Scheduling Information Program Length: Groups can select from five different field trip options: 2-hour field trip 2.5-hour field trip 3-hour field trip 2-hour large groups 1-hour budget friendly What’s Included: During field trips, your students will experience: Hands-on activities Guided hike Tour of center Live science presentation Group Size: Field trips can be made for the following group sizes: 10-60 students 61-120 students Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate groups of less than 5 students. Groups with 5-10 students will be charged for 10 students. Parents & Chaperones: We ask that parents please pay the same cost that students pay. There is no fee for teachers and bus drivers for the field trip.

Weather: All programs take place rain or shine. Reschedule/Cancel: You may reschedule your field trip (if space is available). Field trips must be cancelled 2 weeks in advance. Lunch Information: After the field trip, your group may stay for a picnic lunch on our grounds. We have a total of six picnic tables and outside space as well for your use. We do not provide lunch or have food available for purchase. If you have questions about having food delivered, please call our main line at 706-507-8550.

Field Trip Formats & Fees

Hands-on education in the ecosySTEM

NEW for 2017-2018:

ALL field trips will now include a live-science presentation!

Each field trip will also include a tour and guided hike.

2.5-HOUR PROGRAM More intense exploration RATES: $7 per student; up to 60 students, divided into 2 groups

Enjoy an extended field trip with 2 hands-on activi-ties, a live science presentation, a guided hike, and a tour of the center.

2-HOUR LARGE GROUP PROGRAM RATES: $7 per student; up to 120 students, divid-ed in 4 groups Prefect option for large groups when you will enjoy a live science presentation, tour of the center, and a themed guided hike.

2- HOUR PROGRAM Teacher’s Most Popular Choice! RATES: $6 per student; up to 60 students, divided into 2 groups Enjoy one hands-on activity, a live-science presentation, a guided hike, and a tour of the center.

1-HOUR LIVE-ANIMAL PROGRAM Budget Friendly

RATES: $3 per student; up to 120 students

Perfect option for a quick field trip where students will enjoy a one-hour live-animal presentation.

Field Trips Available Start Times: 9:00am 9:30am

10:00am 10:30am

Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of your field trip to allow time for waiver collection, payment, and for getting students into groups. Additional questions? Please email our Program Manager for additional information. Email on website.

3-HOUR PROGRAM Best of both worlds! RATES: $9 per student; up to 60 students, divided in 2 groups

Benefit from combining two-separate 1-hour pro-grams and a 1-hour live-science presentation that include a tour of the center, and a guided hike.

Live-Science Presentations Live-Animal Program

During the Live-Animal Program, students will learn about reptiles and amphibians with the use of live animals

STEMsational Science NEW!!! Calling all scientists!! Watch and learn through science demonstrations the properties of water and air. Following the science demonstrations, students will engineer bubbles and learn about how animals use bubbles to survive.

Wildlife Explorations Learn about the different wildlife at Oxbow as we explore outside as they learn about entomology, ornithology, and ways animals survive. GSE: SKL1, SKL2, S1L1

Seasonal Discovery What changes can you find during the different seasons? Students will explore the different ways plants survive in each season. GSE: SKL1, SKL2, S1L1

Clouds & Weather

What changes can you find during the different seasons? Students will explore the different ways plants survive in each season. GSE: SKL1, SKL2, S1L1

Aquatic Studies Learn about the different animals that live in our many ponds at Oxbow. Students will also learn about the different ways these animals live in various habitats. GSE: SKL1, SKL2, S1L1

Ozobots for Lil’ Tots Using robotics, students will learn about migration, animal senses, and behavior. GSE: SKL1, SKL2, S1L1

Life Cycles Students will learn about life cycles of insects and plants as they explore the grounds of Oxbow. GSE: S2L1, S3L1

Tree Factory What are all the part of the life cycle of a tree? What does the inside of a tree look like? Learn these and more during this field trip! GSE: S2L1, S3L1, S3L2

Who Polluted the River?

Learn about water pollution as students plan and carry out an investigation using a model. GSE: S2E3, S3L2

Digging Deeper Students will dig a little deeper into learning about soils, rocks, and even take a glimpse at fossils. GSE: S3E1, S3E1

Aquatic Studies Learn about the different animals that live in our many ponds at Oxbow. Students will also learn about the different ways these animals live in various habitats. GSE: S2L1, S3L1, S3L2

Flow of Energy Students will learn about how energy flows through an ecosystem and will illustrate how ecosystems change over time. GSE: S4L1

Field Studies Students will observe, identify, and classify various animals and plants. GSE: S4L1, S5L1

Tree-mendous Trees Students will study the living and non-living things in a ecosystem and also learn to identify trees. GSE: S4L1, S5L1

Decomposition There is a fungus among us as students will learn all about decomposition and composting. GSE: S4L1, S5L4

Water Cycle Learn about the amazing water cycle as students demonstrate the different roles involved. GSE: S4E3

Aquatic Studies Learn about the different animals that live in our many ponds and the ways these animals survive. GSE: S4L1, S5L1

Wonders of the Wetlands

Learn about wetlands including the plants and animals found in the aquatic habitat. GSE: S4L1, S5L1

Ozobots for Lil’ Tots Using robotics, students will learn about migration, animal senses, and behavior. GSE: S4L1, S5L1

Lego Robotic Zoo It’s the wild side of robotics as students learn about adaptations with the help of robotics and simple coding. GSE: S4L1, S5L1
