Dear Family,
This week all the priests of the Archdiocese meet for a week for our annual convocaon, literally, a “calling together.” Each
year, the presbyterate of each diocese meet for about a week for fraternity, sharing, and some connuing educaon. Dur-
ing this me the Archbishop also addresses us with thoughts and concerns which apply to most to us and gets our feedback
and hears our concerns. I call this the “State of the Diocese Address.” I must admit that I am very grateful for this me with
my brother priests. I have in my life many wonderful people, like all of you and some great friends, both priests and lay.
However, it is always such a special opportunity to spend me together praying, talking, and laughing with people who
“get” your way of life. We priests live in many unique social tensions and have a schedule like very few others, so to have
free me with each other is a special treat, especially in a diocese covering much land with very few priests. It’s not unusual
for us to see some of our peers once a year. If you are interested during this same week there will be a Mass for those
priests celebrang a significant anniversary of their ordinaon. The Mass is at 5:00pm this Wednesday at St. Francis and
you can play “Where’s Waldo” with your pastor by trying to spot me.
Pray for us that this week be a me of gracefilled renewal so that we may be/er serve all of you. And since our Gospel this
weekend is all about gratude, perhaps take some me to consider what you are grateful for and express that to God when
you talk with Him. So many mes, our prayers are filled primarily with requests, let us never forget to give thanks for the
realies and victories, big and small, that bring a smile to our hearts. Like the leper healed by Jesus, perhaps we too may
find a deeper healing yet by taking the me to go back and give thanks.
In his joy, Fr Daniel
