On a day filled with promise, in a room where excitement was in the air, over 360 members of IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area gathered at the Hilton Inn Pensacola Beach to fulfill their purpose. On this day, the members of IMPACT 100 would award $1,103,300 to a record eleven nonprofit organizations in grants of $100,300 each. The day was made more special by the presence of Wendy Steele, the founder of the original IMPACT 100.

Fifteen finalist organizations had been selected by IMPACT members who met through the summer in committees to thoroughly review every grant proposal. The grants had been submitted by nonprofit organizations in one of five Focus Areas: Arts & Culture; Education; Environment, Recreation & Preservation; Family; and Health and Wellness. During the Annual Meeting, representatives of each finalist organization gave moving presentations to highlight their proposed projects and their expected impact on the community.

Following the presentations, IMPACT members cast their ballots. Supervisors of Elections from Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties were on hand with voting machines and members of their staffs to oversee the voting process from start to finish.

While votes were tabulated, members enjoyed refreshments and socializing. When the group reconvened, Wendy Steele spoke briefly, praising the members and leadership of IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area for 15 years of successful philanthropy. She noted that including this day’s 11 grant awards, since its inception in 2004 IMPACT 100 Pensacola will have awarded $10,498,000 for 98 grants to 72 organizations within Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties

Finally, following a brief business meeting, 11 nonprofit organizations were announced as recipients of grants of $100,300 which will fund visionary, transformative projects within the community.

President’s Letter

What an exciting and IMPACTful year 2018 was! While the IMPACT 100 Annual Meeting is always one of the highlights of my year, this year was extra-special. We celebrated our 15th year of giving with a record- breaking 1,103 members, allowing us to award 11 grants for the first time in our history. These 11 grants, in the amount of $100,300 each, will be used by these nonprofitorganizations to implement transformative projects in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. Thanks to each of you for the difference your IMPACT membership is making for these nonprofit organizations and the clients they serve. Your membership allowed us to once again be celebrated as the largest IMPACT 100 organization in the world. We are proud to have awarded 98

grants for a total of $10,498,000 to 72 distinct nonprofit organizations since our inception in 2003.

In this newsletter you will find information on each of the eleven 2018 grant recipients and their projects. While not all of our grant applicants are recipients, all do noteworthy work in our community. We encourage you to pay it forward by contributing to their efforts. Each 2018 grant applicant was invited to submit a wish list of tangible and intangible donations that might benefit their organization. Visit https://impact100pensacola.org/members/wishlists to learn more.

We welcome to our board this year, Alicia Ahern, Autumn Beck Blackledge, Charlotte Cheney, Genevieve Kurpuis, Kristin Longley, and Diane Schwartz. These ladies bring unique skills and expertise to our all-volunteer board, are passionate about IMPACT 100, and all have served on focus area committees. Learn more about each in the pages that follow.

While we welcome new board members, we bid a very fond farewell and extend a huge thanks to those rolling off our board. During their tenure, Maria Goldberg, Laura Keene, Jo Mathews, Janet McCormick, Martha Richard, and Lisa Traina were invaluable in managing and enhancing our organization. These ladies led the effort to grow membership, chaired committees, implemented cutting-edge technology, evaluated and improved our processes and procedures, and coordinated our major events. If you know any of these ladies, please take a moment to thank them for unselfishly donating their skill, time, and passion to IMPACT 100. To see the level of commitment and effort these ladies have made to our organization is truly awe-inspiring.

As we enter our 16th year of giving, let’s keep the momentum of 2018 going! It is because of you that we were successful. Your membership allowed us to award $1,103,300 to 11 worthy nonprofits this year. The bar has been set at a new level of giving and it takes each of us to meet and exceed that bar. Invite your friends, family, and associates to our upcoming membership events. You will find these dates in this newsletter and posted on our website and Facebook page. Please share the “Meet and Mingle” postcards you received in your Annual Meeting packet. Invite us to speak to your civic organizations to share the good news about IMPACT 100. We also encourage you to invite the nonprofits with which you are involved, or simply know of, to our Nonprofit Workshop and Nonprofit Social, both scheduled for April 16, 2019. Urge them to learn more about our grant process and consider applying for a grant in 2019.

Let’s award over a $1 million again in 2019 and continue to fund transformative, life-changing projects in our community. With your help, we can make the dreams of the nonprofit organiza-tions serving our community a reality as we fulfill the IMPACT 100 mission of knowing and serving our community, collectively funding significant grants to charitable initiatives, and setting an example of effective philanthropy.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area, thank you again for being a difference maker. May you, your families, and all those you love experience a record-breaking year of joy, peace, and prosperity!

Brigette Brooks
