PSLE T-SCORE
A Garden where Scholars Bloom
PSLE T-SCORE IS USED INSTEAD OF
RAW SCORE BECAUSE:
• Different subjects have different levels of
difficulty
• So are the spread of marks from the
average mark, i.e. the Standard Deviation
A Garden where Scholars Bloom
PSLE T-SCORE
•It gives the relative position of a pupil’s
performance as compared to the performance
of all the other pupils in that subject.
•The raw mark obtained in the exam only
shows how good the pupil is in that subject for
that particular paper, not how good he is as
compared to others.
A Garden where Scholars Bloom
RAW MARKS vs PSLE T-SCORE
FORMULA
X - M
50 + --------- x 10
SD
X - Marks scored by the pupil (Raw Marks)
M - Mean Mark scored by ALL pupils in that year cohort
SD - Standard Deviation (spread of marks around the average)

ALL SUBJECTS: English, Mathematics, Science

Our 2015 pupils have done better in all
subjects in comparison with our 2014
pupils.
Our hope is that our 2016 pupils will do
even better than our 2015 pupils in all
subjects.
A Garden where Scholars Bloom
ERRATIC PERFORMANCE
1 Lack of emotional support
2 Plateau – those who have relaxed
3 Lack home monitoring
4 Lack enthusiasm, push
• Generally, those who have
improved are those who are serious
and consistent in their effort,
motivated by self or others.
A Garden where Scholars Bloom
OUR CONCERNS
1 Some are still taking it easy - not
serious about their work
2 Pupils not completing work given
by teachers
3 Need parents’ help to supervise at
home
