Who Can Receive Holy Communion? *Important-Please read* The Catholic Church sets out specific guidelines regarding how we should prepare ourselves to receive the Lord’s body and blood in Communion. First, you must be in a state of grace. “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread of drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord, let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup” (1 Cr. 11:27-28). This is an absolute requirement that can never be dispensed. To receive the Eucharist without sanctifying grace in your soul profanes the Eucharist in the most grievous manner. A mortal sin is any sin whose matter is grave and which has been committed willfully and with knowledge of its seriousness. Grave matter includes, but is not limited to, murder, receiving or participation in an abortion, homosexual acts, having sexual intercourse outside of marriage or in an invalid marriage, and deliberately engaging in impure thoughts (Matt. 5:28-29). Scripture contains lists of mortal sins (for example, 1 Cor. 6:9-10 and Gal. 5:19-21). For further information on what constitutes a mortal sin, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Dear Friends,

With Lent being just two weeks away, now is a great time to start thinking about ways to enter into this liturgical season to make it more fruitful for you and your family.

I’d like to remind you all about the FORMED website our parish cluster subscribes to. I know many of you use this resource, but some folks are still unaware of the benefits of this powerful evangelization tool!

FORMED is an online service that provides access to thousands of Catholic videos, audios, and ebooks. By signing up for a FORMED account, you have access to Catholic saint movies, teen programming, documentaries, and bible studies. FORMED has been referred to as a Catholic “Netflix.”

I’m passionate about getting the faith into homes, and a FORMED subscription helps us to achieve this!

Below is a testimony from one of our youth about how FORMED has helped her grow in her faith.

“I love the FORMED website. I’ve listened to all of the teen talks and I like the audio dramas. There is a variety of content to choose from and I’ve grown in my faith because of the website.

I really liked the FORMED movie about St. Bakhita. The movie was well done and it opened my eyes to more of her story. I admired St. Bakhita's courage and hope that things would always get better. I also admired her willpower to keep going and the smile that she always had even amid hardships.

St. Bakhita made me realize how much of a difference a smile can make. I want to be happier around the house and offer a smile to my family even when it is difficult. I highly recommend the movie. - Therese Mead age 15, a parishioner at Immaculate Conception.

Please let Father Gregory know if you are going into the hospital so he can visit. Let us know if you’d like to be on the bulletin prayer list and/or call your prayer line representative.

Mark your Calendars! Father Gregory will be celebrating, with a party, his 25th Anniversary

of Priesthood! Pentecost Sunday, May 31st, 2-:6 p.m.

More details to come.
