Mark Nesheim, president, M/N Farm, Inc., 7390 51st ST NW, Palermo, ND 58769-9525. June 17, 24, July 1, 8, 2020 Senator John Hoeven last week issued the following statement af- ter the Federal Reserve Board an- nounced that it is further expanding its Main Street Lending Program to benet more small and mid-size businesses. The Fed is lowering the minimum loan amounts, while also increasing loan maximums, extend- ing the length of the loan terms and providing a two-year moratorium on principal payments for all loan facil- ities. Interest payments are deferred for one year. These changes align with Ho- Hoeven: Federal Reserve Expands Main Street Lending Program To Benet Small & Mid-Size Businesses even’s efforts to ensure businesses in North Dakota have access to credit and follow an earlier expan- sion to the loan facilities. “These are welcome changes that will help ensure a wider range of businesses can benet from the Main Street Lending Program,” said Hoeven. “Access to credit is an im- portant tool for maintaining these businesses’ operations and will sup- port a stronger recovery as we con- tinue to safely re-open the economy. We want to ensure that our state’s businesses have access to capital.” The North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) has received notication from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that they have ordered the cancellation of the registrations for Xtendimax, FeXa- pan and Engenia, products used in over-the-top applications on Dicam- ba-tolerant soybeans. “At the direction of the EPA we have canceled our state registrations of these products, which prohibits any further sale of them,” Agricul- ture Commissioner Doug Goeh- ring said. “However, EPA provides for the use of any product that had already been purchased prior to EPA Orders Cancellation Of Dicamba Products; Includes Provisions For Existing Stocks the cancellation as long as all label requirements are followed. This means that growers or commercial applicators may use existing stocks that were in their possession before the cancellation.” The state 24c Special Local Needs label still applies and directs that no applications may be made after June 30 or after the rst bloom (R1 growth phase), whichever comes rst. The cancellation notice may be found at https://www.epa/gov/sites/ production/files/2020-06/docu- ments/final_cancellation_order_ for_three_dicamba_products.pdf. The North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA) recently announced a ve-year ex- tension of Farmers Union Insur- ance’s (FUI) designation as the organization’s Premier Partner of extra and co-curricular activities for students in North Dakota. The ex- tended agreement supports a wide range of high school events through the 2025-26 academic year, includ- ing six annual scholarships for the NDHSAA Distinguished Student Program. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Farmers Union In- surance. They have demonstrated a commitment to the NDHSAA and its 171 member schools, as well as NDHSAA Extends FUI’s Premier Partner Status high school students and fans across the state,” said Matt Fetsch, NDH- SAA executive director. Farmers Union Insurance has been NDHSAA’s Premier Partner since 2008. “We’ve proudly spon- sored, supported and celebrated high school students, both on and off the eld, for years,” said Mark Anderson, chief executive ofcer of FUI. “Our investment in young people and in our local communities ties closely with FUI’s objective of building stronger communities.” Over 30,000 North Dakota stu- dents participated annually in 22 sports and ne arts activities NDH- SAA sponsors. As states continue to lift re- strictions put into place to slow the spread of COVID-19, Montana-Da- kota Utilities reminds homeowners and contractors to always call 811 prior to starting any project that re- quires digging to keep communities safe. Using the free-of-charge es- sential public safety service by call- ing 811 or placing an online request before digging will help residents avoid accidentally damaging buried utility lines. Summer is typically a busy time for digging activity due to the warmer weather. Homeowners and professionals alike should remem- ber to make safety a priority by call- ing 811 prior to starting work that requires digging. For homeowners, some common DIY projects that warrant calling 811 beforehand in- clude installing a mailbox or plant- ing a tree or shrub. Digging without knowing the approximate location of underground utilities can result in serious injuries, service disruptions and costly repairs if gas, electric, communications, water and sewer lines are damaged. “As coronavirus-related restric- tions continue to be lifted, home- owners and professionals may start resuming digging projects they had previously put on hold,” said Mike Schoepp, director operation servic- es for Montana-Dakota. “We want to remind everyone to put safety at the top of their to-do list as the dig into summer, which means always As Stay-At-Home Orders/Restrictions Lift, Montana-Dakota Utilities Reminds Public To Call Before You Dig calling 811 prior to starting work that requires digging. Doing so pre- vents damage to critical infrastruc- ture and serious injuries.” Montana-Dakota encourages homeowners to take the following steps when planning a digging proj- ect this summer: • Always call 811 a few days be- fore digging, regardless of the depth or familiarity with the property. • Plan ahead. Call on Monday or Tuesday for work planned for an up- coming weekend, providing ample time for the approximate location of lines to be marked. • Conrm that all lines have been marked. • Consider moving the location of your project if it is near utility line markings. • If a contractor has been hired, conrm that the contractor has called 811. Don’t allow work to be- gin if the lines aren’t marked. Visit www.call811.com for complete info. Everyone who calls 811 a few days before digging is connected to a local one call notication center that will take the caller’s informa- tion and communicate it to local utility companies. Professional lo- cators will then visit the dig site to mark the approximate location of underground utility lines with spray paint, ags or both. Once a site has been accurately marked, it is safe to begin digging around the marked areas.

Senator John Hoeven last week issued the following statement af-ter the Federal Reserve Board an-nounced that it is further expanding its Main Street Lending Program to benefi t more small and mid-size businesses. The Fed is lowering the minimum loan amounts, while also increasing loan maximums, extend-ing the length of the loan terms and providing a two-year moratorium on principal payments for all loan facil-ities. Interest payments are deferred for one year.

These changes align with Ho-

Benefi t Small & Mid-Size Businesseseven’s efforts to ensure businesses in North Dakota have access to credit and follow an earlier expan-sion to the loan facilities.

“These are welcome changes that will help ensure a wider range of businesses can benefi t from the Main Street Lending Program,” said Hoeven. “Access to credit is an im-portant tool for maintaining these businesses’ operations and will sup-port a stronger recovery as we con-tinue to safely re-open the economy. We want to ensure that our state’s businesses have access to capital.”

The North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) has received notifi cation from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that they have ordered the cancellation of the registrations for Xtendimax, FeXa-pan and Engenia, products used in over-the-top applications on Dicam-ba-tolerant soybeans.

“At the direction of the EPA we have canceled our state registrations of these products, which prohibits any further sale of them,” Agricul-ture Commissioner Doug Goeh-ring said. “However, EPA provides for the use of any product that had already been purchased prior to

Farmers Union Insurance has been NDHSAA’s Premier Partner since 2008. “We’ve proudly spon-sored, supported and celebrated high school students, both on and off the fi eld, for years,” said Mark Anderson, chief executive offi cer of FUI. “Our investment in young people and in our local communities ties closely with FUI’s objective of building stronger communities.”

Over 30,000 North Dakota stu-dents participated annually in 22 sports and fi ne arts activities NDH-SAA sponsors.

As states continue to lift re-strictions put into place to slow the spread of COVID-19, Montana-Da-kota Utilities reminds homeowners and contractors to always call 811 prior to starting any project that re-quires digging to keep communities safe. Using the free-of-charge es-sential public safety service by call-ing 811 or placing an online request before digging will help residents avoid accidentally damaging buried utility lines.

Summer is typically a busy time for digging activity due to the warmer weather. Homeowners and professionals alike should remem-ber to make safety a priority by call-ing 811 prior to starting work that requires digging. For homeowners, some common DIY projects that warrant calling 811 beforehand in-clude installing a mailbox or plant-ing a tree or shrub. Digging without knowing the approximate location of underground utilities can result in serious injuries, service disruptions and costly repairs if gas, electric, communications, water and sewer lines are damaged.

“As coronavirus-related restric-tions continue to be lifted, home-owners and professionals may start resuming digging projects they had previously put on hold,” said Mike Schoepp, director operation servic-es for Montana-Dakota. “We want to remind everyone to put safety at the top of their to-do list as the dig into summer, which means always

Reminds Public To Call Before You Digcalling 811 prior to starting work that requires digging. Doing so pre-vents damage to critical infrastruc-ture and serious injuries.”

Montana-Dakota encourages homeowners to take the following steps when planning a digging proj-ect this summer:

• Always call 811 a few days be-fore digging, regardless of the depth or familiarity with the property.

• Plan ahead. Call on Monday or Tuesday for work planned for an up-coming weekend, providing ample time for the approximate location of lines to be marked.

• Confi rm that all lines have been marked.

• Consider moving the location of your project if it is near utility line markings.

• If a contractor has been hired, confi rm that the contractor has called 811. Don’t allow work to be-gin if the lines aren’t marked.

• Visit www.call811.com for complete info.

Everyone who calls 811 a few days before digging is connected to a local one call notifi cation center that will take the caller’s informa-tion and communicate it to local utility companies. Professional lo-cators will then visit the dig site to mark the approximate location of underground utility lines with spray paint, fl ags or both. Once a site has been accurately marked, it is safe to begin digging around the marked areas.
