In the room pictured above midtone BeadedVictorian lends itself to a warm and inviting yetformal living room. Used in a children’s playroom, the tough finish can absorb years of punishmentand still retain its character. Like all StatesIndustry panels, Beaded just gets better with age.Stains or marks are easily removed with any goodhousehold detergent.

BeadedUnfinished
Unfinished versions in both low and middle priceranges allow the consumer to paint or stain tomatch existing woodwork. This option allowsfor control of the ambient effects of both naturaland artificial lighting. Many decorators considerlighting the single most critical element in anyinterior design, and yet it is often entirelyoverlooked by the nonprofessional.

Installation Tips
Acclimate New PanelsPanels should be stored in the room theywill be installed in, at normaltemperature for a period of 24 hours.Separate the panels with a spacer to allowair to circulate around them. Thisprocedure allows the wood to adjust tothe humidity and temperature, andprevents any shrinkage or expansionafter installation.
Detailed installation instructionsare available from your panelsupplier. The following tips arespecific to natural wood panelsand should be observed in additionto general installation instructions.
Prearrange Your PanelsStates Industries’ panels are made withnatural wood veneers. Each panel is adistinctive blend of color and grainvariations. Prior to installation, youshould stand the panels upright aroundthe room to achieve the most pleasingeffect. Note that there is a top andbottom to each panel. Once you havedetermined placement, number thepanels to avoid confusion.
Allow Adequate ClearanceThere is a tendency to fit panels as tightlyas possible. While this is understandable,it is not a good practice. Butt panelssnugly along their sides, but allow aminimum of 1/8” space at the top andbottom. This space will be covered bymoulding, and will not be visible.Spacing allows the panel, as well as thewall it mounts, to expand and contractwith changes in temperature andhumidity. All States Industries

Paneling comes in 4-foot widths andmost of the time it takes one panel tocover 4 lineal feet unless the room hassome exceptionally large windows orsliding glass doors. Measure the lengthsof the walls you intend to panel and dividethe total lineal feet by 4 and this will bethe number of panels you will need tocomplete your project. For installation the basic tools that youwill need are a hammer, nail set, measuringtape, straight edge, string with a weightor a level, crosscut saw, and a drill.
