Tractors are great help when

different materials. Although, while

travelling on a tractor it is

important to make sure that you are

able to work and travel safely.

Before you start working with your

parent/guardian you can complete a

five minute check of your tactor to

make sure that it is safe to use.

Before getting to work check the

items listed and complete the

Hand Brake

Hydraulics

Clear Cab floor

Clean all windows

Brake Pedals locked together

Once all of these extra precautions

are seen to it will be safe for you

and your parent/guardian to begin

working on the farm using your

tractor.

Another very important thing to

remember when on board a tractor

is your seatbelt. A seatbelt protects

you when you are a passenger in a

vehicle.

Here is a quick fun activity you can

complete about seatbelts.

Lola the Dog!

It’s easy to

stay safe on

the farm with Lola!

Staying safe is important to Tessy

and her pups when on the farmyard.

It was a bright sunny day on Lola's

family's farmyard.

Lola and her 4 newborn puppies

walked along the path down to the

field to round up farmer Joe's

sheep.

As they came to the first gate one

of the puppies asked Lola a

quaestion.

"Mam" It asked. "What does that

sign mean."

Lola thought for a moment and then

gave her pup an excellent answer.

"It tells us that the fence is

electric. It's to keep the cows in the

field."

"Ahhh" said all the pups.

Lola and her pups moved forward

through the field.

Lola spotted a slurry pit.

She told her pups to not go any

further.

"Why?" they all asked attentively.

"The fumes are extremely harmful,

you can die instantly from them."

Lola and her pups then came to

another smaller field.

There was a sign hung from the wire

fence.

"What does that sign mean?" asked

one of the pups.

"That sign means beware of the

bull. Bulls are extremely dangerous

and you should be careful when you

are near them."

“Why should we be careful Lola?”

asked the puppies.

“Bulls are very dangerous animals.

They can charge at any minute.

That’s why you should stay away

from them.”

The puppies looked at there and

walked on across the field.

It really was a beautiful day for

learning.

Electrical

safety on

the farm

When on the farm with your

parent/guardian you need to be

careful around the electrical

appliances used on the farm. An

electric fence can have a high

voltage, which means that it has a

lot of electricity running through it.

This can be dangerous for humans

as you could get electrocuted.
