Our Vision We at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Pinjarra, seek to create a God centred

environment where each school community member is nurtured spiritually, academically, socially and physically.

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY: 15th AUGUST

The Feast of the Assumption is an important day in the Catholic religion. It is the principal

feast of the Blessed Virgin, the mother of Jesus Christ. This feast commemorates two events -

the departure of Mary from this life and the assumption of her body into heaven.

The Church's official doctrine of the Assumption says that at the end of her life on earth

Mary was assumed, body and soul, into heaven.

Through May we pray that we may learn the way of Jesus her son.

With Mary may we be close to Jesus in our prayers, work and play.

Like Mary may we listen to God and do what he wants us to do.

May Mary be a sign of hope, love, peace, joy and comfort in our lives.

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members, A belated welcome back from me to you, after my return from long service leave. Last week staff had a reflective retreat discovering Pope Francis’ Encyclical ‘The Joy of the Gospel’ which supports our Evangelisation Plan to come to know Jesus more fully. We would like to offer a special thank you to Dr Michael Jackson, for leading us through the retreat and to Fr Wayne Bendotti for sharing the experiences and celebrating Mass with us. FUN RUN PRIZES Prizes are on the way for last Term’s Fun Run/Cross Country event. When the figures are finalised I will let families know the results of your fundraising efforts. CLUBS We are hoping to commence Clubs again this term. Lisa Ripley has sent out letters seeking help. Please consider offering an hour of your time to help reduce the group sizes. It will run on Friday afternoons between 2pm –3 pm to allow for packing up prior to the final siren. BOOK WEEK To support Book Week we are running our bi-annual Book Fair over two weeks commencing Monday 17 August (Week 5) and finishing Friday 28 August (Week 6). DRESS UP FOR BOOK WEEK Miss Connelly has organised a ‘Dress Up Day’ in Week 5 on Thursday 20th August, where children can dress up to show how books or characters ‘Light Up Their World’, which is the theme of Book Week this year. She has also organised, through the Murray Library, for an illustrator and author from Bridgetown, to talk to the children on Wednesday at 1:30pm.
