Amazing Grace by John Newton

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a soul like me.

I once was lost but now I'm found, was blind but now I see.

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved.

How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.

The Lord has promised good to me, his word my hope secures.

He will my shield and portion be, as long as life endures.

Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come.

Tis grace has brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home.

When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun,

We've no less days to sing God's praise, than when we first begun.

How Great Thou Art by Stuart K. Hine

1. O Lord, my God! When I in awesome wonder

consider all the world thy hands have made.

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy pow'r throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee:

how great thou art, how great thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee:

how great thou art, how great thou art.

2. When through the woods and forest glades I wander

and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;

When I look down from loftly mountain grandeur

and hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze.

3. And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,

sent him to die, I scarce can take it in;

That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,

He bled and died to take away my sin.

4. When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation

and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!

Then I shall bow in humble adoration

and there proclaim, my God, how great thou art!

3

Be Not Afraid by Bob Dufford, SJ

1. You shall cross the barren desert, but you shall not die of thirst.

You shall wander far in safety though you do not know the way.

You shall speak your words to foreign lands and all will understand.

You shall see the face of God and live.

Refrain: Be not afraid. I go before you always.

Come follow Me and I will give you rest.

2. If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown.

If you walk amid the burning flames, you shall not be harmed.

If you stand before the pow'r of hell and death is at your side,

know that I am with you through it all.

3. Blessed are your poor, for the Kingdom shall be theirs.

Blest are you that weep and mourn, for one day you shall laugh.

And if wicked men insult and hate you

all because of me, Blessed, blessed are you!

On Eagle's Wings by Michael Joncas

1. You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,

who abide in His shadow for life,

say to the Lord: "My refuge, my Rock in whom I trust!"

REFRAIN:

And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,

bear you on the breath of dawn,

make you to shine like the sun,

and hold you in the palm of His hand.

2. The snare of the fowler will never capture you,

and famine will bring you no fear:

under His wings your refuge, His faithfulness your shield.

3. You need not fear the terror of the night,

nor the arrow that flies by day;

though thousands fall about you, near you it shall not come.

4. For to His angels He's given a command

to guard you in all of your ways;

upon their hands they will bear you up,

lest you dash your foot against a stone.

PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS by Sebastian Temple

Make me a channel of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me bring your love.

Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord.

And where there's doubt, true faith in you.

Make me a channel of your peace.

Where there's despair in life, let me bring hope.

Where there is darkness, only light.

And where there's sadness, ever joy.

O Master, grant that I may never seek

So much to be consoled as to console.

To be understood as to understand.

To be loved, as to love, with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace.

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

In giving of ourselves that we receive,

And in dying that we're born to eternal life.

Let There Be Peace On Earth by Jill Jackson

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.

With God as our Father, fam’ly all are we.

Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now.

With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow:

to take each moment and live each moment

in peace eternally.

Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.

Here I Am, Lord by Dan Schutte

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry.

All who dwell in dark and sin My hand will save.

I who make the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright.

Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send?

REFRAIN:

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night.

I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart.

2. I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne My people's pain.

I have wept for love of them. They turn away.

I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone.

I will speak My word to them. Whom shall I send?

3. I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame.

I will set a feast for them. My hand will save.

Finest bread I will provide till their hearts be satisfied.

I will give My life to them. Whom shall I send?

I Am the Bread of Life by Suzanne Toolan, SM

1. I am the Bread of life. You who come to me shall not hunger;

and who believe in me shall not thirst

No one can come to me unless the Father beckcons.

REFRAIN:

And I will raise you up, and I will raise you up,

and I will raise you up on the last day.

2. The Bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world,

and if you eat of this bread,

you shall live forever, you shall live forever.

3. Unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man,

and drink of his blood,

and drink of his blood , you shall not have life within you.

4. I am the Resurrection, I am the life.

If you believe in me,

even though you die, you shall live forever.

6

EYE HAS NOT SEEN by Marty Haugen

Refrain: Eye has not seen, ear has not heard

what God has ready for those who love him;

Spirit of love, come, give us the mind of Jesus,

teach us the wisdom of God.

1. When pain and sorrow weigh us down, be near to us, O Lord, forgive the weakness of our faith,

and bear us up within your peaceful word.

2. Our lives are but a single breath, we flower and we fade, yet all our days are in your hands, so we return

in love what love has made.

3. To those who see with eyes of faith, the Lord is ever near, reflected in the faces of all the poor and lowly of the world.

For All the Saints by William W. How

For all the saints, who from their labors rest,

All who by faith before the world confessed,

Your Name, O Jesus, be forever blest.

Alleluia, alleluia!

You were their rock, their fortress and their might:

You, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight;

Youin the darkness drear, the one true light.

Alleluia, alleluia!

O may your soldiers, faithful, true, and bold,

Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,

And win with them, the victor's crown of gold.

Alleluia, alleluia!

Now Thank We All Our God by Martin Rinkart

1. Now thank we all our God with hearts and hands and voices,

Who wondrous things hath done, In whom His world rejoices.

Who from our mother's arms, Hath blessed us on our way

With countless gifts of love, And still is ours today.

2. Oh may this bounteous God through all our life be near us,

With ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us;

And keep us in His grace, And guide us when perplexed,

And free us from all ills in this world and the next.

3. All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given,

The Son and Him who reigns with them in highest heaven,

The one eternal God, Whom earth and heaven adore;

For thus it was now is, And shall be ever more.

HOLY GOD, WE PRAISE THY NAME by Ignaz Franz

Holy God, we praise thy Name; Lord of all, we bow before thee!

All on earth thy sceptre claim, all in heav'n above adore thee;

Infinite thy vast domain, Everlasting is thy reign;

Infinite thy vast domain, Everlasting is thy reign.

Hark! the loud celestial hymn Angel choirs, above are raising,

Cherubim and seraphim, In unceasing chorus praising;

Fill the heav'ns with sweet accord: Holy, holy, holy Lord.

Fill the heav'ns with sweet accord: Holy, holy, holy Lord.

Holy Father, Holy Son, Holy Spirit, Three we name thee;

While in essence only One, Undivided God we claim thee;

And adoring bend the knee, While we own the mystery;

And adoring bend the knee, While we own the mystery.

THE OLD RUGGED CROSS

Verse:

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,

The emblem of suff'ring and shame,

And I love that old cross where the dearest and best

For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Chorus:

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross

Till my trophies at last I lay down.

I will cling to the old rugged cross

And exchange it some day for a crown.

8

YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE

When you walk through a storm,

hold your head up high

And don't be afraid of the dark,

At the end of the storm is a golden sky

And the sweet silver song of a lark.

Walk on through the wind,

Walk on through the rain,

Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown,

Walk on, Walk on, with hope in your heart,

And you'll never walk alone,

You'll never walk alone.

O LORD, I AM NOT WORTHY

1. O Lord, I am not worthy That thou should'st come to me;

But speak the word of comfort, My spirit healed shall be.

2. And humbly I'll receive thee, The bridegroom of my soul,

No more by sin to grieve thee Or fly thy sweet control.

3. Eternal Holy Spirit, Unworthy though I be,

Prepare me to receive him And trust the Word to me.

4. Increase my faith, dear Jesus, In thy real presence here,

And make me feel most deeply That thou to me art near.

5. O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament divine,

All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment thine.

Crown Him with Many Crowns by Matthew Bridges

Crown Him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne;

Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns All music but its own!

Awake, my soul, and sing Of Him who set us free;

And hail Him as your heav’nly King Through all eternity.

Crown Him the Lord of life; Who triumphed o'er the grave,

And rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save;

His glories now we sing, Who died and rose on high,

Who died, eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.

Crown Him the Lord of love; Behold His hands and side,

Rich wounds, yet visible above, In beauty glorified;

No angel in the sky Can fully bear that sight,

But downward bends his burning eye At mysteries so bright.

9

ALL CREATURES OF OUR GOD AND KING

All creatures of our God and king,

Lift up your voice, and with us sing:

Alleluia, alleluia;

O burning sun with golden beam,

And silver moon with softer gleam:

Alleluia, Alleluia,

Alleluia, alleluia alleluia.

O rushing wind and breezes soft,,

O clouds that ride the winds aloft:

O praise him, alleluia:

O rising morn, in praise rejoice,

O lights of evening, find a voice.

Allleluia, alleluia,

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Let all things their creator bless,

And worship God in humbleness,

Alleluia, alleluia;

Oh praise the Father, praise the Son,

And praise the Spirit, three in one:

Alleluia, alleluia,

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

PEACE IS FLOWING LIKE A RIVER

Peace is flowing like a river,

flowing out of you and me.

Flowing out into the desert,

setting all the captives free.

His love is flowing like a river,

flowing out of you and me.

Flowing out into the desert,

setting all the captives free.

His healing's flowing like a river,

flowing out of you and me.

Flowing out into the desert,

setting all the captives free.

4. Alleluia.... 5. His peace...

ONLY THIS I WANT by Dan Schutte

Refrain:

Only this I want: but to know the Lord,

and to bear His cross

so to wear the crown He wore.

1. All but this is loss, worthless refuse to me,

for to gain the Lord is to gain all I need.

2. I will run the race; I will fight the good fight,

so to win the prize of the Kingdom of my Lord.

3. Let your heart be glad, always glad in the Lord,

so to shine like stars in the darkness of the night.

ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

1. Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war,

With the cross of Jesus Going on before:

Christ the royal master Leads against the foe;

Forward into battle, See, his banners go.

Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war,

With the cross of Jesus Going on before.

2. Like a mighty army Moves the church of God;

Brothers, we are treading Where the saints have trod;

We are not divided, All one body we,

We have Christ's own promise, And that cannot fail.

3. Onward, then, you people, Join our happy throng,

Blend with ours your voices In the triumph song;

Glory, laud, and honor Unto Christ the King;

This through countless ages Men and angels sing.

MORNING HAS BROKEN by Eleanor Farjeon

1. Morning has broken like the first morning,

Blackbird has spoken like the first bird.

Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning!

Praise for them springing fresh from the Word!

2. Sweet the new rain's fall sunlit from heaven,

like the first dewfall on the first grass.

Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,

Sprung in completeness where His feet pass.

3. Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning

Born of the one light Eden saw play!

Praise with elation, Praise every morning,

God's recreation of the new day!

11

ABBA FATHER by Carey Landry

Refrain: Abba, Abba, Father.

You are the potter;

we are the clay,

the work of your hands.

1. Mold us, mold us and fashion us

into the image of Jesus, your Son,

of Jesus, your Son.

2. Father, may we be one in You

May we be one in You

as He is in You, and You are in Him.

3. Glory, glory and praise to You.

Glory and praise to You, forever Amen,

for ever, amen.

THE STRIFE IS O'ER

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

1. The strife is o'er, the battle done;

Now is the victor's triumph won;

O let the song of praise be sung; Alleluia!

2. On the third morn he rose again,

glorious in majesty to reign;

O let us swell the joyful strain: Alleluia!

3. Eternal life is won by him

who died and rose to cleanse our sin,

And now to all belongs again! Alleluia!

12

SONGS OF THE ANGELS

REFRAIN:

May songs of the angels welcome you

and guide you along your way.

May the smiles of the martyrs greet you own

as darkness turns into day.

Ev'ry fear will be undone and death will be no more,

as songs of the angels bring you home before the face of God.

1. From the depths I cry to You, O Lord.

Hear the sound of my pleading,

for my soul longs for You,

O Lord, like the watchman longs for day.

2. I know that my Redeemer lives

and He shall stand, shall stand upon the earth.

And I shall see, and I shall see.

3. Behold, I tell you a myst'ry.

We shall all be changed,

for the trumpet shall sound, the dead be raised

in the vict'ry, the glory of our God.

SING OF MARY by Roland Palmer

Sing of Mary, pure and lowly,

Virgin mother undefiled,

Sing of God's own Son most holy,

Who became her little child.

Fairest child of fairest mother,

God the Lord who came to earth,

Word made flesh, our very brother,

Takes our nature by his birth.

Sing to Jesus, son of Mary,

In the home at Nazareth.

Toil and labor cannot weary

Love enduring unto death.

Constant was the love he gave her,

Though he went forth from her side,

Forth to preach, and heal, and suffer,

Till on Calvary he died.

Glory be to God the Father;

Glory be to God the Son;

Glory be to God the Spirit;

Glory to the Three in One.

From the heart of blessed Mary,

From all saints the song ascends,

And the church the strain re-echoes

Unto earth's remotest ends.

13

CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN

Climb every mountain, Search high and low,

Follow every by-way, every path you know.

Climb every mountain, Ford every stream,

Follow every rainbow, till you find your dream.

A dream that will need all the love you can give,

Every day of your life for as long as you live.

Climb every mountain, ford every stream

Follow every rainbow, till you find your dream.

Battle Hymn Of The Republic

1. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;

He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;

He hath loosed the fateful lightning of his terrible swift sword:

His truth is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!

His truth is marching on.

2. I have seen him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps;

They have builded him an altar in the evening dews and damps;

I can read his righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps;

His day is marching on.

3. In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,

With a glory in his bosom that transfigures you and me;

As he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free!

While God is marching on.

14

HOSEA by Gregory Norbet

Come back to Me with all your heart.

Don't let fear keep us apart.

Trees do bend, 'though straight and tall;

so must we to others's call.

REFRAIN:

Long have I waited for your coming

home to Me and living deeply our new life.

The wilderness will lead you

to your heart where I will speak.

Integrity and justice,

with tenderness you shall know. REFRAIN.

You shall sleep secure with peace;

faithfulness will be your joy. REFRAIN.

EDELWEISS

Edelweiss, Edelweiss,

Ev`ry morning you greet me.

Small and white,

Clean and bright,

You look happy to meet me.

Blossom of snow, may you bloom and grow,

Bloom and grow forever.

Edelweiss, Edelweiss,

Bless my homeland forever.

(Repeat)

WHATSOEVER YOU DO by Williard Jabusch

Refrain: Whatsoever you do to the least of my people,

that you do unto to me.

1. When I was hungry, you gave me to eat;

When I was thirsty, you gave me to drink.

Now enter into the home of my Father.

2. When I was homeless, you opened your door;

When I was naked, you gave me your coat.

Now enter into the home of my Father.

3. When I was weary, you helped me find rest;

When I was anxious, you calmed all my fears.

Now enter into the home of my Father.

4. When in a prison, you came to my cell;

When on a sickbed, you cared for my needs.

Now enter into the home of my Father.

15

Sing With All the Saints in Glory

Sing with all the saints in glory, Sing the resurrection song!

Death and sorrow, earth’s dark story, To the former days belong.

All around the clouds are breaking. Soon the storms of time shall cease;

In God’s likeness, we awaken, Knowing everlasting peace.

O what glory, far exceeding All that eye has yet perceived!

Holiest hearts for ages pleading, Never that full joy conceived.

God has promised, Christ prepares it, There on high our welcome waits;

Ev’ry humble spirit shares it, Christ has passed the eternal gates

Life eternal! heav’n rejoices; Jesus lives who once was dead;

Shout with joy, O deathless voices! Child of God, lift up your head!

Patriarchs from distant ages, Saints all longing for their heav’n,

Prophets, psalmists, seers, and sages, All await the glory giv’n.

Life eternal! O what wonders Crowd on faith, what joy unknown,

When, amid earth’s closing thunders, Saints shall stand before the throne.

O to enter that bright portal, See that glowing firmament,

Know, with you O God immortal, Jesus Christ whom you have sent!

SING OF CHRIST, PROCLAIM HIS GLORY

Sing of Christ, proclaim his glory, Sing the resurrection song!

Death and sorrow, earth’s dark story, To the former days belong.

All around the clouds are breaking. Soon the storms of time shall cease;

In God’s likeness, people waking, Know the everlasting peace.

O what glory, far exceeding All that eye has yet perceived!

Holiest hearts for ages pleading, Never that full joy conceived.

God has promised, Christ prepares it, There on high our welcome waits;

Ev’ry humble spirit shares it, Christ has passed th’eternal gates

Life eternal! heav’n rejoices; Jesus lives who once was dead;

Join with all the heav’nly voices; Child of God, lift up your head!

Patriarchs from the distant ages, Saints all longing for their heav’n,

Prophets, psalmists, seers, and sages, All await the glory giv’n.

Life eternal! O what wonders Crowd on faith, what joy unknown,

When, amid earth’s closing thunders, Saints shall stand before the throne.

O to enter that bright portal, See that glowing firmament,

Know, with you O God immortal, Jesus Christ whom you have sent!

16

SAINTS OF GOD

Saints of God, come to her aid;

Come to greet her, angels of the Lord.

Refrain: Receive her soul, and present her to God,

present her soul to God most high.

May Christ who called you, take you home;

may angels lead you to our parent’s side.

Give eternal rest, O Lord;

and may your light shine on her forever.

Panis Angelicus

Panis angelicus fit panis hominun;

Dat panis coelicus figuris terminum:

O res mirablis! Manducat Dominum

Pauper, servus, et humilis.

Te trina Deitas unaque poscimus,

Sic nos tu visita, sicut te colimus;

Per tuas semitas duc nos quo tendimus,

Ad lucem quam in habitas. Amen.

YOU ARE NEAR by David Haas

Yahweh, I know You are near, standing always at my side.

1. Lord, you have searched my heart,

and You know when I sit and when I stand.

Your hand is upon lme protecting me from death,

keeping me from harm.

2. Where can I run from Your love?

If I climb to the heavens you are there;

if I fly to the sunrise or sail beyond the sea,

still I’d find You there.

3. You know my heart and its ways,

You who formed me before I was born

in the secret of drkness before I saw the sun

in my mother’s womb.

4. Marvelous to me are Your works;

how profound are Your thoughts, my Lord.

Even if I could count them, they number as the stars,

You would still be there.

18

LORD OF ALL HOPEFULNESS by Jan Struther

1. Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy,

Whose trust, ever childlike, no cares can destroy.

Be there at our waking, and give us, we pray,

Your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day.

2. Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith,

Whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe

Be there at our labours, and give us, we pray,

Your strength in our hearts, Lord, at the noon of the day.

3. Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all faith,

Your hands swift to welcome, your arms to embrace,

Be there at our homing, and give us, we pray,

Your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day.

4. Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm,

Whose voice is contentment, whose presence is balm,

Be there at our sleeping, and give us, we pray,

Your peace in our hearts, Lord, at the end of the day.

SING A NEW SONG by Dan Schutte

Refrain:

Sing a new song unto the Lord;

Let your song be sung on mountains high.

Sing a new song unto the Lord, Singing alleluia!

1. Yahweh’s people dance for joy.

O come before the Lord.

And play for Him on glad tambourines,

and let your trumpet sound.

2. Rise, O children, from your sleep;

your Savior now has come.

He has turned your sorrow to joy,

and filled your soul with song.

3. Glad my soul for I have seen

the glory of the Lord.

The trumpet sounds; the dead shall be raised,

I know my Savior lives.

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Hark! The herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King;

Peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!”

Joyful, all ye nations, rise, Join the triumph of the skies;

With th’angelic host proclaim, “Christ is born in Bethlehem!”

Hark! The herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King!”

Christ, by highest heav’n adored, Christ, the everlasting Lord!

Late in time behold him come, Offspring of the Virgin’s womb.

Veiled in flesh the Godhead see; Hail th’incarnate Deity,

Pleased as man with us to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel.

Hark! The herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King.”

GATHER US IN by Marty Haugen

1. Here in this place new light is streaming,

Now is the darkness vanished away,

See in this space our fears and our dreamings,

Brought here to you in the light of this day.

Gather us in - the lost and forsaken,

Gather us in - the blind and the lame;

Call to lus now, and we shall awaken,

We shall arise at the sound of our name.

2. We are the young our lives are a myst’ry,

We are the old - who yearn for your face,

We have been sung throughout all of hist’ry,

Called to be light to the whole human race.

Gather us in - the rich and the haughty,

Gather us in the proud and the strong;

Give us a heart so meek and so lowly,

Give us the courage to enter the song.

ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! LET THE HOLY ANTHEM RISE

1. Alleluia! Allelluia! Let the holy anthem rise,

And the choirs of heaven chant it

In the temple of the skies;

Let the mountains skip with gladness

And the joyful valleys ring

With hosannas in the highest

To our Savior and our King!

2. Alleluia! Alleluia! Like the sun from out the wave

He has risen up in triumph

From the darkness of the grave.

He’s the splendor of the nations;

He’s the lamp of endless day;

He’s the very Lord of glory Who is risen up today!

3. Alleluia! Alleluia! He has burst our prison bars;

He has lifted up the portals

Of our home beyond the stars.

He has won for us our freedom

‘Neath his feet our foes are trod;

He has purchased back our birthright

To the kingdom of our God!

O DANNY BOY

O Danny Boy the pipes the pipes are calling

from glen to glen and down the mountainside

The Summer's gone and all the roses dying

'tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.

Chorus:

But come ye back when Summer's in the meadow,

or when the valley's hushed and white with snow.

"Tis I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow

Oh Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy I love you so.

And when ye come and all the flowers are dying

If I am dead, as dead I well may be

You'll come and find the place where I am lying

And kneel and say an Ave there for me.

And I shall hear tho' soft you tread above me

And all my grave will warmer sweeter be

If you will bend and tell me that you love me

Then I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.

Lift High the Cross by George W. Kitchin

Refrain:

Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim

till all the world adore his sacred name.

1. Come, Christians, follow where the Master trod,

our King victorious, Christ the Son of God.

2. Led on their way by this triumphant sign,

the hosts of God in conquering ranks combine.

3. Each new born foll’wer of the Crucified

bears on the brow the seal of him who died.

4. O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree,

your death has brought us life eternally.

5. So shall our song of triumph ever be:

praise to the Crucified for victory!

BECAUSE YOU LOVE ME

Words and Music by Diane Warren

1. For all those times you stood by me, for all the truth you made me see,

for all the joy you brought to my life, for all the wrong that you made

right, for every dream you made come true, for all the love I found in

you, I’ll be forever thankful, mother. You’re the one who held me up,

never let me fall. You’re the one who saw me through, through it all.

Refrain: You were my strength when I was weak, you were my voice

when I couldn’t speak. You were my eyes when I couldn’t see,

you saw the best there was in me, lifted me up when I couldn’t reach.

You gave me faith ‘coz you believed. I’m everything I am because you

loved me.

2. You gave me wings and made me fly, you touched my hand, I could

touch the sky. I lost my faith you gave it back to me.

You said no star was out of reach, you stood by me and I stood tall.

I had your love, I had it all. I’m grateful for each day you gave me.

Maybe I don’t know that much, but I know this much is true.

I was blessed because I was loved by you. Refrain.

3. You were always there for me, the tender wind that carried me.

A light in the dark, shining your love into my life.

You’ve been my inspiration, through the lies, you were the truth.

My world is a better place because of you.

Little Heart of Ages by Michael Dennis Browne

Little heart of ages, spirit child

Heavenly our dreamer, here you lie;

Night is all about you, Petal now eternal;

Little heart of ages, spirit child.

Ev’ry lamb is yours, Lord, ev’ry one.

Leaping out of time now, to the sun;

Never was a soul born that was not a treasure;

Ev’ry lamb is yours, Lord, ev’ry one.

Welcome to the children on their way,

Blessings to all pilgrims on this day;

Glory to the light that leads us to the kingdom;

Welcome to the children on their way.

"God Bless America"

God bless America, land that I love

Stand beside her and guide her

Through the night with the light from above

From the mountains to the prairies, to the ocean white with foam --

God bless America, my home sweet home

(Repeat)

Words and Music by Irving Berlin

As recorded by Kate Smith (1939)

America the Beautiful Katherine I. Bates

O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plane!

America, America! God shed his grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.

O beautiful for pilgrim feet, Whose ster, impassioned stress

A thoroughfare for freedom beat Across the wilderness!

America! America! God mend thine ev’ry flaw,

Confirm thy soul in self control, Thy liberty in law.

Alleluia! Sing to Jesus

1.Alleluia! Sing to Jesus! His the scepter, his the throne;

Alleluia! His the triumph, His the victory alone;

Hark! The songs of peaceful Zion Thunder like a mighty flood;

Jesus out of ev’ry nation Has redeemed us by his blood.

2.Alleluia! Not as orphans Are we left in sorrow now;

Alleluia! He is near us, Faith felieves, nor questions how;

Though the cloud from sight received him, When the forty days were o’er,

Shall our hearts forget his promise, “I am with you evermore”?

3.Alleluia! Bread of Angels, Here on earth our food, our stay!

Alleluia! Here the sinful Flee to you from day to day;

Intercessor, friend of sinners, Earth’s redeemer, plead for me,

Where the songs of all the sinless Sweep across the crystal sea.

Use these words instead of the words in the Gather book (#607)

these are from “Glory and Praise” p. 15 same melody as in gather book but nicer sounding words.

A MIGHTY FORTRESS IS OUR GOD

A mighty fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing;

Our helper He amid the flood Of mortal ills prevailing.

For stillour ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe;

His cdraft and power are great, And, armed with cruel hate,

On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing,

Were not the right one on our side, The one of God’s own choosing.

Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He

Lord Sabaoth his name, From age to age the same,

And He must win the battle.

And word above all earthly powers, No thanks to them, abideth;

The Spirity and the gifrts are ours Through Him who with us sideth.

Lest goods and kindred go, This mortal life also;

The body they may kill: Gos’s truth abideth still,

His Kingdom is forever.

Not in the program.

And though this world with devils filled, Should threaten to undo us,

We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us.

The Prince of Darkness grim We tremble not for him;

His rage we can endure, For lo, his doom is sure,

One little word shall fell him.

HAIL, HOLY QUEEN ENTHRONED ABOVE

Hail, holy Queen enthroned above, O Maria.

Hail, Queen of mercy and of love, O Maria.

Triumph, all ye Cherubim,

Sing with us, ye Seraphim.

Heav’n and earth resound the hymn:

Salve, Salve, Salve, Regina.

The cause of joy to all below, O Maria.

The spring through which all graces flow, O Maria.

Angels, all your praises bring,

Earth and heaven, with us sing.

All creation echoing:

Salve, Salve, Salve Regina.

O gentle, loving, holy one, O Maria.

The God of light became your Son, O Maria.

Triumph, all ye Cherubim,

Sing with us, ye Seraphim.

Heav’n and earth resound the hymn:

Salve, Salve, Salve, Regina.

PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW

Praise God, from who all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Joined with the praise of heavenly host;

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Eternal are your mercies, Lord,

Eternal truth attend your word;

Your praise shall sound from shore to shore,

Til suns shall rise and set no more.

From all that dwell below the skies,

Let their creator’s praise arise;

Let the Redeemers’s name be sung

Through every land, by every tongue.

“MORNING SONG” inspired by psalm 142

vocal & guitar, Kathleen Deignan, CND keyboards, Paul Avgerinos

from the CD “Visitation” , Songs of the

Congregation of Notre Dame

Refrain:

In the morning let me know your love.

I give my life into your hands.

And let me know the way that I

should walk with you.

I lift my soul to you, I give it to your care.

Verse 1

O turn and listen to my prayer.

Give your heart to my appeal.

You are the faithful God, the just,

the merciful.

My spirit stands before your face.

Verse 2

I remember all your works of love.

And delight in what your hands have

done.

Like a parched land, my soul is

thirsting for your face.

I reach out my hands and call your name.

Verse 3

O let me always do your will,

for you alone are my delight.

Along the sacred way, the path

That’s straight and true,

Let your Holy Spirit be my guide.

Don’t Cry For Me

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cryk.

I am not there I did not die.

City of God

Awake from your slumber! Arise fromyour sleep!

A new day is dawning for all those who weep.

The people in darkness have seen a great light.

The Lord of our Longing has conquered the night.

Refrain: Let us build a city of God.

May our tears be turned into dancing!

For the Lord, our light and our love,

has turned the night into day!

We are sons of the morning; we are daughters of day.

The One who has loved us has brightened our way.

The Lord of all kindness has called us to be

A light for his people to set their hearts free.

Glory and Praise to our God #522

Refrain: Glory and praise to our God,

who alone gives light to our days.

Many are the blessings he bears

to those who trust in his ways.

We, the daughters and sons of him

who built the valleys and plains,

Praise the wonders our God has done

in ev’ry heart that sings.

In his wisdom he strengthens us,

like gold that’s tested in fire.

Though the power of sin prevails,

our God is there to save.

They’ll Know We Are Christians ( # 735)

We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord.

We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord,

And we pray that all unity may one day be restored:

And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love.

Yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.

We will walk with each other, we will alk hand in hand,

We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand,

And together we’ll spread the news that God is in our land:

We will work with each other, we willwork side by side,

We will work wiwth each other, we will work side by side,

And we’ll guard human’s dignity and save human’s pride:

All praise to the Father, from whom all things come, A

And all praise to Christ Jesus, his only Son,

And allpraise to the Spirit, who makes us one:

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!

Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee:

Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty

God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.

Holy, Holy, Holy! all the saints adore thee.

Casting down their golden crowns

around the glassy sea;

Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,

God everlasting through eternity.

Holy, Holy, Holy! Though the darkness hide thee,

Though the eye made blind by sin,

thy glory may not see,

Only thou art holy; there is none before thee

Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!

All thy works shall praise thy Name

in earth, and sky, and sea

Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty,

God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.

To Those Who Mourn (an excerpt)

For that is the real truth;

Man is a soul and has a body

The body is not the man; it is only

The clothing of the man.

What you call death is the laying aside

Of a worn-out garment, it is no more

The end of the man than it is the end of you

When you remove your coat.

Therefore you have not lost your friends;

You have only lost sight of the cloak in which you

Were accustomed to see him.

The cloak is gone, but the man who

Wore it is not;

Surely it is the man that you love and not

the garment.

C.W. Leadbeater

All Are Welcome

Vs1 Let us build a house where love can dwell

And all can safely live.

A place where saints and children tell

How hearts learn to forgive.

Built of hopes and dreams and visions,

Rock of faith and vault of grace;

Here the love of Christ shall end divisions:

Refrain: All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

V2 Let us build a house where prophets speak

And words are strong and true,

Where all God’s children dare to seek

To dream God’s reign anew.

Here the cross shall stand as witness

And as symbol of God’s grace;

Here as one we claim the faith of Jesus: Refrain:

Vs3 Let us build a house where love is found

In water, wine and wheat:

A banquet hall on holy ground ,

Where peace and justice meet.

Here the love of God, through Jesus,

Is revealed in time and space;

As we share in Christ the feast that frees us: Refrain:

Vs5 Let us build a house where all are named,

Their songs and visions heard

And loved and treasured, taught and claimed

As words within the Word, Built of tears and cries and laughter

Prayers of faith and songs of grace,

Let this house proclaim from floor to rafter: Refrain:

Strong Woman vs. Woman of Strength A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape, but a woman of strength kneels in prayer to keep her soul in shape. A strong woman isn't afraid of anything, but a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of fear. A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her, but a woman of strength gives the best of her to everyone. A strong woman walks sure footedly, but a woman of strength knows God will catch her when she falls. A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face, but a woman of strength wears grace. A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey, but a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong. -Mary Jane Dossett
