Panther Post A Message from Mr. SpringerIts amazing that we are already in October and more than halfway through the first quarter of school. As we enter the fall season, we are in full swing with academics and are looking forward to great success as the year progresses. By now you should have seen your childs interim report for the first quarter. If you would like to schedule a meeting with your childs teachers, please contact Mrs. Monti in our Guidance Department at 954-340-4134. In addition, please look for your child to bring home his/her report card in mid-November. It is important that you play a role in your child's academics and encourage their maximum effort. Should your child need additional assistance in specific classes, have your child to co- ordinate with their teachers to receive extra help after school. As a school we value the relationships with our parents and focus on the best interest of their child. As far as Open House, I feel that it was an incredible success. The feedback and involvement is what I look forward to for the remainder of this school year. I ap- preciate those who attended our first PTSO meeting following our Open House that evening. If you have not already done so, please consider joining the PTSO. The cost is $15 per family and you will receive two parent volunteer hours. The money is used to fund the many activities & projects for the school. I encourage all of our parents to start early and often with their involvement in our many meetings that al- low you to begin earning hours towards your volunteer requirement. Your attendance at PTSO, SAC, and Guidance programs keep you abreast of current school activities and provides us an opportunity to receive your valuable feedback. I love to see you on our campus or at events in the community because I enjoy the family environment that we have created over the years. Our Homecoming game is scheduled for Thursday, October 17th at the Sportsplex. At the game we look forward to welcoming back our alumni, honoring their presence. We will be hosting a tailgate prior to the game from 5 PM-7 PM. Hope to see you all there!!! The Homecoming dance will be held on Friday, October 18th at the Heron Bay Mar- riott. This years theme is Miami Vice”. SGA is looking for donations in return for parent volunteer hours. Please contact Ms. Parks at [email protected] for more information. GO PANTHERS!!!!!

A Message from Mr. Springer…

It’s amazing that we are already in October and more than halfway through the first quarter of school. As we enter the fall season, we are in full swing with academics and are looking forward to great success as the year progresses.

By now you should have seen your child’s interim report for the first quarter. If you would like to schedule a meeting with your child’s teachers, please contact Mrs. Monti in our Guidance Department at 954-340-4134. In addition, please look for your child to bring home his/her report card in mid-November. It is important that you play a role in your child's academics and encourage their maximum effort. Should your child need additional assistance in specific classes, have your child to co-ordinate with their teachers to receive extra help after school. As a school we value the relationships with our parents and focus on the best interest of their child.

As far as Open House, I feel that it was an incredible success. The feedback and involvement is what I look forward to for the remainder of this school year. I ap-preciate those who attended our first PTSO meeting following our Open House that evening. If you have not already done so, please consider joining the PTSO. The cost is $15 per family and you will receive two parent volunteer hours. The money is used to fund the many activities & projects for the school. I encourage all of our parents to start early and often with their involvement in our many meetings that al-low you to begin earning hours towards your volunteer requirement.

The Homecoming dance will be held on Friday, October 18th at the Heron Bay Mar-riott. This year’s theme is “Miami Vice”. SGA is looking for donations in return for parent volunteer hours. Please contact Ms. Parks at [email protected] for more information.

What a great month September was for the National Honor Society! The month kicked off with our first General Membership meeting. Over 120 members were present in the chorus room and the ones that were not, all had written excuses from coaches or workplace manag-ers. The agenda of the meeting was to get everybody fired up for a great year. Members heard information about dues amounts and due dates. Then members were reminded to make sure they were on the REMIND messaging system and the text was also posted on the front board. There was a tour of the NHS website CSCSNHS.ORG where members can see their compliance tallies, photos, and news of future events and tutoring opportunities. Finally, members were presented with all the opportunities available to them in September. Middle School math tutoring began in Ms. Sonders’ room. For three weeks in a row, (so far) at least 15 NHS members tutored over 20 middle school students in math. The younger kids love the personal care that our members offer when helping them with math. Parkland Buddy Sports began, and it’s flag football season. This is where our members play organized sports with mentally and physically challenged kids from all over the county. Of the 50 volunteers from all the area schools, 30 are from CSCS NHS. This is every Saturday afternoon. Next month starts soccer, track and field buddies. On September 14th, we participated in the “Keep Coral Springs Beautiful” initiative by cleaning the parks on our adopted street, Riverside Drive. 30 members marched up and down the street cleaning garbage from the parks, bus stops and canals. Over 80 pounds of garbage had been removed including such items as a shopping cart, fire extinguisher, car seat, and volumes of beer cans and alcohol bottles. Last year we won an award for the most garbage collected. We intend on winning again this year. Some of those that participated in the morning clean up participated in Buddy sports later that day! It was a great month and a great start of the year. Remember; members must maintain an unweighted GPA of 3.25, perform 6 hours of tutoring and attend three NHS events each se-mester. [email protected] for more information.
