PASSION

The contrast between the processional reading in today’s liturgy and the proclamation of the Passion is striking. We are given a glimpse of how profoundly the word of God is fulfilled in Jesus. First he must be hailed as the Messiah, the One who is to come. He must be acknowledged by all, though they do not know what they are saying. They think he is the promised king, a worldly king of the Jews who will free them from the Roman occupation. They do not yet understand, even the disciples, exactly where this triumphal procession is leading. In our lives, we too do not know where we are going. It is in faith that we can follow Christ wherever he may lead us, trusting that death is not the end, nor evil the victor. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Support the

Pontifical Good

Friday

Collection

Pope Francis has asked our parish to support Christians in the Holy Land. Through the Good Friday Collection, parishioners join with Catholics around the world to stand in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land. Contributions to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection are instrument of peace in a troubled land. In these challenging times in the Middle East, the support of the faithful means that the church will conduct parish ministry, provide Catholic education, feed the hungry, build housing for Christians, maintain shrines and operate refugee centers in the Holy Land. Christians, along with all of the clergy and religious who serve in the Holy Land, will deeply appreciate the prayers and financial help!

Please call Aralu Moreno at 949.234.1360 ext. 360 or [email protected] for more information and to sign up for this very rewarding ministry. There is a special need for Bi-lingual volunteers.

“SUFFERING WEARS A THOUSAND FACES,

AND EVERY FACE IS CHRIST.”

These are the first words of introduction in the Catholic Handbook for Visiting the Sick and Homebound. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick and Homebound are called to step across the chasm that isolates the suffering and sick who are confined to the narrow world of their homes, facilities, or board and care. Are you being called to pastoral care in the form of personal presence, prayer, and carrying Holy Communion to the sick and homebound in our parish? Contact Eileen Smith at the parish office for further information 949-234-1354 or [email protected].
