Chicken Soup Committee

Pat Kramer 303 471 [email protected] The Chicken Soup Committee was enacted for Carolyn Hedeen…but interrupted when Carolyn had to be re-hospitalized. It will be activated when she is released. Additionally, Diana Maloney may be needing our services and perhaps Eleanor Ames will as well. I will be calling you who have volunteered. Thanks to those who have already rallied.

Three of our PNC sisters have had surgery and, to date (Apr 13) remain hospitalized. Get well cards have been sent to:

Carolyn Hedeen, who had back surgery, Marty Gath-ers who had a knee replaced, and Diana Maloney, who had a hip replaced. Two others anticipate surgery (later in Apr) – Lou Ruthrauff, for knee replacement, and our former Sunshine Lady, Eleanor Ames, for cataract surgery.

We wish all of you comfort, good healing, and rehabili-tation!

May BiographyTyke Tsiakals

Tyke, a name my grandparents called me when I was a baby stayed with me. Most people don’t know Yvonne is my real name. I prefer Tyke. I was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois, the oldest of two sisters and two brothers. They all live in northwest Wisconsin. I worked for Peoria Association for Retarded Children (PARC) and went to school part-time at Illinois State University. Joe and I went to high school together but didn’t date until eight years later. We married in 1973 and in 1974 moved to Rochester, N.Y. Our two children were born there and life was good. My introduction to a newcomers group called Welcome Wagon was there. I enjoyed many activi-ties including, bowling, golf and cross country skiing. We moved to Buffalo Grove, Illinois to be closer to fam-ily in Peoria and Wisconsin. There was no Welcome Wagon Club in BG so I helped start one. We spent one year in Cleveland, MS where everyone loved my northern accent. We returned to BG and later moved five miles to Kildeer and lived there fifteen years. I became involved with our church teaching four year olds and VBS and sing-ing in the choir. In 2000 our son married and moved to Champaign, IL. We moved that summer to Thousand Oaks, CA. I found another Newcomers Club and later served on the board. Five years later we moved to Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco. Once again a women’s newcomer group helped me adjust to a new area. Our daughter finished college and moved to Boston and married two years ago. Our son lives in Champaign with his wife and 3 children. We moved to Parker February 2010. The PNC has been a wonderful source of friendships and information to this newcomer. Life is good.
