Pearl: a culinary and cultural destination in San Antonio, Texas

Pearl is a neighborhood and like all great neighborhoods it has a rich history upheld by the many people who have ties to the place—the buildings, the River, the brewery since it was founded in the 1880s.

Pearl is also a place where we like to get together—to share meals, to learn, to work, to live, to gather. With hundreds of apartments, 20+ restaurants and cafes, a dozen retailers, and a two-acre park housing our twice weekly Farmers Market and year-round free programming, this neighborhood is always full of life and activity.

LOCAL FLAVORSINCE 1883

We invite friends, neighbors, and visitors to join us in our plaza, open spaces, and at our year-round series of music, food, and cultural events.

Cured has received numerous accolades and Chef McHugh is a four-time James Beard nominee.

Eat at Pearl

Bakery Lorraine – Bakery Lorraine specializes in classic French pastry and brings a playful inventiveness to all its baked goods. Every item is handmade with the utmost care and attention to detail using only the finest ingredients—from the miller’s flour to the farmer’s eggs and butter.

Blue Box Bar – From Stephen Mahoney comes Pearl’s first bar, Blue Box, which opened in May 2012. The cocktail menu features drinks handcrafted by in-house mixologists and offers a modern approach to drinks and design.

Boiler House – Chef Jarrad Gwaltney’s menu focuses on Texas ranch-style grilling with wild game, seafood, and the freshest local ingredients available. Housed in the brewery’s original boiler house, the restaurant’s design showcases architectural features from the 1896 building.

Botika – Executive Chef Geronimo Lopez’s Peruvian-Asian restaurant features “Chifa” (Chinese-Peruvian) and “Nikkei” (Japanese-Peruvian) cuisines, as well as inventive takes on traditional dishes from across Asia and Latin America.

Pearl is home to a diverse food community that invites culinary explorers of all ages to partake in extraordinary food experiences—from street tacos to high-concept cuisine.

Food brings us together; food helps us tell stories about who we are and where we come from. We like to think of Pearl as an experimental space, a collaboration between farmers, ranchers, chefs, home cooks, and people who just love food. Our Farmers Market is the first year-round market in the region. We’re home to the third U.S. campus—along with New York and California—of The Culinary Institute of America. In 2017 we opened the Bottling Department Food Hall.

Come eat with us, take classes, get to know our farmers, celebrate regional traditions, and most importantly—join our community and our table.

Bottling Department – Opened in summer 2017, Bottling Department's food hall vendors reflect the spirit of Pearl: emerging local chefs alongside established culinary professionals. Together they are the heart and soul of San Antonio’s rich and growing reputation as a culinary destination. Their mix of ingredients, tastes, and styles combine to create a community united by culture and rooted in well-crafted, high-quality food. More information: bottlingdept.com
