@herophoto82

Code of Love and Honor.I am Miami.

I believe that a liberal education is grounded in qualities of character and intellect.

I stand for honesty, integrity, and the importance of moral conduct.

I respect the dignity, rights, and property of others and their right to hold and express disparate beliefs.

I defend the freedom of inquiry that is the heart of learning.

I exercise good judgment and believe in personal responsibility.

I welcome a diversity of people, ideas, and experiences.

I embrace the spirit, academic rigor, opportunities, and challenges of a Miami Experience, preparing me to make the world a better place.

I demonstrate Love and Honor by supporting and caring for my fellow Miamians.

And because I Am Miami, I act through my words and deeds in ways that reflect these values and beliefs.

With a deep sense of accomplishment and gratitude, I will Love, Honor, and make proud those who help me earn the joy and privilege of saying,

“To think that in such a place, I led such a life.”

Miami’s Code of Love and Honor articulates our shared values and expectations as a university community. The phrase comes from our fight song chorus, “Love and Honor to Miami.”

For first-year studentsHow do I select a meal plan? After Miami University receives your confirmation deposit, you’ll be given access to the online Residence Hall and Meal Plan contract. We encourage you to complete and submit this contract by December 16, 2016. Students who don’t submit the contract by the deadline will be assigned a meal plan. You can find information about meal plans at MiamiOH.edu/mealplans.

Do I need to send Miami University my final grades and proof of graduation? If you have not yet graduated from high school/secondary school, your acceptance to Miami University is conditioned upon your graduation and the submission of your final high school/secondary school transcript. It is understood that you must maintain a high level of academic achievement and personal conduct during your last year. If your final transcript shows that you did not perform to a high academic level, if you are suspended, dismissed, or placed on probation by your school, or if you are convicted of a criminal offense other than a minor traffic incident or such charges are pending against you prior to your attendance, Miami University reserves the right to withdraw the offer of admission.

Please ask your high school/secondary school administrator to send the Office of Admission your final transcript with the certificate or diploma of graduation included as soon as possible after graduation. You also have the option to bring your final transcript with you to Miami University.

For transfer studentsHow do I select a meal plan?Complete and submit the online Residence Hall and Meal Plan contract by December 16, 2016. You can find information about meal plans at MiamiOH.edu/mealplans.

Why is a final transcript required if I’ve already been accepted? It is required because our offer of acceptance is based upon review of all prior university coursework and your high school/secondary school transcript, including grades from current completed coursework in which you may be enrolled. Also, your final transcript should demonstrate your consistent effort in maintaining your grade point average (GPA). It is understood that you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.00 in all college coursework. If your final transcript shows that you did not meet this expectation, if you are suspended, dismissed, or placed on probation by your school, or if you are convicted of a criminal offense other than a minor traffic incident or such charges are pending against you prior to your attendance, Miami University reserves the right to withdraw the offer of admission. Your transcript must be received before the start of classes. To get an idea of how your credits will transfer, please refer to the International Transfer Student Supplement included in your acceptance packet. Steps are outlined on how to use transferology.com or request a transfer credit evaluation.

For first-year and transfer studentsHow do I change my major? If you are now prepared to choose a major or if you wish to change your major in the College of Arts and Science; the College of Creative Arts (Art and Architecture History or Interactive Media Studies); the College of Education, Health and Society; or the College of Engineering and Computing, you may make that change during orientation. However, you must complete and meet other admission requirements if you want to change your major to the Farmer School of Business (for Accountancy, Analytics, Business Economics, Finance, Interdisciplinary Business Management, Information Systems, Management and Leadership, Marketing, or Supply Chain and Operations Management), or the College of Creative Arts (for Architecture, Art, Art Education, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Music, Music Education, Music Performance, or Theatre). These areas of study have special requirements for admission and students are admitted on a space-available basis.

When will I receive information about merit scholarships? All admitted international students are automatically considered for merit-based awards during admission review. These scholarships are competitive, and no additional application is necessary. If you have received a scholarship, the award is indicated on the I-20 document and in a separate scholarship award letter included in this packet. Please note that Miami University does not offer need-based scholarships or financial aid to international students, therefore, please budget your finances accordingly.

What do I need to do if I plan to go to another institution and decline the offer of admission from Miami University? You may discard the I-20 document and notify the Office of Admission. Send an email with subject line “Decline Admission” to [email protected].

Can I defer admission? Miami University typically allows students to defer offers of admission for military service or medical reasons. We will consider other requests. Requests for deferrals should be made in writing to the Office of Admission at [email protected].

I have more questions! Who should I call? The Office of Admission will be happy to answer your questions or refer you to the appropriate office. Contact the office via email at [email protected] or call +1-513-529-2531 to speak with a member of the international recruitment team.
