CHILDREN’S EXPLANATIONS OF ANGELS! “I know the names of two angels, Hark and Harold.” Gregory, Age 5 “Everybody’s got it wrong. Angels don’t wear halos anymore. I forget why, but scientists are working on it.” Olive, Age 9. “It’s not easy to become an angel! First you die, then you go to Heaven, and then there’s still the flight training to go through. And then you got to agree to wear those angel cloths.” Matthew, 9. “Angels work for God and watch over kids when God has to do something else.” Mitchell, Age 7. “Angels don’t eat, but they drink milk from Holy Cows.” Jack, Age 6. “What I don’t get about angels is why, when someone falls in love, they shoot arrows at them.” Sarah, Age 7. Thanks for setting the record straight, boys and girls!
“MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!”
One of my favorite paintings during the Christmas Season is the work of artist Morgan Weistling entitled, “Kissing the Face of God.”
Morgan explains, "I started to contemplate the awesome privilege that Mary was given, being able to hold God in her arms, but also keeping in mind that He was still her baby. This cute little child whom she bore was also God in the flesh. And yet, she cuddled and kissed Him, just as all mothers do with their babies. This thought propelled me right into this painting, which I wanted to be a very human representation of divinity. My prayer is that the viewer will be struck, as I am, with the amazing way that God chose to send His Son into this world — in pure humility."
How wonderful that as Catholics we hold Mary in such high esteem, and rightfully so, as she is not only the Mother of Jesus (God’s only Begotten Son) but also the Mother of the Church. May this painting enkindle in you affection for Mary and deepen your appreciation of God’s magnificent love shown to us through Jesus, whose birth we celebrate during this Most Holy Season! Christmas Blessings, Everyone!

What’s happening in
Faith Formation?
The Office of Faith Formation wishes to extend to all of our families
and the entire parish community our wishes for a blessed and joyful
Christmas.
The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to
you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in
the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Christ and
Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in
swaddling clothes and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was a
multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and say-
ing:" Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on
whom his favor rests."
Question of the Week: Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the
Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Do you say
YES to God?
Advent Wreath Blessing: Week Four:
The first and second and third purple candles and the pink candle are lit,
and the prayer is said tonight night.
Let us pray as Advent draws to a close, that Christ will truly come into our
hearts. Lord, fill our hearts with your love, and as you revealed to
us by an angel the coming of your Son as man, so lead us
through his suffering and death to the glory of his resurrection,
for he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Imagine how Mary felt at the birth of Jesus: excited, awed, frightened.
Deep faith was her light in the darkness, for Jesus was born during the
night of the year when darkness is the longest.
Your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul brought light
into the darkness surrounding the heart of those living in poverty bringing
them the real, lasting, and deep joy of Christmas.
