Badge Alert

For identification purposes and to ensure that new police officers (and some of the existing police

officers) know you, please visibly wear your identification badge while on the premises. Also, if you have

Thank you for all the support you give the Police Department.

A Special Thanks to al l those who volunteered for the Warrant Roundup. In the two week period the Courts cleared over a thou-sand warrants with an estimated collection of $315,000.00.

This was an outstanding effort that would not have been possible without your support.

In the future the City hopes to conduct another Warrant Roundup and once again your assistance may be requested.

A Special Thank You to John Woodall and Sonny Sizemore for deploying our speed trailer on a weekly basis. This is a tremendous undertaking and helps the Police Department immensely.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the Class 22 Graduation a success.

All your assistance is greatly appreciated by the Police Department. If there is ever anything you need please free to contact me.

Notes from the President

POLICE APPRECIATION WEEK

The United States Congress dedicated the third week of May as National Police Memorial Week to honor all officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while in the line of duty. To that end, we use the same time period to show our appre-ciation for the officers who serve our beloved Community of Euless.

The main reason I became involved with the Euless Citizens Police Academy Alumni Associa-tion was to eliminate my prejudice against the police. Prior to my involvement, I had not wit-nessed or acknowledged the good police officers do, and I needed to get past that prejudice based on ignorance.

We all know they are responsible for protecting us. They are also responsible for assuring that we obey the law; unfortunately, a traffic ticket is often the result of that effort. However, they are also interested in serving the public.

Friday, May 5, I had the privilege of observing officers from different communities help parents and caregivers learn how to use car seats prop-erly. The care they showed for the children, the gentle way they handled the little ones as they

weighed and measured them, the time they took to explain everything to the adults was heart-warming. Yes, we worked too, but the officers were the driving force.

It is my humble opinion that we, in Euless, have a Police Force to be extremely proud of, to re-spect and to appreciate. They have taught me so much, and I plan to keep on learning. One thing I have happily learned is that it’s all right to hug a police officer, so be my guest.

The Hospitality Committee has been working hard to show our appreciation for our officers, and they should be commended for their efforts.

Let us all show our appreciation to our officers whenever we have the opportunity.

Thank you!

Additional Items

Al Simmenroth is working on a project involving warrants issued by the City. He needs volunteers for this week and next week to make calls to people with warrants. We will ca ll from lists provided and advise people to take care of their warrants to avoid being arrested during Warrant Roundup.
