Dear Parents/Carers,
END OF YEAR CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Our end of year Christmas Concert will be held on Friday 6 December from 5pm. There is a change of location to take advantage of the shade along ‘C’ Block walkway near the undercover area. The official stage will be set up against the west wall of the undercover area and the students will assemble on the blue mats in front of the stage. The P & C will be holding a Sausage Sizzle to help raise funds.
SWIMMING
Congratulations to all the students on being so well behaved at swimming lessons. We have had excellent feedback from the swimming teachers and the pool attendants.
Congratulations to all the parents on being organised and having your payments completed on time. This is the first year Mrs Thomas has not had to chase up payments from Parents. Top Job!
YR 6 GRADUATION PHOTO
Our Year 6 Graduation photo will take place on Monday 11 November at 9am. We would like all Year 6 students to wear their graduation shirt.
HEADLICE
We are working on getting a Policy and Guidelines out to everyone with regard to the management of head lice. The Public Health Department has given us information we all need to know. There are many myths surrounding how head lice is transferred and the best ways to go about removing them. HINT: You hit the jackpot when you remove all the black/ brownish eggs.
Cheers Marg
ACTIVE TRANSPORT TO SCHOOL DAY
On Friday 15 November we will participate in the Active Transport to School Day by travelling to school NOT in a car. Some different ideas of getting to school are;
Walk, ride, scoot to school
Set up a walking bus with all the kids in your street
These activities are better for our environment, reduce traffic congestion around school at drop off and pick up, a healthier lifestyle and many more benefits.
If you come to school on Friday without driving in a car you will earn extra points for your faction and help the environment.
We have registered our school with the Your Move Program and you can get more information from their website http//yourmove.org.au, and while you are there search for Swan View Primary School and see what Mr G has been up to.
Congratulations to all of the following students who received
honour certificates.

B5 Made Rangolis
On Friday, my class went outside B5 and B6 to make rangolis, which are lotus flowers for the Hindu celebration of Diwali and for Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. Diwali is 5 days long in the northern countries and 3 days in southern countries. It is traditional for Hindus to make rangolis to welcome Lakshmi. By Jacob Clarke B5 We had a blind vote in our room and voted for the rangoli that Caroline Linder did as the best one in our class.
Around the Rooms - Literacy & Numeracy
A7 - Year 5/6 Spelling Exercise Today we did a special spelling lesson where the first student said the word and the first letter of the word then had to throw the ball to the next student. Then that student would say the second letter and keep going until they have spelt the word.
Our Community Engagement Officer Bevan O’Donnell has been
visiting the students at lunch time.
MR BROWN’S CLASS - A1 showing their parents and carers the amazing games they have been making
over the last Semester. Such fantastic inventions
Thank you IGA for the donation of hats
to Mr G’s Morning Walk/Run Program.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Once again this year our school is participating in Jump Rope for Heart– a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program by the Heart Foundation.
Jump Rope for Heart is a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs.
New Summer Menu
Term 4 brings warmer weather and cooler foods and drinks. Find frozen treats and colourful fruit kebabs on the menu. Using fruits in season, you will sometimes find smoothies, sorbets and ice creams. At lunch, try tacos on Tuesdays, sushi on Wednesdays and pizza on Thursdays. Dino snacks now come with salad with a big twist of orange on the top.
Parents Ever wanted to learn how to make sushi from scratch? Lessons available Wednesdays in the canteen. Call 9294 3347 to book a time!
Swimming Lessons A big thank you to Teresa for managing to make good her promises during the swimming lessons. No matter what the circumstances, Teresa said that she would keep the children’s lunch and recess orders warm and readily available over the two weeks of swimming activity. And, Teresa did just that. Well done. We all appreciate you so much Teresa for the wonderful job you do managing the Canteen and winning the highest praise from Canteen WA for achieving a 5 Star rating.

YEAR 6 GRADUATION PHOTO
Triple P Seminar
The school photographer will be returning on Monday 11
November to take the group Graduation photo. Please
make sure your Year 6 child wears the Leavers shirt for the
photo which will be taken at approximately 9 am. If you
have a spare shirt that one of our new students could wear
for the photo, it would be greatly appreciated.
