Stops pick attemts: The Intellitec system

Have you ever considered that your key can be copied without your knowledge or agreement?

Sometimes we give our keys to people without hesitation - both in our private and commercial lives. But how do we know that these people; employees, tradesmen or whom ever are completely honest? Because if they aren‘t „black“ keys can get into circulation and the owner of the key may not even know it.

Unauthorized copying of keys is hard to trace and potentially a security risk to your premises.

Many manufacturers use a common keyway for their lo-cking systems where key blanks are readily available from copy key blank manufacturers. Using these copy blanks many high street retailers are able to copy a key on a standard key copying machine, resulting in an identical key with the same lock capabilities as the original.

Protection against unauthorized key copying Systems Y14 Deltus and Bravus guarantee security

Security risk: illegal key copies

There is no checking procedure with the high street retailers and authority from the owner of the locking system to cut a common keyway blank is not a legal requirement. As the owner of the locking system that uses a common keyway, you are unlikely to know who has a copy of keys, or more importantly access to your premises.

Protection against copying provides security

One of the duties as a specialized dealer is to highlight these issues to you and offer an effective solution. We recommend that both legal and mechanical protection against unauthorized key copying is part of your purchasing requirements.

Legal protection

Legal protection against unauthorized key copying can be pro-vided by purchasing a lock system that uses key blanks covered by patent and trade mark protection. Copy key blank manufac-turers are unable to legally copy these keys and offer them for circulation to the high street retailers.

Mechanical protection

Further protection can be provided by use of a locking system that incorporates mechanical protection that ensures the keys to your locking systems cannot be copied on key duplicating machines like those found in use by high street retailers.

High key and cylinder protection

The new Y14 Deltus and Bravus cylinders and keys incorporate the Intellitec system that combines both legal and mechanical protection. Designed to provide a high level of protection against illegal key copying, the Intellitec system is incorporated into the key tip and cylinder which is covered by both an effective patent that runs to 2030* and unlimited trademark protection.

Commercial key copying machines which are currently available at the market cannot issue any illegal copies of Y14 Deltus and Bravus keys.

The attempt to copy an unauthorized key fails because of the Intellitec system. A key with the Intellitec system cannot be cut by a commercial key copying machine. The shape and position of the patented Intellitec pin incorporated into the key tip design ensures that the cylinder cannot be operated unless a three-dimensional geometry interaction is met.

Additional benefits of the Intellitec system include a high level of pick protection when combined with the multiple paracentric profile, and keys that are only available from an authorized ABUS dealer. The security card to the master key system is another safety feature because the security card has to be shown in order to obtain legally a key copy.
