Feb. 5, 2012: Scout Sunday- wear your Scout uniform to your place of

worship. The Scout Sunday tradition was started to make people in houses of worship aware of Scouting, and to allow Scouts to live out their "Duty to God" pledged each week. March 3, 2012: Good Will Good Turn: The first Saturday in March was

established as the annual day for the joint service project. Cub Scouts

go door to door collecting clothing and

non-perishables that are given to Goodwill

Industries. They use the process of selling these goods to

provide job training for disabled people. This is the largest

single-day collection of clothing and non-perishable items in the

nation. and This is a chance to teach Scouts about community

service. They will be traveling in pairs, knocking on doors in

their neighborhood, asking for donations of used goods to help people with disabilities.

March 4, 2012: Free Family Day at the Portland Art Museum: Share your

collecting passions with others, compete in a scavenger hunt through the exhibition, make your own collection-worthy piece of art, listen to storyteller Will Hornyak, and enjoy snacks from one of Portland‘s famous food carts. March 25, 2012: Tubing at the Family Snow Days at Winter Lodge near Mt.

Hood: Jan 1, March 24, or March 25; Individual families can sign up for this Scout event. Time: 9am - 4pm. Enjoy a day on a private tubing hill right outside a warm mountain lodge on the slopes of Mount Hood. Bring your family up to a Scout-owned mountain lodge for a day of tubing fun! The lodge is a warm

place to retreat for hot cocoa, lunch or just to warm up after tubing and snow play. Families and friends of Scouts and/or Scouting leaders registered in Cascade Pacific Council, Boy Scouts of America. All ages welcome for this family day activity. March 27, 2012: Pack 320 Pinewood Derby is an event that almost every boy

loves (and ―bigger boys‖ remember from their own youth). They have the chance to build their very own race car (within specific limitations) with adult help.

March 28-29, 2012: FIRST Robotics Competition is an exciting, multinational competition

April-May: Guy Miller Tree Plant - sponsored by the BSA; Provide Cubs and

Scouts with hands-on experience renewing and understanding the importance of our forests. Provide significant impact in Northwest reforestation. Every weekend from December through May, actual plant time is about 2 to 4 hours, plus travel time. One Re-Tree Certificate will be given by the council to each participating unit. One Guy Miller Tree Plant ribbon will be given to each unit that meets the requirement of 10 seedlings planted per Scout plus viewing the video. April 14, 2012: Klineline Kids Fishing Event is presented by the Washington

State Department of Fish and Wildlife and is aimed at getting more kids involved in fishing and building a base for the future stewards of this resource. The event will occur in eight waves between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., each with approximately 200 youths fishing at a time for 45- minute intervals. There is a limit of 1,600 kids this year. Most available spaces for the event are in the 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. time slots. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There is a separate fishing time for children with disabilities. Registration is $5 and includes an event t-shirt and Zebco rod - no personal fishing gear will be allowed. If someone can‘t afford the $5 registration, they can simply place ―scholarship‖ at the top of the application and local donors will sponsor them. Fishers will be able to catch a maximum of two trout, with no catch and release allowed. 360-902-2200

April 21, 2012: Junior Ranger Day at Fort Vancouver: fun and interactive

opportunity for youth to learn more about the fascinating jobs of the National Park

Service employees at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. Young visitors can go from station to station learning more about the many things park staff do at Fort Vancouver and other national parks. Those who visit each station will earn the Junior Ranger Day Patch and become a Junior Ranger! Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience one of the park's newest Youth Volunteer Programs, the Young Engage School. Known as YES by many volunteers, young volunteers are given the unique opportunity to train immersively and learn a variety of skills of the 1840s Oregon Country. The YES program has participants rotating through the Carpenter Shop, Kitchen, Fur Store ,

Indian Trade Shop, and the clerk's office, with demonstrations and information about the history of the park and its resources. COST: Free! Regatta- an event where the boys build a boat from the provided kit, and then have races blowing their boats down the length of a water-filled rain

gutter. This provides the boys with another chance to do something on their own or to work closely with an adult, and the airpower is strictly scout-provided.

May 6, 2012: Hooked on Fishing event at Klineline Pond is an event

sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America and WDFW. It's a recruiting event but it is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6-14. There is no cost and participants are encouraged to bring their own poles - there will be a few loaner poles available. Several hundred nice trout will be stocked for the event. May 19-20, 2012: Dozer Day: Dozer Day is like going to a fair only our rides are real heavy

construction equipment. Kids hop in the driver's seat and actually drive big yellow dozers,

dump trucks and other heavy equipment with a professional operator at their side. Not only

is it a dream come true for kids (and fun for the whole family), the event also benefits many

May 19, 2012: Hazel Dell Parade of Bands, beginning at 10:30a.m, this is the

largest parade in SW Washington and will follow its customary route,

beginning at the Clark County Fire District 6 Station 1 on Hazel Dell Avenue,

proceeding south to NE 63rd Street, up Highway 99, and ending at 78th Street. There will be

floats, horses, classic cars, political campaigns, and lots of bands, from all over Vancouver

and Clark County. Max Muscle Sports Nutrition will hold charity run/walk just prior to the

beginning of the parade, and following the parade route (2.5 miles). This is one of few

courses that you can be cheered on by fans that line the streets from start to finish! This

event is perfect for all ages and includes a collectible finishers medal, participant shirt, and a

goodie bag with discounts to local businesses.

May 26, 2012: Open Cockpit Day at the Pearson Air Museum, 1115 East 5th

Street, Vancouver, 10am-5 pm. This is the one day a year when the ―DO NOT

CLIMB‖ and ―DO NOT TOUCH‖ signs are removed, and visitors will have the

opportunity to climb into the cockpits of several historic aircraft and see the controls from the

pilot‘s perspective. If the weather cooperates, volunteer pilots from EAA‘s Young Eagles

program will offer free airplane rides to youth ages 8 through 17 (with written permission

from parents/guardians). Flights are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis so youth

and parents should arrive early to register children for a free plane ride. Museum admission

applies to this family-friendly event ($7 adults, $5 seniors, active military with ID and

students ages 6-17; children under age 6 are free; $22 family rate for 2 adults and up to 4

June 2, 2012: Fire District 6 Annual Open House - The Fire District 6 Open House

features automobile extrication demonstrations, Clark County Sheriff's

Office K-9 shows, a Life Flight helicopter landing, the fire escape smoke

house (a mobile structure in which we teach children to practice escaping

from their own home as if it were filled with smoke or on fire), free food, low

cost bicycle helmets, fire engines (new and old), and more. It is a

community event you don't want to miss. Parking is available at the

shopping center across the street from the Hazel Dell station and visitors

are expected to surpass 3,000 this year.

June 6- June 10, 2012: Navy Fleet Up-River Cruises: Naval vessels from the United

States Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and the Canadian Maritime Forces arrive from around the

world for a four-day visit to the City of Roses. Ship tours will be available daily, Admission is

FREE; Public tours will be on a first-come basis, usually during these hours: 9:30 a.m. - 3:30

benefits of Scouting is exposing our sons to the Great Outdoors; to put and keep the ‗outing‘ in ‗Scouting‘. One excellent way to achieve this is camping. Cub Scout Day Camp is part of the camping program of the BSA. Our Pack attends a day camp at Camp Lewis in Battle Ground, WA as an experience in outdoor living. Cub Scout Day camp helps individual boys grow, and at the same time helps strengthen the den and pack program. Cub Scouts of any rank may attend this week-long Day Camp and will have opportunities to practice at archery, try to hit targets at the bb gun range and be introduced to leather crafts and lots of fun camp songs and skits!

July 4, 2012: Felida Fourth of July Kids Parade- The parade begins at 11:00 a.m. at the

Felida Park, travels along 36th Avenue for several blocks and returns back to the park for a barbeque and fun field games with prizes. Archaeology Dig at Fort Vancouver, 11a-12p, Children ages 8-12 are introduced to

archaeology by participating in a "mock dig", mapping their artifact finds, and

recording their data. As they excavate and screen with the help of park staff and

volunteers, participants will discuss how we learn from archaeology, and why we

should preserve these pieces of our past. Each two-hour session is limited to 20 children, on

Aug 18, 2012- 1860s Vintage Baseball at Fort Vancouver, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM;

Base ball games were played at Fort Vancouver as early as the 1860s. This

gloveless game is played by 1860s rules. Bring a picnic and root for your favorite

team. The 1st Oregon volunteers will challenge the Vancouver town team. Parade Ground

Aug 25, 2012- Visit Pearson Air Museum for its second Open Cockpit Day of

the season on Saturday, August 27th. Visitors will have the opportunity to sit

inside a T-28 Trojan and Ryan PT-21, as well experience the museum's state-of-

the-art flight simulator lab. Also in attendance will be EAA Chapter 105 from Hillsboro,

Oregon, for a Young Eagles day where young aviators ages 8-17 can experience the thrill of

flight. A special traveling exhibit, the 1928 Boeing 40C, Boeing's oldest passenger plane, will

be on display in Pearson's historic hangar for all to view. In the afternoon the aircraft will

perform take offs and landings from Pearson Field. Walk through both the main and historic

hangar to experience exhibits and vintage aircraft located at the oldest operating airfield in

America. This is one event you will not want to miss.

Sept. 8, 2012- CRESA (Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency) Open House:

View the 9-1-1 dispatch center and emergency operations center. What the police K9 show

and let the kids climb through SWAT Vehicles, Police Cars, Fire Engines and Ambulances.

Meet the first responders, search and rescue groups and volunteers who work together to

ensure the safety of our community. Oh...and there are free hot dogs!

Sept. 14, 2011- First Meeting at Vancouver Main Library

September 15, 2012- "Campfires and Candlelight," Fort Vancouver's

largest annual costumed re-enactment and its

signature community event, 4:00 PM - 10:30 PM. Visitors begin at

Pearson Air Museum, where they walk through the museum's exhibits

and then along the historic Spruce Mill Trail. Here visitors will continue walking back in time,

beginning with a World War II encampment of soldiers, then further back to World War I,

Civil War soldiers, Oregon Trail pioneer families and fur trade encampments of metis

families who worked for the Hudson's Bay Company. Then, having walked back into time,

visitors will enter the Fort gate and be greeted by Hudson's Bay Company employees

throughout the reconstructed fort as they reenact "The Night of the Shark." The Shark was

an American vessel that became shipwrecked in the mouth of the Columbia River and the

Hudson's Bay Company at Fort Vancouver prepared to give aid to the shipwrecked

American sailors. The timeline along the Spruce Mill Trail opens to visitors at 4:30 p.m. The

Fort gate opens at 5 p.m. and closes at 10:30 p.m. There is no admission charged for this

large-scale reenacted event, which is made possible thanks to hundreds of volunteers. For

6230. The entire event is free of charge.

Sept 15, 2012: Sheriff’s Open House, Clark County Safety Complex, 12pm-4pml; the

public will witness the heat and smoke from a real fire as they learn about the importance of

home fire sprinklers. The Clark County Fire Marshal's Office will set fire to a structure with

sprinklers and another without for a side-by-side comparison. Families will

also get an opportunity to practice escaping a smoke-filled home. District

6 firefighters will demonstrate the Jaws of Life on two wrecked vehicles

while K-9's with the Clark County Sheriff's

Office demonstrate how they chase down "suspects." Life flight will also be there to show

guests what medical equipment is on a rescue helicopter. Hot dogs, chips, and a drink will

be provided at no charge. Hundreds of people typically attend this event every year. We

Oct. 1, 2011: Old Apple Tree Festival: 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 1st at Old

Apple Tree Park, 114 Columbia Way. The annual Old Apple Tree Festival is a celebration centered on the oldest living apple tree in the Northwest, planted at Fort Vancouver in 1826. Providing family fun, food and history of Vancouver's Old Apple Tree, the festival celebrates our community's legacy. Throughout the day Urban Forestry Commissioners give away cuttings from the Old Apple Tree. This is a free, family friendly event with activities and games for children, fruit tree pruning workshops, live music and food. Our Scouts will learn their Horseback Riding Belt Loop by practicing mounting and dismounting the rescue horses and ponies as well as riding them in an enclosed pen. Horse Haven also offers a petting zoo, a trackless train, a bouncy house, a horse craft, playground equipment and playhouses, a mini enchanted village and lots more fun things on their 7 acre farm. Nov. 5, 2011- Veteran’s Day Parade: starts with an Air Force fly-over and 21-gun salute fired by Howitzer cannons from the Parade Ground of the Fort Vancouver National Site. Participating bands, military and veteran units, community organizations and dozens of scout troops continue marching along Officers Row, turn south at the traffic circle to follow Fort Vancouver Way through the Vancouver Barracks, then turn east onto Fifth Street to pass in front of the reconstructed Fort Vancouver and end at the Pearson Air Museum. Nov. 26, 2011- Vancouver’s Annual Community Tree Lighting in Esther

Short Park/ Propstra Square. Attendees will be treated to free coffee and

cocoa from Tully's Coffee and entertainment from the Vancouver School

District's Combined High School Choir. Festivities start at 5:30 p.m. and will

feature a visit from Santa, music, and the official illumination of the Community

Tree. Immediately following the illumination,

attendees will be treated to holiday music played on

the park's bell tower by local carillon player, Paul Van

Dyke. The public is invited to attend the Vancouver Pops

Orchestra Concert at the Hilton Vancouver following the tree

lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The concert is free, with a donation

of non-perishable food.

Identification Workshop, Home Depot on Andresen, 6-7:30pm.

Nov 30-Dec 23, 2011: Thornton’s Treeland- A family friendly experience. We

offer free hay rides and an animal petting area. Warm

up in the old barn where you will find hand made

wreaths, crafts and supplies along with free coffee and

cocoa as well as a life sized nativity scene.

Dec. 3, 2011: Walk-n-Knock – door to door food collection

Dec. 9, 10 or 11, 2011: Santa's Posse - work with the

Sheriff's Office to wrap presents for families in need, in Vancouver. About 1-2

hours of present wrapping. Exact time and date to be determined. Volunteers

are needed to help wrap gifts and assemble baskets. You can also make

donations to Santa's Posse in the form of: new, unwrapped toys, non-perishable food,

personal care items, and cash.

Dec. 17, 2011: Pass out fliers in our Tree Pick-Up Neighborhood for the post holiday tree

pick up fundraiser.

Dec. 20, 4:30pm- Caroling at Cascade Inn Assisted Living- Cascade

Inn,11613 NE 7th St., Vancouver, WA 98683, 4:15 -5:15pm; We will carol during the dinner

hour. We have a lady that will play familiar Christmas Songs on the piano so the kids and

residents can sign along. We can have kids pass out candy canes, Xmas ornaments and

cards to the residents. Pizza and drinks provided by the Walsh family.
