthe end users
Case Studies •Fully depicts people’s
experience in program input, process, and results•Powerful way of portrayingprogram to outsiders.
•Time consuming
•Represents depth ofinformation rather thanwidth.

QUESTION 8
• Definition of Computer-aided software engineering
(CASE):
Methods for the development of information systems
together with automated tools that can be used in
the software development process.
• CASE technologies provide automated assistance for
software development by helping designers to focus on
the systems linear behaviour.
