The day came when his children were also taken away from him and sold. One day Henry met a man who was against slavery. He helped Henry escape inside a box and shipped to a place where there wasn’t any slavery.

March is a graphic novel on the life struggles of Congressman John Lewis during the civil rights movement. He writes about how his life changed after meeting Martin Luther King. He led many non-‐violent student movements such as lunch counter sit-‐ins to try to stop segregation. This is one of three books written by Lewis.

Uncle Jed had money saved up to open his barbershop but gave it toward Sarah’s operation. Sarah understood that delayed him from making his dream come true. He went through several obstacles before finally opening his own barbershop at the age of 79.

Her family along with the community formed a petition and a lawsuit against the school district in California. Because of this segregation in California eventually ended.

As a child she grew up in the shadows of her older sister who was very smart compared to her. Jacqueline struggled in her academics but grew up to be a one of many great writers.
