Liverpool Cathedral was built for the people of Liverpool and paid for by the people of Liverpool. It now stands as one of the truly great buildings of the world. I have no doubt it has a special place in your affections.

As we approach the centenary of the cathedral’s consecration, we have the opportunity in our generation to stand on the shoulders of giants, by matching the generosity of our forebears in order to secure an inheritance for our descendants as they did for theirs.

The largest cathedral in the UK is facing a major fabric challenge. The massive roof, the majestic tower and the extraordinarily beautiful windows are all in urgent need of work. If the building to is to be passed to future generations in first class condition, we need to act now. But we are more than maintenance, we aspire to enhance the capacity of the cathedral to serve the city and region in the coming decades.

We are seeking to raise £24 million by 2024, in order to ensure that at the centenary of our consecration the fabric is sound and the facilities are fit for purpose - with five new outreach projects to equip the cathedral for mission far into the 21st century.

You could help. You could be one of only 144 Patrons of Liverpool Cathedral. Our Patrons will each pledge to give £24,000 by 2024.

Patrons may be individuals, corporate institutions or syndicates. Gifts may come as a single lump sum or in regular instalments. We hope you might be one!

As a Patron you would be forming a new and exclusive community of supporters. Your efforts will secure the future of our extraordinary building and bequeath it intact to our children and grand-children. You yourself will become part of the great story of Liverpool Cathedral.

There will only ever be 144 Patrons of Liverpool Cathedral. We intend to honour this exclusivity. If you become a Patron of Liverpool Cathedral, you will:

» Receive a Patron of Liverpool Cathedral certificate

» Receive a limited edition pin, tie or scarf exclusive to Patrons of Liverpool Cathedral

» Receive a VIP invitation to a major concert or drinks reception each year (from the time of the written pledge)

» Receive a VIP invitation to all installation services of new bishops, archdeacons, and deans (from the time of the written pledge) and to the ‘Darkness into Light’ service every Advent Sunday.

» Have your name published on the temporary ’24 for 2024’ display within the cathedral, during the decade from 19 July 2014, until the proposed new Consecration Centre has been built.

» Have your name inscribed on a dedicated Patrons of Liverpool Cathedral glass screen in new Consecration Centre (when full value of donation is reached)

To become a Patron of Liverpool Cathedral, you must make a written commitment to give £24,000 by 2024 – but you can make the gift in the way that most suits your circumstances:

» A single lump sum for the whole amount

» Annual instalments (payments to be made by July 2024)

» Monthly instalments (payments to be made by July 2024)

» A gift of shares with a market value of £24,000 at the time of the gift

» A gift of shares with a value below £24,000 with the balance made up through one-off or regular cash payments

GUARDIANS OF LIvERPOOL CATHEDRAL

There will only ever be 12 Guardians of Liverpool Cathedral, each of whom will pledge to donate £1m by 2024. Forming the Guild of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, their generosity will go a long way to ensure that his great work prospers into the next generation. The Guardians will be our most honoured members. AMBASSADORS OF LIvERPOOL CATHEDRAL

There will only ever be 24 Ambassadors of Liverpool Cathedral, each of whom will pledge to donate £240,000 by 2024. Forming the Liverpool Cathedral Embassy, their generosity and advocacy will open up new possibilities for the future transformation of people’s lives. We are seeking to recruit 400+ Centenary Builders of Liverpool Cathedral, each of whom will pledge to donate £2,400 by 2024. Together, their generosity will contribute £1m to the appeal. Our Centenary Builders will automatically be enrolled as Friends of Liverpool Cathedral. To explore becoming a Centenary Builder, please contact our 2024 Appeal Administrator.
