business, banking, healthcare, education, food service, and agricultural production – with a sprinkling of entrepreneurial

diversity thrown in for good measure – all working together for the common good.

The Paris Area Chamber of Commerce understands that in or-der to have a strong economic environment, you must have a strong community that supports and encourages growth and in-novative thinking. We are truly blessed in this area to have lead-ers, business owners, educators, and a wealth of private citizens who recognize that we all share in the responsibility of creating economic success and stability as well as a healthy community environment for our children and grandchildren.

As a community, we share the vision. We work, we volunteer, we support and serve as we build on the successes of those who came before us and develop new and innovative strategies that will make our area even better.

For many years, the Paris Area Chamber of Commerce has diligently fulfilled the mission of the founding fathers to “cre-ate, enhance, and promote the economic environment, employ-ment opportunities and the quality of life in our community and to advocate and create solutions for business and community issues.”

The Chamber is involved in numerous projects throughout the year that benefit our community. A prime example is the Spring Pancake Breakfast, an annual spring affair. The Pancake Breakfast, to be held on Saturday, March 31, at the Paris Senior Citizen’s Center, and at the same time serves to ‘kick-off’ lo-cal Spring events. The Chamber also sponsors the Academic Scholarship that provides a scholarship and savings bonds to deserving local students each year.

The chamber also sponsors other fun projects such as the annual nighttime Christmas Parade, Fall-In-To Paris, and the ever popular Christmas Parade and Supper each holiday sea-son. These events promote local businesses and encourage Paris Area citizens and visitors alike to patronize the local business establishments.

The Chamber works with other local civic and private groups to encourage new business development, to create awareness of problems facing our community and to develop potential solu-tions, to be a source of information and support for business owners, and to maintain and enhance the good that is the Paris Area.

As the 2012 Chamber President, I am honored to serve along-side our “army” of volunteers that work out-front and behind the scenes to build a better Paris Area for all citizens. That is the uniqueness of our community. We think outside the box, we work together to make things happen, and we support the efforts of all.

Dr. Art Griswold opened Paris Veterinary Clinic to serve the ani-mals of the Paris area in 1969. The original location of the business was on the North Washington property where NECAC is currently located in downtown Paris. Griswold operated the business solely at this location until 1978 when he bought the property at the clinic’s current location - 25010 Business Highway 24. Dr. Mac Wilt joined on to offer his veterinary services in 1979 and the two worked and co-owned the clinic until 1995 when Griswold retired.

Basic care for small animals provided by the Paris vets include vac-cinations, heart worm testing, internal parasite exams, flea and tick treatments, and annual physicals.

Paris Veterinary Clinic carries a full line of vaccines and prescrip-tion products on-site for both large and small animals. They offer the Science Diet line of food for dogs and cats plus a specialty food line of Prescription Diet to address overweight, hair ball, dental, or uri-nary tract issues in your pets. Items for topical wound and infection

treatment for general care of small and large animals such as wraps, thermometers, an-tiseptics, etc. are kept in sup-ply. A variety of leash sizes, collars, and tags (personalized engraving available) can also be purchased at the clinic. The clinic is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
