Dear Parents:

This past Wednesday report cards were sent home during Advisory. If you did not re-ceive it, please ask your child about it and/or call the Middle School Guidance O ce at840 -8555. Please take some me to review the teachers comments with your child,iden fying areas of strength and areas for growth. As part of the discussion, considerhelping your child set short -term, a ainable goals that enable them to take ini a vefor their own learning and make steady progress. Other areas and skills worth honing

may be me management and organiza on skills. If you have any ques ons or con-cerns about your childs level of achievement, please contact the appropriate subjectarea teacher or guidance counselor.

This week we are hos ng the AMIS (Associa on for Music in Interna onal Schools) Mid-dle School Honor Orchestra Fes val. Approximately y students from 12 di erentschools have been involved in workshops and rehearsals in prepara on for the nalconcert on January 25 at 6:00 P.M. in the FAT. We had a concert preview during ourMiddle School assembly and the orchestra sounded phenomenal. All members of theschool community are welcome to a end so please join usyou will not be disappoint-ed. A big thank you to all the families that are hos ng the visi ng musicians and toMarsha Hillman and Guime Odendaal for all their e orts in organizing a memorableexperience for the students.

On Thursday, January 30 at 7:45 A.M. we are hos ng a Middle School New ParentCo ee. Please join us and meet some other ISM families.

Next school year we are implemen ng a Bring Your Own Device ini a ve for grades 7and 8 and we would like to see all students bring a personal laptop to school. We havediscussed this ini a ve on a few occasions in Parent Co ee mee ngs since the start ofthe year and informa on is also available through the Middle School blog. Season 2 is rapidly coming to a close with the IASAS Cham-pionships less than two weeks away. Venues for IASAS 2ndseason championships are as follows.Jakarta for Basket-

ball, Rugby/Touch at Singapore (*note venue change dueto poli cal uncertainty in Bangkok), Tennis at Kuala Lum-pur and at ISM for swimming.

The season 3 tryouts schedule and the 3rd season prac ceschedule is now posted on the tryouts and schedules pag-es of the (ATAC blog).

2nd season prac ces for all teams will concludeon February 4th.

Saturday Community Tennis resumes February15th through un l the end of May.... see the yer on theblog for dates and details. This is open to ISM community

Congratula ons to our varsity girls Touch team who wonthe local Luzon Ladies League compe on last Saturday

and our VGirls Basketball defeated La Salle Zobel last Sat-urday to con nue their undefeated run this season. TheVGirls Basketball team will now play in the semi nals of

the ISSA league compe on a er the Hardeman Cup tour-nament this weekend. Dates are s ll to be con rmed forISSA League semis/ nals.

Leaving ISM?

For those students that will be withdrawing from Interna onal School Manila this school year (SY 13-14), the following procedure applies:

Parents are obliged to o cially inform the Admissions O ce in wri ng through a Withdrawal No -ca on Form at least een (15) days prior to your childs last day of school.

For those leaving at the end of the school year, you MUST submit a Withdrawal No-ca on Form on or before May 09, 2014.

Failure to do so will lead to a deduc on of US$1,000 from the Facili es Upgrade Deposit (FUD) in

compensa on for having held a space for the child and thus preven ng the School from o eringthat space to another child prior to the summer holiday break.

The Withdrawal No ca on Form can be obtained from the Admissions O ce or downloaded fromthe ISM website here .
