• IUK was established by the Decree of President from 11th of March ¹ VII-74 and by Enactment of Government from 16th of March 1993 N113 and is the university with the status international higher educational institution

• In IUK students are taught by a multi-level system, which is based on the Euro-American university structure, which allows to make selection of students during the process of learning

• For the first time in the history of higher education in the Kyrgyz Republic, universally recognized credit technology of training was introduced in IUK

• IUK in September, 2002 the first in Central -Asian region has signed the World University Charter.

Stages of implementation the Bologna Principles in the Kyrgyz Republic (КR):

1.Education act of April 30 2003 № 92.

2.Bachelor – academic degree of undergraduate higher professional education , entitling for admission to magistracy and pursue the occupation of.

3.Master – academic degree of complete higher professional education , entitling for admission to post graduate school (institute of doctoral candidacy) and pursue the occupation of.

4.PhD under consideration.


Stages of implementation the Bologna Principles in the Kyrgyz Republic (КR):

Since 1993, credit transfer system of training has been implemented in International University of Kyrgyzstan2. “ Strategy of development professional higher education system in Kyrgyz Republic on 2003-2005 years “ is approved.3 In 1995 it was formed a working group under the Administration of President of KR “Integration of universities of Kyrgyzstan in Bologna Process” headed with Academician of NAS KR Aidaraliev A.A.4. Bologna Charta is signed with higher educational institutions of Kyrgyz Republic 2002 - IUK 2010 - Bishkek Academy of Finance and Economy 2011 - 12 universities of Kyrgyz Republic 5. Experiment on the organization of educational process within 6 universities according to ECTS (European Credit Transfer System ) on Economics was conducted by Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyz Republic 2004-2005yy. Phased transition to credit system of training for working out of common principles and approaches.

Realization of projects Tempus SCM–T012B04-2004 «Creating of National Information Centers on Bologna Process in Kyrgyz Republic

(KR) (bologna.kg)» and Tempus T057A06-KYR «The extension of centers on Bologna Process and supporting of tuning teams of Kyrgyz

Republic»

1. Supporting the intentions of Kyrgyz Republic to reform higher education with the accordance of Bologna Process and backing the intentions of Administration of the President, Government of KR, universities of Kyrgyzstan in realization and spreading the knowledge about Bologna Process.

2. Promoting improved understanding of the Bologna process and its importance for higher education reform of the Kyrgyz Republic.

3. Creating the National information center on Bologna Process at IUK, the branch at Osh Technical University and 4 regional spreading centers on Bologna Process.

4. Accumulation of information according to Bologna Process and its implementation.


5. Conducting trainings and seminars on current issues of the Bologna process.

6. Creation and site update www.bolognakg.net

7. Established a consortium of 15 universities (13 HEIs from Kyrgyz Republic and 2 HEIs from Europe).

8. More than 30 ECTS coordinators from HEIs – members of consortium have been trained on Bologna process in partner universities of Europe: in Pisa and in Bologna universities (Italy), in Gent university and in Flomandat Polytechnic Council (Belgium).

9. Pilot programs were composed on 11 directions for Tuning methodology (competency approach): ecology, business administration, tourism, management, architecture, engineering, informational technology

10. Since 2007 IUK issues Diploma Supplement of European standard.

The project proposal:

Aim – composing pilot programs on directions “Business Administration” and

“Tourism” based on competency approach (Tuning) and ECTS for ESRUCuniversities

consortium, in order to comparability, degrees transparency, academic and labor

mobility of students.


Tasks:

1.Studying approaches to curriculum development on ECTS and Tuning methodology (competency approach).

2. Composing pilot programs on first stage in directions “Business Administration” and “Tourism” based on competency approach and ECTS for ESRUC universities consortium for 3 cycles (bachelor, master, PhD).

3. Approbation of pilot programs in directions: “Business Administration” and “Tourism”.

4. Composing pilot programs on second stage in directions: architecture, mathematics, history, management, ecology, informational technology, construction, agriculture, economy.

5. Creation and development of national centers for implementation of Bologna process principles in ESRUC universities consortium.

6.Organization of academic and labor mobility of students.

7. Dissemination of results.
