ThisSundayof theGoodShepherd,were lectandpraywithPope Francis in re lecting on our vocation and lifeproject.With the theme: the courage to take a risk forGod’spromise,PopeFrancisremindsushowLord’scallmakes us bearers of a promise and, at the same time,asksusthecouragetotakeriskswithhimandforhim.Iwill do this by re lecting brie lywith you on these twoaspects-thepromiseandtherisk-as they appear in theGospelaccountofthecallingofthe irstdisciplesbytheseaofGalilee(Mk1:16-20).Twopairsofbrothers – Simon and Andrew, and James and John-are going about their daily tasks asishermen. In thisdemandingwork, theyhad learned the lawsofnature,yetat times,when thewindswereadverseandwavesshooktheirboats,theyhadtodefytheelements.Onsomedays,thecatchof ishamplyrepaidtheirefforts,butonothers,anentirenight’sworkwasnotsuf icientto illtheirnets,andtheyhadtoreturntoshorewearyanddisappointed.Muchoflifeislikethat.Eachofus tries to realize his or her deepest desires; we engage in activities that we hope will proveenriching,andweputoutona“sea”ofpossibilitiesinthehopeofsteeringtherightcourse,onethatwill satisfyour thirst forhappiness. Sometimesweenjoyagoodcatch,whileatothers,weneedcouragetokeepourboatfrombeingtossedbythewaves,orwearefrustratedatseeingournetscomeupempty.Aswitheverycall,theGospelspeaksofanencounter.Jesuswalksby,seesthoseishermen, and walks up to them... That day, by the sea of Galilee, Jesus drew near to thoseishermen, and tell them: “I will make you ishers of men” (Mk 1:17). The Lord’s call is not anintrusionofGodinourfreedom;itisnota“cage”oraburdentobeborne.Onthecontrary,itistheloving initiativewherebyGodencountersusandinvitesustobepartofagreatundertaking. Heopensbeforeoureyesthehorizonofagreaterseaandanabundantcatch.Vocationisasummonsnottostandontheshore,netsinhand,buttofollowJesusonthepathhehasmarkedoutforus,forourownhappinessandforthegoodofthosearoundus.As,the irstdisciples,calledbyJesustobepartofsomethinggreater,“immediatelylefttheirnetsandfollowedhim”(Mk1:18).RespondingtotheLord’scallinvolvesputtingourselvesonthelineandfacingagreatchallenge. Itmeansbeingreadytoleavebehindwhateverwouldkeepustiedtoourlittleboatandpreventusfrommakingade initivechoice.WearecalledtobeboldanddecisiveinseekingGod’splanforourlives.Gazingoutatthevast“ocean”ofvocation,wecannotremaincontenttorepairournetsontheboatthatgivesussecurity,butmusttrustinsteadintheLord’spromise.Dearfriends,itisnotalwayseasytodiscernourvocationandtosteerourlifeintherightdirection.Forthisreason,thereneedstobearenewedcommitmenton thepartof thewholeChurch–priests, religious,pastoralworkersandeducators – to provide young people in particular with opportunities for listening anddiscernment. There isaneedforayouthministryandavocationalpromotionthatcanopentheway to discovering God’s plan, above all through prayer,meditation on God’s word, eucharisticadorationandspiritualaccompaniment.

His journey to thepriesthoodbeganwhenhejoinedtheFridaynightprayergroupinhisparish. He later founded the Spanish-speaking young adult group,“SoldadosdeCristo”,which still exists to thisday.Rigobertomet theScalabrini Fathers during a youth retreat and later joined theirformation program. He irst entered the discernment house in SunValley, California. His irst mission experience was with the DayLaborersinLosAngeles.Later,hecontinuedhisstudiesofPhilosophyattheUICUniversity,inMexicoCity.HealsoservedforsixmonthsatCasa del Migrante in Tijuana Mexico. He completed the Novitiate’s year in Guadalajara Mexico,makinghis irstReligiousvowsonNovember28,2018.Then,hewasassignedtostudyTheologyinSao Paulo Brazil, where he lived for ive years, studying and serving immigrants from thePhilippines, Syria, Haiti, Africa, Peru, and Bolivia. Father Rigoberto was Ordained onFebruary16th,2019,andwasassignedforhis irstmissiontoourparishOurLadyofMountCarmel,inMelrosePark.THE FEAST OF ST. ANTHONY

The St. Anthony Society of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish & Shrine in Melrose Park, will be celebrating the annual

FEAST of ST. ANTHONY June 9-13, 2019. The celebration will begin with the Feast on Sunday, June 9th at the 10:30 am mass followed by the traditional blessing of the

bread, veneration of the relic, and procession through the streets

accompanied by Banada Napolitana,. After the procession, refreshments will be

served in the gym. A Tridiuum for St. Anthony will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday

evening at 7:30pm. On Thursday, June 13th, the actual feast

day of St. Anthony, there will be a special celebratory mass and an outdoor

reception at 7:30 pm. Please come and join us in one of the

largest celebrations honoring St. Anthony in the Chicagoland area.

BIENVENIDO AL PADRE RIGOBERTO OLIVARES

P. Rigoberto nació en la Ciudad de México. Es el mayor de cuatro hermanos y se mudó a California cuando era muy joven. Su camino hacia el sacerdocio comenzó cuando se unió al grupo de oración de los viernes en su parroquia. Más tarde fundó el grupo de jóvenes adultos de habla hispana: "Soldados de Cristo", que todavía existe hasta nuestros días. Rigoberto se conoció a los Padres Scalabrinianos durante un retiro para jóvenes y luego se unió a su programa de formación. Primero entró en la Casa de Discernimiento en Sun Valley, California. Su primera experiencia misionera fue con los jornaleros en Los Ángeles. Posteriormente, continuó sus estudios de Filosofía en la Universidad UIC, en la Ciudad de México. También sirvió durante seis meses en la Casa del Migrante en Tijuana

México. Completó el año de noviciado en Guadalajara, México, y realizó sus primeros votos religiosos el 28 de noviembre de 2018. Luego, fue enviado a estudiar teología en Sao Paulo, Brasil, donde vivió durante cinco años, estudiando y sirviendo a inmigrantes de Filipinas, Siria. Haití, África, Perú y Bolivia. El padre Rigoberto fue ordenado el 16 de febrero de 2019, y fue asignado para su primera misión a nuestra parroquia de Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo, en Melrose Park.

FIESTA DE SAN ANTONIO

La Sociedad de San Antonio de Nuestra Señora del Monte celebrará la fiesta anual de SAN ANTONIO del 9 al 13 de junio del 2019. La celebración comenzará con la fiesta el domingo 9 de junio en la misa de las 10:30 am, seguida de la tradicional bendición del pan, la veneración de la reliquia y la procesión por las calles acompañada por la Banda Napolitana. Después de la procesión, se servirán refrescos en el gimnasio. Un Tridiuum para San Antonio se llevará a cabo los lunes, martes y miércoles por la noche a las 7:30 pm. El jueves 13 de junio, día de la fiesta real de San Antonio, habrá una misa especial de celebración y una recepción al aire libre a las 7:30 pm. Por favor, venga y únase a nosotros en una de las celebraciones más grandes en honor a San Antonio en el área de Chicago.

FELIZ DIA DE LAS MADRES Al celebrar el día de las madres, los creyentes nos regocijamos por el regalo de la existencia que Dios ha descansado en nosotros a través de la mujer. BENVENUTO AL PADRE RIGOBERTO OLIVARES P. Rigoberto è nato a Città del Messico. É il maggiore di quattro fratelli e sorelle. Ha emigrato a California quando era molto giovane. Il suo cammino vocazionale verso il sacerdozio l’ha iniziato quando si è inserito al gruppo di preghiera del venerdì sera nella sua parrocchia. In seguito fondò il gruppo di giovani adulti di lingua spagnola: "Soldados de Cristo", che esiste fino ad oggi. Rigoberto ha conosciuto i Padri Scalabriniani durante un ritiro giovanile e successivamente si è unito al loro programma di formazione. Entrò per la prima volta nella Casa di Discernimento in Sun Valley, California. La sua prima esperienza di missione è stata con i “Day Laborers” in Los Angeles. Ha continuato i suoi studi di Filosofia all'Università UIC,

di Città del Messico. Ha servito per sei mesi presso la Casa del Migrante di Tijuana, in Messico. Completò l'anno di noviziato a Guadalajara in Messico, emettendo i suoi primi voti religiosi il 28 novembre 2013. È stato destinato a studiare la Teologia a San Paolo in Brasile, dove visse per cinque anni. Esercitava il suo apostolato servendo gli immigrati delle Filippine, Siria, Haiti, Africa, Perù e Bolivia.
