HEALTH 2015

“The Hills Clinic is a beautiful new mental health clinic. It has 59 beds, regarded as probably one of the top mental health hospitals in Sydney. A quality beachhead mental health asset to our company.”

“Most hospitals are designed as hospitals and look like hospitals. They are usually designed by hospital specialist architects and the emphasis is on functionality and compliance. They don’t stand out or provide a point of difference unlike Pace Architects who have provided a hospital which is of high quality in terms of construction, fit-out, space and design.”

Phillipa Blakey CEO & Managing Director Pulse Health

$500 million of developments that we have been jointly accountable for putting back into the Australian economy.

We create smart, long term accommodation solutions, whilst delivering income and capital returns for our clients and their investors. We deliver results. It is our objective to design and plan efficient profitable and sustainable developments. Our proven track record is a result of many years of in-house experience

coupled with strong consulting and project management skills.

With our proven record of efficient designs, professional project management and extensive construction buildability knowledge, Pace Architects have been able to deliver projects at a fraction of the cost to other projects of similar scale within the healthcare sector.

We are responsive, nimble and agile with a style that is personal and direct. We understand each and every business is different by way of business processes, financial processes and systems, business drivers, products and services. Our services are tailored to meet your specific needs and we consider ourselves as an extension of your own development team. We have the design development and project management expertise and services found in larger consultancies, with a stronger focus on client relationships and deliverables.

Pace Architects continually strives to remain the premier provider of design excellence and innovation in design; whilst producing predictable earnings for our clients and building a dynamic, educative, challenging environment for our employees. We build long-term client relationships on mutual trust, respect and collaboration.

“When you go there and you see the design, the use of modern construction and the use of gardens, the return of gardening and the use of plants in the treatment of mental illness is quite well documented, you really get a sense from this building and this place that this purpose-built facility is going to achieve its purpose. Buildings have purpose. They have form. They have a reason for being designed the way they are. That is no different with a mental health facility. So of course, if we have guidelines in this country today that restrict or impede the development of such facilities, we ought to look at them.”

Alex Hawke MP. Parliamentary address Thursday 2nd June 2011

Our extensive range of integrated services enables us to achieve sustainable incomes and growing value for all of our clients, and to delivering high quality outcomes for all of our stakeholders.

We offer best practice and state-of-the-art methodology for the design and rapid procurement of health projects. Team members are trained in the latest BIM software with our senior technicians having over 10 years experience working on this platform.

The implementation of BIM technology is a benefit to our clients as it applies to all aspects of the construction of a building, from the design, the estimating, the supply chain, the delivery of goods during the build, the build process, the resource allocation, the productivity requirements to meet targets and on to the post-handover phase through facilities and asset management.

Recent industry reports show that BIM technology has:

» 20% reduction in build costs » 33% reduction in costs over the

lifetime of the building » 47% - 65% reduction in conflicts and

re-work during construction » 44% - 59% increase in the overall

project quality » 35% - 43% reduction in risk, better

predictability of outcomes » 34% - 40% better performing

completed infrastructure » 32% - 38% improvement in review and

approval cycles

Our service in BIM delivery on all our projects has improved the accuracy and speed in documentation, whilst also created an integrated cross co-ordination efficiency between consultant disciplines. It enables quick 3D output visualization and construction efficiency during procurement all of which is added value to our client return on investments.

Technological knowledge paired with smart design and harnessed project management rigor, has enabled Pace Architects have been able to substantially reduce construction cost for our clients. Evidence shows up to 50% in most cases when comparing our projects to similar sized healthcare projects. The Hills Clinic hospital is an example of this.

“Pace Architects have assisted in the design and documentation of our Healthcare facility project in the The Hills Shire Council area of metropolitan Sydney. The team at Pace Architects have been involved from the early concept stage and successfully negotiated the development approval process. At all stages the team has provided creative yet practical advice. They worked within our tight budgets and responded to all the issues that arose in a timely manner.”

Dr.Ted Cassidy Director/Owner The Hills Clinic

“The Australian population continues to grow at a speed that puts the healthcare system at risk of running short of healthcare facilities to accommodate all the people who need them. The healthcare system is responding through a number of solutions, such as telehealth, new technology, and home care. However the reality is, Australia will need to build more health facilities across all states in the coming months and years.”

Australian Healthcare week 2015

We create secure, accessible, non-confrontational and comfortable therapeutic environments for the benefit of patients, their families, staff and visitors. We embed the proven principles of evidence based design to provide a physical framework for the safe delivery of patient focused care.

The project management style that we have adopted is one that considers staff interaction, workflow, management efficiencies, supervision, security and the ongoing building life cycle is managed by the reduction to recurrent operational costs via the integration of proven ESD features.

The Hills Clinic Kellyville, is the first purpose built private psychiatric hospital in NSW. It has set a new benchmark in Mental Health facilities.

Pace Architects was involved in the early stages of this development and also provided services pre land acquisition, to ensure the clients the land purchase would suit their fit to purpose facility.

In developing the concept for this facility, Pace Architects retained a connection with the rural heritage of the area, allowing a large portion of the two acres of land to be landscaped and left as open space for the amenity of patients. Every room in the building connects to the natural surrounds. The North facing aspect and large areas of glazing allows vast amounts of natural light that creates a pleasant indoor environment for patients and staff.

The Hills Clinic Stage 1 project was awarded Best Commercial / Public Development in 2011 in The Hills Building and Design Awards – Awarded by The Hills Shire, one of the largest Shires currently in NSW.
