Sarah is married to James and they have two children, Kyler (21) and Ian (19). She is currently a homemaker, a!ended State University of New York at Fredonia, and majored in Computer

Science.

When asked what brought her to the Catholic Church, Sarah answered: “Being Na0ve

American, I was raised in the tradi0onal religion of my tribe. During my childhood and young

adulthood I explored many different denomina0ons and never found one that actually felt “right”. Jim is Catholic from birth so he was my introduc0on to Catholicism. When we moved

to Florida we decided that we’d like to a!end church, since we lived in Winter Park we were

fortunate to be close to St Margaret Mary. I have never felt so welcomed and comfortable in a church and the longer I a!ended, I found that this is exactly where I need to be.

I am not only looking forward to my bap0sm and confirma0on but I am very much looking forward to volunteering in the

church wherever I can. I was an auxiliary member of a volunteer fire company in New York for almost 10 years and I love

to share my 0me doing what I can to help others.”

November 19 2017 The first World Day of the Poor is observed

on Sunday, November 19, 2017. In his

apostolic le!er to close the Year of Mercy,

Pope Francis suggested the Catholic

Church set aside one day each year when

communi0es can “reflect on how poverty

is at the very heart of the Gospel.” He

designated this day as the World Day of

the Poor and it will be celebrated on the

33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time each year.

“As long as Lazarus lies at the door of our

homes (cf. Luke 16:19–21), there can be no

jus0ce or social peace.” –Pope Francis

Here is a prayer that you can pray this

week as we recognize our Gospel call to

remember the poor in our community and

in our world.

On my television, On my newsfeed, On my

street, Everywhere I go, I see Lazarus. But I

also see so many doors, Doors that I’ve

built, That I’ve closed. Doors that society

has hung and locked. Doors that separate

me from Lazarus. Lord, teach me to open

the door to Lazarus, To the poor. To know

them as your children, To li# them in their

distress, To work to help them find a fair

share of your bounty. This World Day of the

Poor, Help us all turn to those outside our

door— To bless, heal, comfort; And

together, from this day forward, build a

world Where the poor are strangers to

none, And, indeed, the very chains of

poverty are broken. Amen.

! " # $% The Orlando Diocese Office of Advocacy and Social Jus0ce urges

you to call for a vote and support passage of H.R. 390, the Iraq

and Syria Genocide Emergency Relief and Accountability Act.

Chris0ans and other religious and ethnic minori0es are in dire

need of assistance, aHer having suffered horrendous persecu0on

at the hands of extremists and been displaced from their homes

and livelihoods, oHen mul0ple 0mes.

H.R. 390 will provide much needed assistance for survivors of

genocide and would help direct U.S. support to faith-based

organiza0ons that are already providing humanitarian relief and

rebuilding assistance to communi0es that suffered genocide. This

bill would help ensure U.S. funding for genocide survivors and

also seeks to hold those responsible for these atroci0es

accountable in order to prevent future genocides. You can

respond at votervoice.net/USCCB/campai ns/55074/respond.

$On behalf of the parish, Fr. Walsh, and about 200 individual

parishioners recently signed the Live Laudato Si pledge to make

real choices to implement Pope Francis’ teachings on the

environment. The first commitment is to pray for, and with

crea0on. During this season of giving thanks, create 0me to

ponder the beauty of crea0on and to pray for greater individual,

community, and na0onal commitment to protec0on and

restora0on of our damaged environment. “Our very contact

with nature has a deep restora0ve power; contempla0on of its

magnificence imparts peace and serenity. The Bible speaks again

and again of the goodness and beauty of crea0on, which is called

to glorify God.” (Pope John Paul II, 1990 World Day of Peace

Message, no. 14)
