Dear Church Family,

I know I will probably embarrass CJ with this story, but

sometimes you just gotta say a good word about your son.

Recently, CJ had his high school prom night. A group of

about 12 guys and girls decided to get dressed up and

have dinner and then off to the school. Instead of fighting

the crowds at the restaurants, they asked if the parents

would cook for the dinner. Of course, the parents were

thrilled as it was cost effective and efficient. Anyway, the

room at one of the kids houses was set with the finest ta-

ble ware. The young adults were dressed impeccably.

Everything was in order. Right before the meal was

served, CJ asked the host mom if “my dad could say the

blessing”. Well of course, that’s what preachers do, but

this time it was special. I was asked to pray over my

son’s graduation along with all his friends and parents.

That is a memory I will always cherish.

In addition, we have a group of graduates who are submit-

ting to the same activity. We are so proud of several

youth who had done it right. They have come up through

the church, learned about God, and are making good deci-

sions about their future. They are submitting themselves

to God, who is the ultimate leader of their lives. As a

church, we understand that we must continue to pray over

them. We must know that they will make mistakes, but

we pray that the mistakes will be life lessons that shape

the future. Ultimately, each student is ready to be

launched into the world to find their way, and to honor

God.

Students, we love you, admire you, and appreciate you.

You have been a constant source of energy and blessing in

our church family. Wherever you go from here, always

remember your roots, and know that First Baptist Church

is cheering for you.

In keeping with the family theme, next weekend is Moth-

er’s Day. We are scheduling two worship services for the

overflow of people attending as well as for family con-

venience. We will be sharing worship with MOM, and

we will also be having a Baby Dedication Day as well. I

pray that you will come ready to honor all moms. MOM,

your best gift on Mother’s Day is to have your family

with you in church. Encourage you family to attend to-

gether with you. We will be having a professional pho-

tographer available to take a picture of you family “all

gussied up”. We have a surprise gift for all the moms

(Cassandra picked it out). It will be a special day!!

Blessings,
