Hello. My name is Faemoezoe, but you can call me Moe. I am so glad that all of you are here for this tour of our Planets. Lets pack up our stuff and hit the milky way. Are you ready for an OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD EXPERIENCE?

Ladies and gentlemen, the Captain has turned on the Fasten Seat Belt sign. If you havent already done so, please stow your books In your desk. Please take your seat and fasten your seat belt. If you are seated next to someone that you will be distracted by, please ask your flight attendant to reseat you. If you do not wish to perform the following directions, there will be consequences as stated in the classroom rules.

At this time, we request that everything be removed from your desk for the full duration of the flight, as these items might interfere with the learning that will take place on this aircraft. We will notify you when it is safe to use such devices. If you have any questions about our flight today, please dont hesitate to ask one of our flight attendants. Thank you.

Our solar System Consists of nine planets.

-can anyone name the order they are in from the sun? -Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune (Pluto)

Heres a good way to remember: My Very Easy Method Just Showed Us Nine Planets.

They all revolve around the Sun, which is the main source of light and heat for these nine planets.

It is the Sun's strong pull of gravity which keeps the planets in orbit around it.

First Stop the Sun! -Can anyone tell me anything that they know about the sun?

What Role does the sun play here on Earth? The sun plays a very important role! It gives light, heat and energy to provide life on Earth. Without the resources from the sun, life on earth would be nonexistent.

The sun is a powerful center of attention. It holds the solar system together. If the sun were a hollow ball, more than a million Earths could stuff inside it. But the sun isn't hollow. It's filled with scorching hot gases that account for more than 99.8 percent of the total mass in the solar system.Lets get out of here, its too hot! Next stop, Mercury! Sun

Mercury The closest Planet to the Sun.

It is covered by dust, rocks, and craters. It takes 59 days for it to rotate once around its axis.

Mercury can reach a high of 800 degrees and a low of about 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

It takes longer to rotate once around its axis than to revolve once around the sun.

On Venus a day is slightly more than a year.About the same size as Earth.Has mountains, valleys, and plains. The heat is about 450 degrees Celsius.Has no water. Life as we know it could not survive here.

Only rocks can handle the high temperature and crushing pressure.

-Our next stop is one that we all know and love, Earth!

Venus

Earth

70% of its surface is water& the other 30% is land. Its tilt causes the seasons on the planet.Earth is the only planet in the universe which is known to support life. Earth is almost five billion years old. The center of the Earth, its core, is molten. Earth is the only planet in the Solar System known to be geologically active.Next stop Mars!

The largest volcano in the Solar System is on Mars, called Olympus Mons.Mars has seasons like Earth. This is caused by the tilt of the planet's axis, at a similar angle to the tilt of Earth's axisRocks from Mars have landed on Earth from meteorite impacts blasting debris through space. The average temperature on Mars is about -67 F.Mars

Jupiter

Earth could fit into Jupiter over 1300 times! Jupiter is made up almost entirely of gas. Jupiter's famous Red Spot is a great storm that has raged for at least four hundred years. Jupiter has a thin set of rings, hardly visible from Earth.Jupiter has the strongest pull of gravity in the Solar System. If we were able to stand on the surface of Jupiter, we would weigh three times as much as we would on Earth.

Saturn is the second largest planet. The many moons of Saturn are as different as fire and ice. There are at least 24 of them.Saturn's rings are believed to be the particles of an old moon orbiting the planet, smashed apart in a collision abut 50 million years ago. A year on Saturn would take almost thirty Earth years.Saturn is twice as far away from the Sun as Jupiter is.Saturn

It takes just over 84 years on Earth for Uranus to orbit the Sun.Uranus is the only planet in our solar system to rotate on its side.If we were able to see Uranus' moons orbiting the planet, they would go over and under the planet like lights on a ferris wheel.Uranus' pale blue color is caused by the methane in its atmosphere which filters out red light.

Uranus

Neptune sometimes orbits the Sun further away than Pluto making it the most distant planet in the Solar System.Since its discovery in 1846, Neptune has not yet completed a full orbit. In fact, it takes 165 years for the planet to go around the Sun.Neptune has the strongest winds in the Solar System, and a dark spot, similar to Jupiter's Great Red SpotNeptune

Discovered in 1930, Pluto was long considered our solar system's ninth planet. But after the discovery of similar intriguing worlds deeper in the distant Kuiper Belt, icy Pluto was reclassified as a dwarf planet .What is a dwarf planet?

The main distinction between a dwarf planet and a planet is that planets have cleared the path around the sun while dwarf planets tend to orbit in zones of similar objects that can cross their path around the sun, such as the asteroid and Kuiper Belts. Dwarf planets also are generally smaller than the planet Mercury.Pluto

In 2006 Pluto was stripped of its planet status. Its average temperature hovers around -356 degrees FahrenheitPluto's surface is composed of a mixture of frozen nitrogen, methane, and carbon monoxide ices. The dwarf planet also has polar caps and regions of frozen methane and nitrogen.

Pluto

Ladies and gentlemen, as we start our trip back, please make sure you are sitting upright in your desks. Make sure your seat belt is securely fastened. Please wait to take out any books, pencils, or papers until we are safely parked at the gate. Thank you.In order for us to land, we will need to answer some questions about our journey. Each question that is answered correctly will fuel our rocket ship passed another planet.

We do not have enough fuel to have a safe lift off. Lets see if we answer these questions correctly if we can fuel the rocket ship! Is Pluto considered a regular planet?A: No What kind of planet is Pluto Considered? A: Dwarf Planet

Neptune

Great job on lift off! Now, we are passing Neptune, can you tell me how many years it takes for the planet to go around the sun? -165 years

Uranus

We need to keep our knowledge flowing, what causes the pale blue color of Uranus?-The methane that is in its atmosphere.

Since this planet is the second largest we will need to answer multiple questions to get passed this Planet. Which Planet am i? -Saturn

How many earth years is equivalent to 1 year on Saturn? -30 Earth years=1 year on Saturn

Jupiter

Phew! That was a close one, I am so glad we made it passed Saturn!

What is Jupiters famous red spot?

a great storm that has raged for at least four hundred years.

Mars

Great job!

What is one thing that mars has in common with Earth?

Mars has seasons like Earth.

Earth

Woah! It seems like we are having trouble. You have answered so many questions that you gave the rocket ship so much energy that has caused us to fly right passed Planet Earth! Good job, but in order to have enough fuel to turn around we will need to head to the next two planets, and turning around after we fly to the sun!

Venus

Does Venus have water?-No

Can life survive on this planet? -No Why not?

Mercury

What is Mercury covered by? -dust, rocks, and craters

How many days does it take to rotate once around its axis? -59 days Mercury

Sun

Our last stop! After this we will fly straight to Earth, and our journey will end.

Can you name three characteristics of the sun? -Its a powerful center of attention-It is filled with hot gasses. - It takes up most of the total mass in the solar system. Great Job! We are now on our way back to planet Earth!

Earth

In order to land safely we need to answer these two questions about Earth: How old is the Earth? -5 billion years old 2. What percent of the earth is water? -70% Ladies and Gentlemen we have been given the ok to land.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Ms. White's Airport. For your safety and comfort, we ask that you please remain seated with your seat belt fastened until the Captain turns off the Fasten Seat Belt sign. This will indicate that we haveparked at the gate and that it is safe for you to move about. Please check around your seat for any personal belongings you may have brought onboard with you and please use caution when opening the overhead bins, as heavy articles may have shifted around during the flight. If you require deplaning assistance, please remain in your seat until all other passengers have deplaned. One of our crew members will then be pleased to assist you.We remind you to please wait until you take out any books until your captain has asked you too. On behalf of Outofthisworld Airlines and the entire crew, Id like to thank you for joining us on this trip and we are looking forward to seeing you on board again in the near future. Have a nice day
