The baby, because he’s a little Bigger. Ed Sheeran Ed Sheeran is a gifted guitarist who has honed his craft since picking up the guitar at age nine — after hearing Eric Clapton's Layla. Ed, 22, has made a name for himself with soulful folk narratives but he also has a talent for rapid-fire rapping which has earned him a string of awards and seen him tagged "the new voice of this generation". Ed started recording his own EPs at 14, left school and his home in Sussex at 16 to live and work in London — with just one gig booked — and two years later was playing more than 300 shows a year. His parents were integral in instilling the young Sheeran's love of music — he grew up listening to his dad's favourites, such as Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, the Beatles, Elton John and Clifford T. Ward. "And that was pretty much it," he says. "My dad's never been into rock music, ever; we've never had a Queen CD in the house." It was his father who also supported his move to London. "He's always encouraged me to really do something that I love, like get a job that I love, not go to university but start a profession that I really enjoyed, he really supported that," Ed says. The songs that have helped Ed find musical fame are The A Team, Lego House and Give Me Love.
