An Overview What is Kids In College? Kids in College is a summer enrichment program for students who are interested in science, sports, Harry Potter, swimming and many other enrichment opportunities. The program is staffed by a variety of enthusiastic, imaginative teachers interested in working with motivated students. The program is hosted by Ohio University-Chillicothe and coordinated by the Ross County Educational Service District. Who may attend? Students who are highly motivated to participate in summer learning in a relaxed, fun environment may attend. What ages may attend? Most classes are offered for students who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade. However, some classes are appropriate for students up through eighth grade. Class descriptions offer specific grade recommendations. PLEASE CHECK THESE RECOMMENDATIONS CAREFULLY. How are classes scheduled? Students may take up to six classes. Each class runs one week, either in a morning or afternoon session. A minimum of twelve students is needed to ensure each class is offered. It is recommended that students register early since class enrollment is limited to twenty students (less in some classes). How much does it cost? The cost is $30.00 per class for week 1 and $27.00 per class for week 2. Some classes require additional material fees. Please check class description for additional fee requirements. A Kids in College T-shirt may be purchased for $8.00. Child is enrolled when payment received. Lunch - Week 1 ONLY Your child may pack, with a $10.00/week charge for supervision. Also students should pack a drink, since vending machines on campus are not easily accessible. Snack Break Week 1 ONLY A snack break will be taken mid-morning and mid-afternoon. You may pack a snack or purchase one in the snack room. The entire class and teacher will walk to the snack room together. $3 is sufficient for purchasing a food item and a drink. During week 2, no official snack break will be taken. Orientation A parent/student orientation will be held in the OU-C auditorium (basement of Bennett Hall) at 9:30 & 12:30 on Monday of week 1. For week 2, parents and students will meet the instructor at the OU-C tennis courts, or at the YMCA.
