Paramus Catholic continues to maintain its firm commitment to the Arts. In addition to its for-credit elective classes in Art, Music, Dance, Theatre, and Video Production, PC also offers a multi-disciplinary, year long Performing Arts program. Through the school’s schedule of plays, musicals, concerts and talent shows, students have the opportunity to perform, work backstage, build and paint sets, coordinate costumes, and operate lighting and sound, all under the supervision of an award winning faculty. Studies have shown that students exposed to the Arts not only do better on standardized testing, but also develop increased self-confidence, self-discipline, and interpersonal skills. At Paramus Catholic, the Arts are just one component of our commitment to the total student.

9 Campus Ministry

Effective leadership must be rooted in a strong foundation consisting of service, mission, and an individual’s talents. Paramus Catholic offers a wide variety of opportunities for all students to become leaders of the future. Through numerous service projects, retreats, and other local organizations, each student can build their own character, but most importantly, shape their relationship with God. As one body of Christ, we come together to form a community to serve one another and to achieve great things through our works. Paramus Catholic’s leadership mission is to bring students together to celebrate their abilities, partake in activities that promote moral behavior, construct a collaborative community, demonstrate social responsibility and develop a commitment to excellence. The service and leadership potential presented create essential skills that form a successful life. These memorable experiences can have a lasting impact on one’s self, peers, or those they serve.16

“The Appalachia service trip is a once in a lifetime, life-changing experience. I had the opportunity to help those less fortunate than I, meet new friends, and make lasting memories that I will remember forever. This adventure was the best thing that ever happened to me. It shaped me into the person I am today and I am proud of that.” - Michael Meyer ‘19

Paramus Catholic follows an up-front cost policy for tuition and fees. There are no “tack-on” fees. Tuition increases have averaged only about $207 a year for the past twenty years. Families who do not choose the prepayment options participate in the FACTS Tuition Management program. This involves 11 monthly debits to their credit cards or checking account from June-April.

SCHOLARSHIPSParamus Catholic acknowledges students who have demonstrated exceptional academic ability. At the time of acceptance, an applicant with an outstanding score on the entrance exam, and an excellent record of academic achievement in elementary school, may be eligible for the Aquinas Scholars program. This is a rigorous, challenging sequence of courses designed for highly motivated, academically gifted students. Entrance into the program is by invitation only, as determined by performance on the Archdiocesan admissions exam, as well as academic achievement in grades seven and eight. All students selected for the program will receive a substantial scholarship. To encourage future success, these scholarships are renewable each year, provided the recipient remains in the program. There are no scholarship awards for athletics.

PC FINANCIAL AIDFamilies with serious need are encouraged to apply for financial aid through our website. Information sheets are available from the Business Office. The deadline is April 30th. Aid requests are processed confidentially through an outside service. Awards are granted solely on need. Athletic Participation is not a consideration. The Newark Archdiocesan Sponsored Program: Scholarship Fund for Inner City Children: The applicants with the greatest need will be considered for this program. Further information and applications are available online at www.SFICNJ.org.

Registration for the Catholic High School Entrance Exam (HSPT) must be completed by the second week in October. Test registration is online at www.njcoopexam.org.

The Guidance Department works collaboratively to enhance the mission of Paramus Catholic: fostering the spiritual, academic, and social development of each student. Guidance counselors serve the students in all grades. In 9th grade, the focus is on the transition into high school and academic success. With 10th through 12th graders, academic progress continues to be monitored. Counselors intervene and assist students who may be experiencing difficulties and encourage the students who are achieving success.

Counselors facilitate parent-teacher and student-teacher meetings as needed. The 12th grade guidance program focuses on the college application process. College advisement includes personal interviews with each student, as well as with parents. Students and families utilize the Family Connection portion of Naviance. The Guidance Department sponsors a College Fair and seminars for parents and students on the college application process and financial aid.

In addition, the Guidance Department coordinates all standardized testing (PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP) and provides additional information to help students make wise academic decisions.

The PC Class of 2017 was offered $71,000,000 in scholarships and grants, and received about $20,000,000 from the schools they will attend. Thus, the average college award accepted by the class was $50,000 each, more than their four years of tuition at PC.
