We Need You!1. We need PAC and

parental support, involvement, and partnership in the amazing work we are going to do this year at Canyon Falls

2. We need to involve MORE parents/guardians in learning sessions, visits, PAC, etc. How can we, together, mobilize and empower our community?

Update #1:× There will be no WE Day happening this Fall

× November 19, 2019× Quote from Dr. Oliver: “We have again decided

not to send the large district group to We Day this year out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students and staff.”

Update #2× Proposed school calendar (2019-2020)× Most dates are district wide, re: the previous

district feedback process× Are looking for feedback on our school

calendar from you (please email)× On website and here as a handout

Update #3:× Hockey Enrichment class information× Have been working with Kurt and Dan (OKM) re:

Hockey Canada Skills Academy options× Need to consult and seek approval from the

PAC, and then the School Board

× Need to make a decision asap (consulting with parents, students, and staff) in order to order uniforms, create letterhead, order student and staff clothing, etc.

× We know we cannot make everyone happy× We have to follow OVSAA policy around school sports

Update #4 (cont):× Ryan and I worked within the guidelines, and

consulted with some students and new staff, to come up with some great existing colour combination options (already used by sports teams), and are looking for the PAC #1, #2, and #3 choices (in that order)

× Need to be approved by OVSAA in early June

× Currently in the midst of staffing, and it’s going well× Will be planning additional meetings with

teachers, Ryan and myself to unpack and learn about pedagogy and design with families

× Hoping to start early June (stay tuned)

× Mixed experience on paper-based planners× Pros: One method of home/school communication× Cons: Expensive, other methods are more authentic,

frequent, and accessible× Partner talk and show of hands
