PARENT CIRCULAR 3 /2020

From the Principal’s pen A hearty good day from VOSSIE LAND. As usual the Red Machine is going from

strength to strength at full speed.

Congratulations to each Vossie who participated in the Janus Robberts athletics meeting in Polokwane; swimmers who participated in the Limpopo Northern sprint and set up new records; and the 1st cricket team who won the T20-final for the 3rd year in a row. (see reports on our web page, face book and instagram). The Prestige Athletics meeting takes place on home ground today. Do come and support our athletes. During the weekend our cricketers will be playing Hoërskool Eldoraigne in the Finsbury league. All the best to all those representing the Vossies. Parents must please note that term tests are in full swing. You are once again reminded of the free extra lessons for grade 8 to 11 learners on Wednesdays at the school. The grade 12 learners receive free extra classes daily. The time tables have been handed to the learners. Please make use of the opportunity You are wished a blessed weekend. Greetings

GENERAL: Vossie identity Thank you very much to each Vossie who has bought into the new tradition of wearing a

blazer and tie on Mondays. The boys also wear long trousers. Note that the girls now have

their own unique tie knot, just as the boys have. Please support the Vossies in this respect

– it is integral to the strengthening of the Vossie-identity.

Parent Teachers Partnership (PTA) Please take note of the Parent Teachers Partnership meeting on Monday 10 February, 2020 in the school staff-room at 17.30. All parents are urged to attend, as such a partnership is essential in building strong relationships between teachers and parents. A separate email has been sent out in this regard. Should you not receive one, please contact the school office with your correct email address.

ACADEMICS:

Scheduled tests Tests are scheduled for every Tuesday and Friday, as well as the last day of the term. Should a learner not be able to write a test as a result of illness of other urgent commitments, you must write a letter to Mr De lange. Such arrangements must be made in advance. The learner will then write the “sick test” on the Monday (Friday tests) or Wednesday afternoon (Tuesday tests) immediately following the test date. All arrangements regarding test absence must be directed to Mr De Lange. Should no valid arrangements be made, the learner will receive 0% for the test. Weekend and holiday arrangements are not valid arrangements.

Learners who qualify for special exam concessions If there are any learners who would still like to apply for special exam concessions, you need to contact Ms Adéle du Plessis at 015 3074490 urgently. The applications must be submitted to the Department of Education in March. A report from an educational psychologist/ therapist or a similarly qualified professional person must accompany the application.

IT/CAT Fund Raising Please support our IT/CAT learners by purchasing calculators and memory sticks from Ms Nortje in room 97. Printing and laminating can also be done through Ms Nortje.
