In composing a romantic memorial to his long lost love, Dvořák also created perhaps the most popular Cello Concerto ever written. Nostalgic, longing and profoundly affecting. Sir Edward Elgar, too, created a musical tribute to those closest to him. His great and noble Enigma Variations is a turn of the last century 'Facebook' of his family and friends.

His was a genius that would proclaim itself early, develop swiftly and vanish all too soon. Mozart's G-minor Symphony No.40 is his most popular and one of his great final statements in the form. The concert also features Schumann's romantic Piano Concerto.

Composer Sergei Rachmaninoff once declared, "I try to make my music speak simply and directly that which is in my heart." Rachmaninoff's ravishing Second Symphony is one of his most passionate works. This concert also features Liszt's Second Piano Concerto. It is virtuosity personified. Piano playing that is dazzling when heard. And unbelievable when it can be seen.

The Seventh Symphony. Its propulsive power and energy ranks it as one of Beethoven's most profound achievements. Enduring for almost two centuries. This concert also features Mendelssohn's enchanted music for Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream plus a spectacular concerto by Armenian master Khachatur Avetisyan.

The Pasadena Symphony is an ensemble of Southern California's most talented and in-demand musicians. With extensive credits in film, television and recordings, the artists of Pasadena Symphony are the most heard in the world. But they come together, here in Pasadena, to form a super-virtuoso symphony, performing beloved classics and popular favorites as only they can.

The Ambassador Auditorium is a jewel, not just in Southern California, but included alongside Carnegie Hall and Boston's Symphony Hall as one of the finest in the nation. Its intimate acoustics showcase the virtuoso musicians of the Pasadena Symphony. For subscribers, it's just minutes from home, with ample, close parking. You're just steps from your seat.
