(1)Geo-Spatial Information Coordination Commission of China was formally founded in 1998 sanctified by the State Department. One of its major
functions is to organize, study and formulate the planning, standards, policies, and
development strategies for the national spatial information infrastructure

(2) National Standardization Technical Committee for Geomatics (SAC/TC 230)
was established in 1997 under the approval by AQSIQ and as a nationwide technical
organization engaged in standardization for the field of geo-information. The aim is to establish a structured set of standards for information concerning objects or phenomena that are directly or indirectly associated with a location relative to the Earth. The main responsibilities are increasing the availability, access, integrating, and sharing of geographic information, accelerating national level of geomatics standard, promoting the service & application . Commissioned by SAC , the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping (SBSM) is in charge of directing and managing of SAC/TC230. Both the Secretariat ofSAC/TC230 and the Chinese Technical Administration Office of ISO/TC 211 areattached to the National Geomatics Center of China (NGCC).
