Stewardship Eternal “Jesus answered, ‘My kingdom does not belong to this world.”

(JOHN 18:36) How often do we give up on Stewardship, putting all our time and energy into building a kingdom here on earth, forgetting that life here is short? The real kingdom is in the next life. Yet, how much time and energy do we invest in working for that eternal kingdom?

Assumption Regional Catholic School News!

Dear Friends,

Peace and all good! Hoping that you had a blessed Thanksgiving and shared wonderful family time around your table!

It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of the liturgical year as we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. In our Gospel today, Jesus reminds us that his kingdom does not belong to this world. As we move through this week, how can we help our children and grandchildren to honor Christ, who came into the world to prepare us for the kingdom that was to come?

Our October Beatitude was “Be Peaceful. At our Thanksgiving school liturgy, the following students were recognized for being a calming influence in their classroom and around school: Pre-K 3: Finna Fotiades and Natalie Richardson; Pre K-4A: Natalie Brynn Paras and Clifton Sudler III; Pre-K 4B: Rhea Panwala and Aarush Shah; Kindergarten A: Fiorio DiAntonio, Lyla Fotiades, and Angela Tran; Kindergarten B: Luke Barrett and Marie Elefante; Grade 1A: Ethan Borowski, Anna Napolitano and Sophia Sanchez; Grade 1B: Olivia Barone and Lillian DePietro; Grade 2A: Aanya Shah and Rowan Todd; Grade 2B: Ava Campolo and Nicholas Carrera; Grade 3A: Elysia Seward and Lily Steelman; Grade 3B: Isabella Blum, Lilliana Harbright and Juliana Tunis; Grade 4A: Max Mendoza, Anthony Salvati, and Ava Vandenberg; Grade 4B: Gabrielle Butler, Bentley Chin and Julie Fussner; Grade 5A: Nicolas Fiorella, Louis Flynn and Ruby Seif; Grade 5B: Alexander Gall, Chanthal Sanchez and Andre Stewart; Grades 6 A and B: Jake Apel, Emily Fussner, Ella Jenkins, Twinkle Katiwala, Blair Morfitt, Deke Perskie, Emily Ross, and Alicia Sedano; Grades 7 A and B: Sanaa Cherry, Victoria Giardina, Connor Harbright, and Sarina Pollino; Grades 8 A and B: Molly Brennan, Melanie Kerper, Melissa Ledwold, Quolauni Logan-Hughes, Ava Malamut, and Anna Serviss. Congratulations to our be peace-ful students! We are very proud of their efforts to keep peace within themselves so that they can bring peace to those around them! God is good!

Our 1st ARCS Fall Gala and Honoree Evening that was held on November 16 at the Carriage House was a GRAND success! We were at capacity for seating, and the class project/auction items were spectacular! Everyone in attendance had an awesome time! We also had the opportunity to honor the following incredible folks: Alumni of the Year: Jon Bell; Community Member of the Year: Michael Sheeran and Patrick Sheeran; Volunteer of the Year: Janie Jordal; and our Rams’ Spirit Award: Harry Martin. Many thanks to committee members who have been hard at work since last spring: Molly Casella, Lisa Turchio, and Jackie Fiorella. In addition to the committee, there were many parents who assisted with putting together the class projects and volunteering at the event. Many hands make work light! We are blessed, indeed!

Thank you for your continued support of our school. We could not do what we do without you and we are most grateful!

Blessings, B. Joan Dollinger Principal

HELP KEEP CHILDREN SAFE AT SCHOOL

A bill introduced in the State Senate and Assembly would double per-pupil funding for security – from $75 to $150 – in the current school year for nonpublic school students. Public school funding for security is approximately $205 per student. Please call your state legislators today and ask for their support. You will find contact information at: www.njleg.state.nj.us/members/legsearch.asp. When you call your senator, refer to Senate Bill S3080. When you call your assembly representative, refer to Assembly Bill A4597. You can say, “My name is _____ and I live in _______ town/city. I am very concerned about protecting nonpublic school children in the wake of recent tragic events at a place of worship in Pittsburgh. I would like to ask [name of senator/assembly representative] to post [bill number] in the Education Committee so that there can be a vote for equitable funding to help keep children safe in nonpublic schools. These students currently receive considerably less funding than their public school counterparts.” In addition to calling your local legislators, please use the same message to contact Senate President Steve Sweeney at 856-251-9801 and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin at 732-855-7441. This legislation was introduced by Assemblyman Gary Schaer. Please call him at 973-249-3665 to express your thanks.

John Stabeno, Director of Recovery Ministries, Diocese of Camden, here at Assumption Church, 2nd Sundays, 3:30-4:30, beginning January 13, 2019. There is rich symbolism in lighting a candle on behalf of a loved one. In that same spirit we will honor our loved ones, living or deceased, with our annual Festival of Trees. Each 5’ Tree will be dressed in warm white LED lights, waiting for a family to dedicate and decorate. The trees will be lit up and blessed on Saturday, December 15, 2018 after 4:00pm Mass. The trees will grace the front section of the lawn along Pitney Road until the Feast of the Epiphany on Sunday January 6, 2019. Includes: 5’ evergreen tree, staked to ground, lit with warm white LED lights, and mounted with a plaque of commemoration dedicated to a loved one, both living or deceased, or just a special Christmas Greeting. The trees will be lit each evening from 12/15/18 through 1/6/19. The cost also covers removal of the trees and any left-over proceeds will go back to the church. Cost: $100.00 Please use form below and place in the offering basket labeled “Festival of Lights” or drop off the parish office by December 2, 2018.
