Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ: Next weekend the parishes in our Diocese will participate in a second collection for World Mission Sunday observed on October 21, 2018. The funds raised during this collection will support more than 1,100 mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Latin America and Europe. It is in these dioceses where priests, religious and lay leaders serve some of the world’s most vulnerable communities. The theme for this year’s World Mission Sunday is Together with young people, let us bring the Gospel to all. This theme reflects the fact that we are all children of God, at every stage of life, and that we are called to serve our sisters and brothers. We, the Church, reborn in Jesus Christ, take the message of the Gospel, the joy of salvation, to the ends of the earth. With one voice, one heart and one body may we proclaim one Lord, one faith and one baptism, so that God may be glorified. The Scriptures say in Psalms 96:3, “Tell his glory among the nations; among all peoples, his marvelous deeds.” Thank you for your commitment to the faith and your spiritual and financial generosity. May God bless you and your families with every grace and peace and may our Blessed Mother always intercede for you. With gratitude for your continued generosity and

Queridas hermanas y hermanos en Cristo: El próximo fin de semana, las parroquias de nuestra Diócesis participarán en una segunda colecta para el Domingo Mundial de las Misiones que se celebrará el 21 de octubre de 2018. Los fondos recaudados durante esta colecta apoyarán a más de 1.100 misiones en diócesis en África, Asia, las Islas del Pacífico y partes de América Latina y Europa. En estas diócesis es donde están sacerdotes, religiosos y líderes laicos que sirven a algunas de las comunidades más vulnerables del mundo. El tema del Domingo Mundial de las Misiones de este año es: Junto con los jóvenes, déjanos llevar el Evangelio a todos. Este tema refleja el hecho de que todos somos hijos de Dios, en cada etapa de la vida, y que estamos llamados a servir a nuestros hermanos y hermanas. Nosotros, la Iglesia, renacidos en Jesucristo, llevamos el mensaje del Evangelio, la alegría de la salvación, hasta los confines de la tierra. Con una sola voz, un corazón y un cuerpo podemos proclamar un Señor, una fe y un bautismo, para que Dios sea glorificado. Las Escrituras dicen en el Salmo 96:3, “Proclamen su gloria entre las naciones, sus maravillas entre todos los pueblos”. Gracias por su compromiso con la fe y su generosidad espiritual y financiera.
