PASTOR’S noteThe Gospel this weekend reminds us that our lives and relationships with all those around us are a direct reflection of our relationship with the Lord. There is no wasted actions, kindness or mercy that we offer that is not directly related to our love of God, or lack thereof. The fact that those who are surprised by their being condemned and asking when they neglected the Lord is a good reminder to us that, as we say in the Confiteor at Mass, that many of our sinful ways may be sins of omission. Good to remember as we go to confession in Advent and start off the new liturgical year with an honest reflection of where we are in response to God’s call to holiness.

As the next few weeks are wrapping up the fiscal year, I want to remind you that there is still time to make a significant contribution to the parish and use it for tax advantages. You might have an IRA that you have to make a particular withdrawal from due to the regulations. Why not use that payout, that might not be needed for other obligations, to benefit the work of the parish and the Church? Have you made your contribution to the Renewing Our Heritage fund for this year? Look to see if there might be an opportunity to share your blessings in this way.

Next week, we begin the new liturgical year with the First Sunday of Advent. Have you thought about any spiritual new year resolutions? Read a spiritual book. Add a set of prayers to your routine. More frequent confessions or daily Mass. And there is always the blessings of the Adoration Chapel, available every day, all day. Give the Lord His due as you begin anew.

– Msgr. Tom

stewardshipof TREASURE

A special collection will be taken next weekend, Saturday & Sunday, December 2 & 3, during each Mass to support our retired, aged & infirm priests who have faithfully served in our archdiocese.

Your generous donation allows those priests who can assist in parishes to continue in their ministry in a variety of pastoral settings. This allows us to make sure our priests’ financial needs are covered.

As Monsignor Tom wrote in the October More Informed, as a stewardship parish, we do not typically take up second collections. In lieu of this, our Stewardship Committee approves a generous donation from our regular offertory on behalf of the parishioners of St. Thomas More.

However, for the upcoming Retired & Infirm Priests’ Collection, the Archdiocese of Denver has mandated that a specialcollection be taken.

Thank you verymuch for your generosity, prayers & support of our priests!

THANK YOU, Fathers!

Our priests have cared for us. Now let’s care for them.

Project 600 Toy CollectionNow through Wednesday, December 6:

Please donate unwrapped, brand-new toys (for 4- & 5-year-old children) in the labeled boxes at church entrances.

STM Youth Ministry will host preschool children from Denver for our annual Christmas party in December, and we need your help! Every child visits Santa and receives gifts. For many kids, these donated toys are the only Christmas presents they will receive this year.

A good goal for each toy donation is $10–$15, and please no toys that require batteries. Thank you for your generosity and kindness!

For questions, contact David Tschumper at [email protected] or 303.220.3388 x1. See the poster in the narthex for details.

Bring Christmas cheer and joy to children!

eGiving with Faith DirectThere is no charge to parishioners for enrolling in eGiving through Faith Direct. In fact, every family signed up means one less package of envelopes to print and mail out – and that will mean savings for St. Thomas More, which we can use to further expand our ministries throughout our community.

To enroll, please visit faithdirect.net and use our parish code: CO739. Or, scan the QR code at left with a barcode-scanning mobile app. Thank you for your support!

Try this simple approach for offertory gifts for good stewardship of treasure, time & natural resources!

IRA Charitable RolloverBy law, each IRA owner over age 70 ½ may make a transfer of up to $100,000 per year to a qualified charity. IRA charitable rollovers are tax-free and not included in adjusted gross income. An IRA charitable rollover may fulfill part or all of your required minimum distribution (RMD).

To learn how you, the Church and St. Thomas More can benefit, contact Jean Finegan at The Catholic Foundation at 303.867.0613.

A Very Special MassFor a recent school Mass, the sixth grade students processed in dressed as saints and carrying the 60 relics that STM parish has in our custody. This was a beautiful display of the communion of the saints and angels at Mass.

We were blessed with a special guest priest, Father Andre, who is visiting Pope Francis soon. The students’ group photograph at left was taken for Father Andre to bring to Rome, which he will personally ask Pope Francis to sign and then return to our parish. Wow!

Our parish school is a beautiful community of faith
