About PCLWe are a privately owned company. We serve clients primarily in the Environmental, Utility, Oil & Gas Industry and Construction field. Our services are retained by our clients to mark the location of buried Underground Utilities. PCL makes safety a priority. At PCL we are committed to the clients we serve. Our philosophy is to conduct work in a manner that promotes the safety and the wellbeing of our technicians, clients and the general public.
Not confirming all buried utilities before excavating can lead to negative outcomes including service disruptions, fines, or even death. Protection against potential damage to underground infrastructure during drilling or excavation activities.
Utility damage can lead to accidents and disruptions that can run into millions of dollars.
Why use Utility Locating?
Benefits of using Subsurface Utility Locating Purdue University published a report titled:
Cost Savings on Highway Projects Utilizing Subsurface Utility Engineering
The Purdue researchers studied 71 projects in North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia. The projects involved a mix of interstate, arterial, and collector roads in urban, suburban, and rural settings.
Two broad categories of savings emerged -- quantifiable and qualitative savings. The Purdue study quantified a total of $4.62 in avoided costs for every $1.00 spent on SUE.
The greatest savings came from avoiding utility relocations and reducing delay claims.
Examples of Construction SavingsWhen Utilizing SUE Data
Purdue University 1999 Study $4.62 per dollar saved
North Carolina DOT Project 1999 $206.00 per dollar saved
South Carolina DOT Project 2004 $10.52 per dollar saved
Canadian 2005 Study $3.41 per Canadian dollar saved
