FLUSHING SERVICE is a trademark owned by PANOLIN, the specialist in biodegradable lubricants who provides you with the means to render your equipment compliant in only a few hours and at low cost.

To substitute PANOLIN HLP SYNTH oil for mineral-based oil in hydraulic equipment, PANOLIN recommends the following procedure: follow points 1 to 5 and, for used equipment, follow point 7 as well.

1. DrainingDrain the hydraulic oil (brought to operating temperature) from the entire system (oil tank, cylinder, radiator, major oil lines, etc.). Inspect the oil tank and clean if needed.

2. FiltersReplace the filter cartridges. PANOLIN HLP SYNTH is neutral to the usual filter materials. It is therefore not essential to take any special action for the filters.

3. FlushingAfter a thorough emptying of the oil, fill the machine to 30-50% of system content depending on type of machine. We recommend that you rinse with a PANOLIN HLP SYNTH oil of the same viscosity grade as the one planned for operational use. Once it is filled with its flushing liquid, start up the machine and perform all its working operations several times with the motor running slowly. Then, fully drain the flushing liquid (as indicated in point 1).

Note: Throughout the hydraulic system flushing process, air should not enter the hydraulic system and or/ form air pockets. Badly used flushing liquids can do more harm than good on the viscosity of the oil used later and may reduce its efficiency.

4. FillingAfter flushing, fill the hydraulic system with the nominal quantity of PANOLIN HLP SYNTH. If needed, bleed the air completely from the system before running it. At this point, the system is ready for use.

5. starting/controlThe operating liquid must be regularly submitted for examination in laboratories accredited by Envirolin, but no later than the intervals shown below (subject to specific signed agreements which have priority):

6. mixesMixing with other biologically fast decomposable oils (such as hydraulic liquids HEES, HEPR, HETG, HEPG per ISO 15‘380 or VDMA 24‘568) is not authorized. The residual portion of mineral oils (such as hydraulic oils HLP, HVLP per DIN 51‘524) must not exceed 5% of the total quantity for technical reasons, in as much as mineral oil is a known/approved commercially available hydraulic liquid that is appropriate for the same use. In case of doubt, consult our technical service. Mixes can reduce performance or result in environmental incompatibilities and can greatly reduce the exceptional quality of PANOLIN HLP SYNTH. In compliance with ISO 15‘380 and VDMA 24‘568, it is permitted to mix a maximum of 2% mineral-based oils with rapidly biodegradable liquid. We recognize only the analytical results of laboratories accredited by Envirolin.Manufacturer’s notes/prescriptionsSome equipment manufacturers require that the proportion of third-party oils be significantly less than 5%. In such cases, the manufacturer’s prescriptions absolutely must absolutely be respected. PANOLIN substitution instructions are subordinate to the manufacturer’s prescriptions. Note / RAL-UZ 79, Blue Angel, Ex t ract f rom the RAL Manual / P roduct requirements:“When changing to biologically fast decomposable hydraulic liquids, VDMA 24‘569 guidelines must be complied with.”

7. microfiltrationWhen changing the oil of used machines, especially machines with several thousand hours of operation, the high cleaning function of PANOLIN HLP SYNTH must be taken into account. In such cases, it is possible that after substitution sediment can loosen from the hydraulic system and cause disturbances. In extreme cases, the unclogging of seals may result in slightly increased leakage. To avoid disturbances and to prevent a qualitative deterioration of the operating liquid, the hydraulic system should be filtered immediately after it is re-commissioned, by means of a microfiltration system (preferably before 100 hours of operation).

When using microfilters, the following factors should be considered:• Mud-absorption capacity must be as high as possible• Filter fineness/retention rate must be such that it can guarantee a cleanliness code < 15/11 as per ISO 4406• Water from condensation must be retained in the filter cartridge (water content > 0.1% can cause damage).

8. DisposalAs a saturated ester, PANOLIN HLP SYNTH can be disposed of thermally as well as naturally. The user therefore has the same options for disposal and recycling as users of mineral-based oils. Restrictions could apply if PANOLIN HLP SYNTH is mixed with significant quantities of rapeseed oil or unsaturated esters.
