Dear applicants!

We are inviting you to our university to get one of the most interesting and human professions –

the profession of doctor.

Our medical school has considerable experience in training of doctors for foreign countries and

employs the best specialists of Kyrgyz Republic.

Strong intellectual potential, close cooperation with leading medical institutions, the use of

modern technologies, and individual approach to each student, all these ensure high quality of

training and future professional achievements of our graduates.

Training in our medical school is conducted in line with up-to-date standards applied in

European countries. We are offering our students the training programs best fit for their home

country needs or places where they want to practice medicine in future.

Dear Applicants!

Medicine is a great human Endeavour. Studying at medical school can be a path to developing

self knowledge. Career in medicine offers doctors an opportunity to provide a service to the

public through the diagnosis and treatment of illness , disease and infection.

We at “ISM FOCAL POINT” are given the great opportunity by International University of Kyrgyz

Republic to help the aspiring students to realize their dreams and achieve their goals. We

provide with strict study atmosphere. Monthly attendance and progress of the student are

posted on the academy website for the parents to check their wards progress report. Also

special coaching is given for MCI screening test from 1st year of M.B.B.S.

We have tried to build home away from home with meals cooked by Indian cook, clothes

washed and ironed.

Student and scholar in abroad have tremendous opportunities to explore their interests and

develop their thinking on a level very few Universities can match “ISM FOCAL POINT” is very

KYRGYZ REPUBLIC

Kyrgyzstan is one of the Central Asian republics bordering Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan and

Uzbekistan. It is a mountainous country, 93% of its territory is located at over 1000 meters

above sea level.Lake Issyk-Kul in the north-eastern Tian Shan is the largest lake in Kyrgyzstan and

the second largest mounain lake in the world after Titicaca.The runoff from the mountains is

also used for hydro-electricity.

The climate of Kyrgyzstan is a sharply continental climate with very hot summers and cold

winters in the mountain regions. Approximately 247 days a year are shiny. The temperature in

January varies between -4 º to -14 º C; in July varies between +12 º to +40 º C. In winter warm

clothes needed and in summer light clothes such as shorts and T-shirts are essential.

CITY OF BISHKEK

Bishkek , The capital of the republic of Kyrgyzstan with a population of about 1 million , is

situated in the north part of the country (chui-region ). Especially the center is heavily influenced

by the soviets, and you can enjoy quite a number of typical soviet-style architecture (

philharmonia concert hall, government building , Historic Museum , Monument for the Great

war of the native country ) but also modern monuments pointing out the traditional Kyrgz

culture ( Monument of Manas, Monument of Independence, as well as many statues of akyns,

Manas’chi and local governors of different periods ). The city is famous being one of the

greenest in the world , due to it’s countless parks and allees, which make the town a nice place

to live also in the heart of the summer.

INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF KYRGYZSTAN (IUK)

The International University of Kyrgyzstan (IUK) was created in March 1993 by a decree of

President of the Kyrgyz Republic (State license AL #039) that gave the University a status of

international higher education institution. The founders of the IUK are the Ministry of Education,

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Academy of Sciences and San Francisco State University

(USA). In short period of time the IUK has become one of the leading higher education

institutions of Kyrgyzstan and Central Asian region. The IUK awards diplomas of state standard.

The IUK is located in Bishkek – the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic. Building of the IUK is one of

the oldest and most beautiful buildings of Bishkek that is located on a central street of the city.

In addition to Bishkek Campus, the university has three campuses which are located in the

following cities: Osh and Jalal-Abad (southern region of Kyrgyzstan) and in Karakol-city (Issyk-Kul

region of Kyrgyzstan).

The IUK is a member of the World Association of Universities and Colleges (WAUC), Association

of European Universities (EUA), European Association for International Education (EAIE),

Global Alliance for Transnational Education (GATE), Federation of the Universities of the

Islamic World (FUIW), International Association of Universities under UNESCO.

The IUK was awarded with International Gold Quality Star 2001, founded by the BID (Business

Initiatives Directions) – organization. In 2001 the IUK has entered to the list of 30 best

universities of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

INTRODUCTION

International School of Medicine (ISM) is an international higher educational institution is a

structural unit of IUK created to train medical specialists, conduct medical research in

cooperation with leading health centers of the country and countries of Far abroad.

ISM was established on a special resolution of the Kyrgyz Government to train doctors in line with

up-to-date programs that meet international training standards and requirements in different

regions of the world.

ISM is one of the top higher educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan where the program with the

medium of instruction in English. As a part of IUK the ISM have signed the Bologna agreement

(EU), which sets up single and commonly European educational standards.

The International School of Medicine of International University of Kyrgyzstan is an official state

educational institution with the license of Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyz Republic

for medical education in General Medicine within 5 years of study. (Official license AL #540).At

present time more than 1800 student are studying into International University of Kyrgyzstan

among them 900 students are studying in the medical faculties from different countries.

International School of Medicine is officially registered at: Foundation for Advancement of

International Medical Education and Research, Institute for International Medical Education

(IIME), World Health Organization (WHO).

BASIC MISSION

is to train highly qualified specialists for Eurasian countries, conduct scientific research in

medicine of mountains, provide health services to the population of Kyrgyz Republic and

neighboring countries. Training at ISM is conducted with the most up-to-date educational

technologies used to ensure highly efficient training of doctors. The ISM’s primary goal is to

produce highly qualified doctors able to successfully work in any place of the globe.

ISM PROGRAMS

General Medicine (MD, 5 years, in English). The program intended for citizens of the British

Commonwealth countries is designed in compliance with the British system of medical

education. The program provides opportunities of employment in English speaking countries. All

the programs are implemented with the use of integration and modules based modern training

technology developed with the support of World Health Organization (WHO) experts.

Postgraduate studies (residency program, 3 years) are conducted in a broad range of such

clinical fields as: gynecology & obstetrics, surgery, traumatology & orthopedic, pediatrics,

internal medicine.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

ISM has sustainable and direct relations with medical schools of USA, Europe and CIS which

enable to implement a series of international joint projects.

ISM has General agreement between ISM, Bishkek and Lincoln University (LU), Oakland,

California, USA, 20.11.2006.

The Main Campus

This is the main centre for studies in the International School of Medicine (ISM). This is also the

main campus for International University of Kyrgyzstan (IUK) where other faculties other than

medicine also take place. It also consists of the main library where students can get books

issued for studies. It also has many halls with multimedia facilities and auditoriums.

The Administration Campus: This campus can be regarded as the back bone of ISM.

The Main Campus and Administration campus are located in the city centre. Both the campuses

are beside each other. The ISM Hostel is just behind the administrative campus. (MAP)ISM Class

Rooms in the National Hospitals.The departments include Cardiology, Endocrinology, Obstetrics

and Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Orthopedics, Oncology, Medical

Physiotherapy and many others etc.

Lectures are organized in the lecture halls. During practical classes, students are taken to the

respective departments to collect case histories of patients which encourage student-patient

interaction and contribute to the medical practical knowledge of students.

50% rating scores in intermediate

Necessary documents (originals of 10th and 12th pass certificate)

Passport with appropriate entry visa

8 photos (3x4)

Necessary documents when being transferred from other Higher Medical

Institution

Student should qualify the ISM Scholarship Exam
