PANACEA
RELEASE NOTES
VERSION 2.0
HOW TO USE THIS DOCUMENT
This document contains a list of major changes that were made to each release of the PANACEA software. The
release notes are not an exhaustive list of every minor change. Only noteworthy changes are included, such as bug
fixes, new features, new Units Under Test (UUT), and new applications.
All major and minor versions of PANACEA are included. Most minor versions of PANACEA (e.g. 1.6.2) are not formally
released. However, it is important to read the release notes from the minor version to have an accurate
understanding of what has changed between two major versions. For example, if you would like to know what has
changed between version 1.6 and version 1.7, you should read the 1.6.1, 1.6.2, and 1.7 sections.

PANACEA VERSION 2.0
Important Change: PANACEA 2.x represents a new product line for Talen-X. The PANACEA 2.x line will support
ongoing upgrades to BroadSim, supporting new features as they become available. PANACEA 2.x does not include
support for Spirent, LabSat, or Agilent hardware- the PANACEA 1.x product line will continue supporting these. Data
can be imported from PANACEA 1.x using the same tools as
New Feature: GLONASS Constellations
New Feature: BeiDou Constellations
New Feature: Galileo Constellations
New Feature: GLONASS downlink data mods
New Feature: BeiDou downlink data mods*
New Feature: Galileo downlink data mods*
New Feature: Jamming with BroadSim
- AWGN, BPSK, CW, Pulsed CW, Swept CW, BOC waveforms supported
- Number of waveforms limited only by BroadSim computational power
New Feature: Custom python API support for scenarios
- PANACEA 2.x broadcasts a UDP stream to port 3003, allowing users to create their own
applications to run during a scenario, parallel to PANACEA. Two python files are provided as an
example: example.py and Printer.py. The API provides the scenario directory, duration, status,
and current time of the running scenario.
New Feature: Comparable downlink data reports in Panorama. The output of these reports makes it easy to compare
data received from different receivers.
Bug Fix: Retrospective: Fixed multiple crashes
* BeiDou and Galileo data mods not yet supported by BroadSim

PANACEA VERSION 1.13
New Receiver: Android (USB)
New Receiver: Honeywell - INR
New Receiver: Honeywell - MMR
New Receiver: MicroModular - MN5515HS
New Receiver: Spectracom - NetClock 9389
New Receiver: Ublox - UART
New Application: Introducing Retrospective! An analysis tool designed to look at data from a BroadSense device.
New Application: Introducing PANACEA Field Test, a new application designed to help you collect data in real time
during field tests.
New Feature: PANACEA: supports BroadSim 17.1.4.A.
New Feature: Panorama: The zoom levels are remembered! Axes of plots will be held constant as you move between
different plots, receivers, etc.
New Feature: Panorama: Improved how you add and remove data sources.
New Feature: Panorama: Improved the sort order of items within a data source.
New Feature: PANACEA: Custom Spirent Scenarios! You can specify the location of a Spirent scenario that you built
yourself. You have full control of the Spirent scenario while PANACEA continues to control the other aspects of the
simulation.
New Feature: Panorama: You can add a custom header and footer to all reports that Panorama generates. This is
particularly useful for classification markings.
New Feature: PANACEA: You can control receivers while PANACEA is running. (e.g. connect, disconnect, cold start,
etc.)
New Feature: PANACEA: Some combinations of ETs and Y-Code enabled simulators don't work. PANACEA now
warns you when you try to run such a scenario.
New Feature: PANACEA: The multi-constellation used for the ET is now based on the ET Rx location, instead of the Rx
location. This allows the ET Rx location to be far away and the scenario will still run properly.
New Feature: PANACEA: Improved the real-time map.
New Feature: RxStudio: Receivers that only report one altitude type will now report both MSL (Mean sea level) and
HAE (Height above ellipsoid; WGS84). The non-tidal EGM96 (Earth Gravitational Model 96) is used to calculate the
GeoId offset between MSL and HAE.
New Feature: RxStudio: Colored fields! The text color of values in the NavDataFrame can be set to different colors.
This has been used to indicate which values decoded from the receiver are estimated or calculated (such when a
receiver only provides MSL altitude and the plugin calculates the HAE altitude).

PANACEA VERSION 1.12
New Receiver: Microsemi - SyncServer S650
New Receiver: Swift Navigation - Piksi
New Receiver: Symmetricom - TimeSource 3500
New Receiver: TesCom - StarClock TiemPo 6400A
Important Change: PANACEA: The GPS Constellation builder code types (CA P Y M) are now enabled/disabled for L1
and L2 independently. By default, L2 signals are disabled. If you want to use L2 signals in your simulation, open the
GPS Constellation builder and make the appropriate selections.
New Feature: PANACEA: In previous versions, if you wanted to turn an SV completely off for a scenario, you could
mark it unhealthy. This causes some issues (mainly, how do you simulate unhealthy SVs?) so we have fixed it. Each
SV now has an “Enabled” property in the GPS Constellation builder. We’ve automatically set all of your previously
healthy SVs to “Enabled” and your previous unhealthy SVs to “Disabled”. The result is that you can now control if a
SV is on or off, and independently control if it is healthy or not.
New Feature: RxStudio: We’ve updated to plots that show up in RxStudio. They look a lot better now. We also
added a really cool map. If you are connected to the internet, you will see where the receivers on the map. Use your
scroll wheel to zoom, left click to pan, and double click to center on the receiver.
New Feature: PANACEA: We’ve added support for the first official release of BroadSim (version 16.11.0.A).
New Feature: PANACEA: We’ve added a “screenshot” event to the event group builder. You can use this event to
have PANACEA take a screen shot of your desktop and save it into the scenario directory. This can be useful to
collect data from other applications (like Spike). It can also be used to debug tricky issues that happen throughout
the night. This feature doesn’t work well with things like screen savers, monitors that go to sleep, and screen lock.

Important Change: The way you specify the com port for receivers that use the Ballard controller has changed.
Please contact support for assistance when using the Ballard controller.
New Feature: PANACEA: We’ve increased the number of Agilent jammers that you can use. To use more than two
jammers, you will need to use multiple GPIBs. Each GPIB supports two jammers, but for performance reasons we
recommend that you use one GPIB device for each jammer.
New Feature: PANACEA: We’ve added a new parameter to the Scenario builder called “Start Time Offset”. This
parameter is an offset that is applied to the normal “Start Time” object. This parameter is especially useful when your
“Start Time” is “Time Sync” or “TruthRx”. When using a Spirent simulator, your “Start Time Offset” will have to be a
multiple of 6 seconds.
New Feature: PANACEA: We’ve added a new object called “SV Commands”. You can command SVs to turn On or
Off at specified times throughout the scenario. As with many of our builders, you can use an SV number of “0” to
mean “All SVs”.
New Feature: RxStudio: We’ve added more downlink data to the SV Book tab of RxStudio. This includes MNAV,
GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou downlink data.
