1. DESCRIPTION Bivvy bag 2000 is a cover to Sleeping bag 2000. The cover consists of two different materials, the upper side is a 3-layers polyamide fabric laminated with a membrane which is water vapour permeable and water resistant, underneath is a PU-coated polyamid fabric which is water- and water vapour resistant. The bivvy bag has a zipper at the left side which is covered by a windbreaker. There is also a space for the marching kit at the head end, and the size of the cover gives the possibility to have the sleeping mat inside. Each corner is equipped with a textile loop. It is possible to put up the upper part and also provide it with a mosquito-net.

8. Appendix 1 Measuring Oxygen Permeation under rain - determining of Permeation Rate P 1. Preparation of test samples:

Initial: cut out 3 circular samples, ∅ 11.2 cm, along the fabric width. After home launderings: 10 x home laundering in accordance with DIN EN ISO 6330 (1994) 2A of the material to be tested (washing sample: 50 cm/fabric width). Tumble-dry material as specified in ISO 6330, drying procedure E2 (60°C) for 30 min. Cut out 3 circular samples, ∅ 11.2 cm, along the fabric width. 2. Testing procedure:

- Connect measuring cells to data recording unit. - Connect nitrogen supply line to measuring cells. - Switch on ventilators in measuring cells. - Calibrate (program) oxygen sensors at 12.8 – 13.0 mV ( ≅ 20.9% oxygen). - Place test samples over measuring cells. - Measure samples when dry: start data recording unit (recording rate: every 3

seconds). After 10 seconds, open nitrogen supply line to fill measuring cells until all oxygen sensors have dropped below 3.0mV (≅ 5% oxygen). Close nitrogen supply line. Continue data recording until all sensors are above 10.0mV (≅ 15% oxygen). Stop recording. Evaluate within the range of 5% - 15 % oxygen.

- Measure samples when exposed to rain: tilt measuring cells through an angle of 15°. Start showering (rate: (85 ± 5 l/m² h)). Start data recording unit (recording rate: every 3 seconds) after defined time of exposure to rain (for example 60 min). After 10 seconds, open nitrogen supply line to fill measuring cells until all oxygen sensors have dropped below 3.0mV (≅ 5% oxygen). Close nitrogen supply line. Continue data recording until all sensors are above 10.0mV (≅ 15% oxygen). Stop recording. Evaluation range: between 5% and 15% oxygen.

3. Evaluation:

- Read the data of each individual measuring cell from the data recording unit into the calculation program.

- Determine average value of the three individual results along the fabric width. - The calculation shall be based on the time required by one test sample in order to

adjust the oxygen content of the measuring cell from 5% to 15% oxygen. The unit of the determined permeation P shall be given in [m³/m²h bar].
