Our trip in Scotland

Day 1: 20th of March

The D day! Everyone is ready to take the plane to go to Scotland!

After the flight, we finally arrived in this mysterious country... SCOTLAND

We met our host family, came with them to their house and slept our first night in Scotland.

Day 2 : 21st of March :"Visit of Edinburgh"

Second day in Scotland… It’s cold here ! Put your boots and cloves on and let’s go to Edinburgh !!A beautiful old city

In the capital of Scotland, a very touristic place, we find a lot of elements about the story of the country.

The afternoon, we went to the NMS (National Museum of Scotland)

…. We went back in time to discover the story of Scotland

…And talk with Scottish people ! (doesn’t mean we understood everything they said of course…)

YOU SHOULD KNOW that the Scottish accent is really different from the English one. As a consequence, it was very difficult for us to understand what people said.

After a long (and cold) day, we came back to our host family, and spent the night with them.

Day 3 : 22nd of March: "Back to the roman time..."

Third day in Scotland… it’s still cold !

The teacher told us some instructions and we took our loved bus. Our destination ? The Hadrian’s wall which, for the romans, represented the edges of the world (Hadrian was the imperator of the roman's empire when the wall was built)

The day passes very fast and everybody slept very well (I guess so)

Day 4: 23rd of March: "Visit of Glasgow"

The morning, we went to Glasgow and saw the Burrell collection.

Unfortunately, we couldn't see all the collection, but however it was an interesting museum with beautiful paintings, carpets, and other collector objects (like chairs and other furnitures).

The afternoon, we visited the Glasgow School of Arts (a mackintosh building).

The mackintosh art was a famous movement. The main geometrical figure of this art is the square.

In the Glasgow School of Arts, we saw an exhibition of paintings made by the students of this school.

Then, we walked around Glasgow, a gorgeous city.

Day 5: 24th of March: The Loch Lomond

We went to the Loch Lomond, a small loch surrounded by snowed mountains. There, we had to make a “roman photo”. We did it by little groups. We have to prove if there was a monster in this loch, or not.

Day 6: 25th of March:Abbey and castle

We went to the Dunfermline Abbey, an old Benedictine abbey destroyed and sacked in 1560 during the Scottish Reformation to use the money for the war. It had became famous and rich in the 16th century because there is a lot of royal graves there.

Then, we came to St-Andrew where we lunched before visiting its ruined castle. Only few of its walls left. The castle is situated just on the edges of cliffs, next to the North see, and swept by the sea spray...

Finally, we visited the St-Andrew's cathedral, a ruin in front of the sea, and its graves...

We had to write a poem in 1hour and a half by group of two helped by a

model. To be protected from the cold wind, we had to sit on the graves! Then, the teachers took our poems and elect the 3 best poems.

Day 7: 26th of March

The last day in Scotland... and the sky didn't decide to make the sun shine! But anyway, it was a great day.

We went to Edinburgh (for the second time) and did a funny "hunt" around the city. We had to look for elements of the city, and it permitted to discover the place well.

The afternoon, we played a game. We had to solve a mystery, and find the culprit of a crime.

Finally, it was a very funny day!And above all... it was a great week!We will never forget this wonderful trip...
